A retired admiral has a message for Trump

A new TV ad on "Fox and Friends" and "Morning Joe" puts Trump on notice. Watch now:

Dear MoveOn member,

A couple of hours ago, Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee voted against investigating Donald Trump's financial entanglements and ties to the Russian government.

This vote is the latest piece of evidence that Republicans are unwilling or unable (and very likely both) to do their jobs—which is why the American people deserve an appointed commission charged with leading a full-on and independent investigation.

In a new television ad—thanks to a partnership between Vote Vets and MoveOn—retired Rear Admiral Michael Smith calls on Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and House Speaker Paul Ryan to appoint such an independent commission to get answers about Trump.

Watch and share this blistering, thirty-second rebuke by clicking here.

(Not on Facebook? Click here to watch the ad on YouTube.)

To increase the chance that Trump would see the ad prior to his address this evening to a joint session of Congress, we aired it on "Fox and Friends" and "Morning Joe"—two of Trump's go-to TV shows.

Rear Admiral Smith delivered a message to Trump, Sen. McConnell, and Rep. Ryan: Defending America means finding the truth.

Yes it does.

There’s legislation in both houses of Congress that calls for—essentially—a 9/11-style commission to investigate the ties between Trump and Russia, but it won’t see the light of day until Sen. McConnell and Rep. Ryan get on board.

That’s where MoveOn members like you come in. So let’s turn up the heat.

Please watch a retired admiral’s call for an independent investigation, and then share it with everyone you know to continue escalating the call from members of both parties and from the American public for an independent commission to investigate Trump.

Thanks for all you do.

This Tuesday, Trump will give his first address to Congress. Instead of subjecting ourselves to more of the same terror, insults, and unconstitutional actions, we are organizing People's Addresses all around the country!

Our movement is growing. Members of Congress encountered unprecedented crowds at their town hall meetings during #ResistanceRecess last week—or were exposed in the media for not facing up to their constituents. The tide is turning against repealing the Affordable Care Act, and pressure is mounting for Congress to subpoena Trump's tax returns and launch an investigation.

Will you join fellow constituents near you on Tuesday to tell our members of Congress that they work for us, not Trump?
A person holding a sign! YES, I'LL BE THERE! People holding signs!

Want to support our work? The MoveOn community will work every moment, day by day and year by year, to resist Trump's agenda, contain the damage, defeat hate with love, and begin the process of swinging the nation's pendulum back toward sanity, decency, and the kind of future that we must never give up on. I will personally deliver signatures to Congress on whether to investigate Trump's corruption

Will you add your name to the push to force an investigation into Donald Trump's financial conflicts of interest and ties to the Russian government?

Dear MoveOn member,

Congress must investigate Donald Trump. Nearly daily, revelations make an independent, immediate investigation all the more critical. And tomorrow, the House Judiciary Committee will vote on my "Resolution of Inquiry" that would start such an investigation.

However, Republicans in Congress have shown no willingness to investigate Donald Trump's financial conflicts of interest and ties to the Russian government—despite a massive public outcry—which is why they are trying to quietly bury my bill. We can't let that happen.

Will you add your name to this petition today, and share it with your friends, so we can reach a half million by tomorrow's press conference? I'll personally deliver these signatures to Congress right before the committee vote.

More than 400,000 MoveOn members have already signed a petition calling for this investigation—and on Tuesday, I'll be holding a press conference to make sure the public and the media know that there is an avenue to investigate, that the American people want to know the truth, and that it's the Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee who are standing in the way.

We're far from finished in our pursuit of truth, and this resolution is one step in making sure every member of Congress takes a public stance on calling for an independent investigation. When it comes to Russia, to foreign entanglements, to financial dealings, we deserve to know what Trump knew, when he knew it, and what he might be hiding.

Add your name to this push for a full, immediate, independent investigation. Click here to sign.

Thanks.

—Congressman Jerry Nadler

P.S. You can see MoveOn's original email from two weeks ago below about the petition which has already been signed by more than 400,000 MoveOn members.

Dear MoveOn member,

Yesterday, Representative Jerry Nadler took the extraordinary step of filing a "resolution of inquiry" in the U.S. House that could force a House investigation into Donald Trump's financial conflicts of interest and ties to the Russian government.1

Media reports have called Rep. Nadler's action the "most aggressive move" yet by Democrats.2

Add your name now to send a message to lawmakers and the national media: The American people won't rest until Donald Trump is held accountable for his unprecedented ethics and constitutional violations.

Vote in favor of a House investigation into Donald Trump's financial conflicts of interest and ties to the Russian government.

If Rep. Nadler is successful, the Department of Justice will have "to provide Congress with the basic information required to conduct an inquiry into President Trump and his associates' conflicts of interest, ethical violations—including the Emoluments Clause—and connections to the Russian government."3 The DOJ will also have to provide information related to "any criminal or counterintelligence investigation targeting President Donald J. Trump, National Security Advisor Michael Flynn, Paul Manafort, Carter Page, Roger Stone, or any employee of the Executive Office of the President."4

This could be the breakthrough needed for the American people to learn the full extent of Trump's unconstitutional activity. The House Judiciary Committee has 14 legislative days to respond to Rep. Nadler's request, or it will automatically go to the full House for a vote, forcing Republicans to grapple with and vote on whether they are going to take seriously and investigate—or continue to ignore—Trump's flagrant ethical and constitutional violations.

Refusing to divest from his businesses, discussing development deals with world leaders, promoting his daughter's business via governmental communications channels, and refusing to show his taxes so the public can understand his financial entanglements are just a few of the concerns that demand a full investigation and public accountability.

Add your name now to help create a massive wave of support and media attention to make sure House members understand that the American people demand a timely and thorough investigation of Donald Trump.

Anything short of that is a complete abdication of their oversight responsibility—and we will hold them accountable accordingly.

Thanks for all you do.

The Resistance Address

Resistance is more than a slogan—it's a movement. A people-powered movement supported and fueled by countless Americans, including millions of MoveOn members like you.

Dear fellow MoveOn member,

Resistance is more than a slogan—it’s a movement. A people-powered movement supported and fueled by countless Americans, including millions of MoveOn members like you.

This Tuesday, February 28, Donald Trump will address a joint session of Congress for the first time. His speechwriter is Stephen Miller, who helped draft the Muslim ban and who has championed discriminatory and harmful policies. We can expect that this speech will be filled with more of the same prejudiced agenda that undermines our shared values and equality. But, frankly, it doesn't matter what Trump says on Tuesday—his actions in his first 30 days in office speak for themselves.

This is why MoveOn is partnering with close friends and allies of mine to organize a rally—called "Resistance Address: Defending American Values in a Time of Moral Crisis"—that will take place outside the White House before Trump gives his speech to Congress.

We will continue to resist, but MoveOn needs your support to fuel the resistance with more events like Tuesday night's "Resistance Address," and all of the actions and tactics we need to keep building the resistance. Can you pitch in $5 a month?

Yes, I'll pitch in monthly and help MoveOn keep growing the resistance.

No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.

Tuesday's rally will feature people and speakers from organizations who represent the most vulnerable communities, those under attack from the Trump administration. At Tuesday's rally, we will talk about standing up for our moral values and not giving in to the oppression manifested in one hateful Trump administration executive order after another.

After Tuesday, as we continue to march, stand united, and fight back, we need groups like MoveOn to help channel and guide this grassroots resistance—every day, every week, every month, and onward, in the long struggle ahead.

Thanks for all you do.

–Mark

P.S. For those of you who can't be in Washington on Tuesday, we’ll be livestreaming the rally on social media—follow the #ResistanceAddress hashtag and watch live on MoveOn's Facebook page, starting at 6 p.m. ET (5 CT/4 MT/3 PT).

P.P.S. Tonight, Sunday, February 26 at 8 p.m. ET (7 CT/6 MT/5 PT), MoveOn will host a "Ready to Resist: What's Next after #ResistanceRecess" conference call. If you haven't RSVP'd already, click here.

Tell us about your #ResistanceRecess action—and join the Ready to Resist call Sunday night!

Thousands of people took part! How was your #ResistanceRecess action?

Dear Eddie,

Thank you for signing up to attend a #ResistanceRecess event, making it clear to lawmakers that tolerance of Trump's hurtful agenda is unacceptable and politically toxic.

MoveOn members are part of over 600 events in all 50 states during this congressional recess -- including many happening this weekend. Over 100,000 people are expected to participate overall, and more than 1 million people have visited ResistanceRecess.com just one week after it was launched. We are absolutely getting lawmakers' and the national media's attention. Public support for the ACA is on the rise, and lawmakers are starting to call for more investigations into the Trump administration's ties to Russia. And one GOP lawmaker said today that because of our pressure, there might not be enough votes to repeal the ACA!2

Can you take a few moments to tell us about your experience at your #ResistanceRecess event?

Your feedback is critical—it helps us learn and maximize our impact as we plan future actions.

In addition to telling us about your experience, here are a few important steps to take after your event:

  • National Ready to Resist Call - Sunday, February 26, 8 p.m. ET (7 CT/6 MT/5 PT). Join us Sunday evening for our national Ready to Resist Call for everyone who took part in this week's #ResistanceRecess actions. Come and share your experience, hear stories from others who participated around the country, and look to what's next after #ResistanceRecess. Click here to register for Sunday's national Ready to Resist Call.
  • On Tuesday, we're back at it, with actions across the country as part of #ResistTrumpTuesdays, the weekly events we've led with Working Families Party and People's Action. Search for the nearest event by clicking here. (It's also okay to take a rest!)
  • We're gearing up for Tax Day Marches—a national day of action in April—to call out Trump's refusal to reveal his taxes, divest from his businesses, and allow the American people to know the truth about how he may be personally benefiting from the decisions he makes in the Oval Office.

Don't forget to complete the survey about your #ResistanceRecess experience!

Thanks for all you do.

P.S. If you have pictures of your event, send photos to photos@moveon.org, post them on social media using #ResistanceRecess and tag @MoveOn, and share them on Slack. If you took Facebook Live or other video during the event, share the link to your videos here.

Call Rep. Meeks: Investigate Trump

On Tuesday, House members will vote on whether to investigate Donald Trump. Make sure your representative knows where you stand.

Dear MoveOn member,

Next Tuesday—finallyHouse Judiciary Committee members will debate and vote on investigating Donald Trump and his administration, and it's all because of the resolution of inquiry filed by Representative Jerry Nadler.

Rep. Nadler's resolution directs the Department of Justice to provide the House of Representatives with any and all information relevant to Trump and his associates’ conflicts of interest, ethical violations, and ties to Russia.1

So far, your representative—Gregory W. Meeks—hasn't signed on as a co-sponsor of Rep. Nadler's demand to investigate Trump and key members of his current administration.

Can you pick up the phone right now and ask Representative Gregory W. Meeks to sign on?

Here's where to phone:

  • Rep. Meeks - (202) 225-3461

You can say, "Americans deserve to know about Trump's ties to Russia and what he's hiding in his tax returns. Please cosponsor Rep. Nadler's demand that the Department of Justice turn over all relevant material on these conflicts."

Then please report the details of your call by clicking here.

Nearly every day, more and more questions surface concerning Donald Trump’s ethical violations and questionable ties to Russia.

Donald Trump has refused to step away from his business interests in any meaningful way. Trump's foreign entanglements are likely unconstitutional. He has repeatedly refused to disclose his financial assets, and he is severely compromised by known Russian interference in our election and by continued revelations about ties that he, his campaign, and his administration might have to Russian officials.

Rep. Nadler's resolution represents one of the best chances we have right now to pull apart Trump's web of corruption and foreign entanglements.

Please phone Rep. Meeks right now and ask him to declare his public support for a full-on investigation of Donald Trump by cosponsoring Rep. Nadler's resolution.

Here's where to call:

Here's the deal: If Republicans had followed through on their constitutional duty to conduct oversight, this resolution would not be necessary.

Prior to Rep. Nadler's introduction of this resolution, Democrats had sent multiple requests for hearings which—outrageously—were ignored.

Republicans were stonewalling, even as more and more Americans demanded answers. That's why Rep. Nadler took matters into his own hands.

On Tuesday, House members will be forced to go on record and choose between enabling Trump’s ethical and national security breaches or honoring the oath they took to act in our nation's best interest and uphold our Constitution.

Thank you for helping make sure Rep. Meeks gets on board right now.

And thanks for all you do.

—Jo, Emma, Michael, Ilya, and the rest of the team

P.S. Nearly 400,000 MoveOn members have already signed a petition in support of Rep. Nadler's resolution. If you haven't yet added your name, please do so now by clicking here. If you've already signed on, consider inviting your friends and family to join you by clicking here.

Why we need Keith Ellison as DNC chair

Watch Keith Ellison lay out his vision for the Democratic Party

Dear MoveOn member,

How will the Democratic Party evolve to meet the unprecedented challenges of the Trump era?

There's an important election happening on Saturday that'll help answer that question. The contest over who will be elected Chair of the Democratic National Committee has become a fight over whether the Democratic Party can serve as an unapologetic ally to the fired-up grassroots progressive movement and become a people-powered alternative to Trump in all corners of the country—or whether it risks failing to meet the moment.

That's why an extraordinary coalition including MoveOn, progressive Senators Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, progressive groups like Democracy for America, Progressive Change Campaign Committee, 350 Action, Working Families Party, labor partners like CWA and the AFL-CIO, supporters of both Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton, and many more communities and organizations have all united in support of Keith Ellison for DNC chair.

Keith Ellison's view on what the Democratic Party must stand for couldn't be more clear: "If you don't fight for social justice AND economic justice, you end up with neither one."

We need Keith Ellison as DNC chair. Will you watch this video of Keith Ellison laying out his vision and share why you support him for DNC chair TODAY—to get the word out before the DNC election on Saturday?

Keith Ellison for DNC Chair

The DNC chair is chosen by 447 DNC members from across the country. The Ellison team and allies have been privately reaching out to these members and earning support for months. But there are still dozens of undecided DNC members and the race for chair is going to go down to the wire.

That’s why it’s important to make as much noise on social media as possible ahead of the DNC vote on Saturday. We need to make sure that every DNC member knows that the grassroots of the broad progressive movement in this country supports Keith Ellison—and we need them to hear Ellison's vision to make the Democratic Party a vehicle for an inclusive populist agenda that can take on Trump, take back power, and take our country forward.

Watch Keith Ellison lay out his vision for the Democratic Party, then share the video with your friends and say why you support #KeithforDNC.

MoveOn has always been a home for progressives that's independent of any candidate or political party—and we'll always stay that way, even as we push the Democratic Party to serve as an electoral vehicle for the progressive movement.

Thanks for all you do.

Congress is home. Keep the pressure on.

Here's the truth: Republicans are in a panic. The American people have caught on to the fact that the repeal of Obamacare, without a plan to make it better, would be an absolute disaster.

Dear MoveOn member,

Here's the truth: Republicans are in a panic. The American people have caught on to the fact that the repeal of Obamacare, without a plan to make it better, would be an absolute disaster.

You see it at town hall meetings across the country, where constituents are telling their representatives, "NO! You are not going to get away with this. You are not going to kick Americans off of their health care. You are not going to tell any of the 20 million Americans who have finally received health insurance: 'forget about it, you’re gone. You’re off health insurance.'"

That is not going to happen.

Congress is home for another recess. And what we want to do is continue to keep the pressure on. Because it's working. We want to send a message, loud and clear, that the American people want to improve the Affordable Care Act, and we do not simply want to repeal the program.

On February 25, I will join those fighting at rallies to save health care for millions of Americans. Just like during our campaign, there are hundreds of events taking place across the country this week. They are happening in progressive areas, conservative areas, and everywhere in between.

Find an event in your community and RSVP to attend. Your participation is extraordinarily important.

Stopping the Republican assault on the working class of this country will require the active participation of Americans in every community. It will take engaging millions of people from all walks of life, regardless of whether they voted for Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump, or anyone else. It will take us continuing to build the political revolution that we started on our campaign.

Thank you for signing up.

In solidarity,

Bernie Sanders

Add your name: Appoint a special prosecutor to investigate Trump

Will you sign and share my petition telling Sessions to recuse himself and appoint a special prosecutor to investigate Trump's ties to Russia?

Dear MoveOn member,

More than 50 members of Congress, including myself, are encouraging Attorney General Jeff Sessions to recuse himself and appoint a special prosecutor for the Department of Justice's pending investigation into contact between Donald Trump's team and Russian intelligence operatives.1

As an adviser to the Trump campaign, Sessions is too close to the situation.

Will you join me by signing and sharing the petition telling Sessions to recuse himself and appoint a special prosecutor to investigate Trump's ties to Russia?

Recuse yourself and appoint a special prosecutor to investigate the Trump team's ties to Russia.

Did Mike Flynn break the law when he talked to the Russian ambassador? Did the Trump campaign contact Russian intelligence services? What is the relationship between Trump's team and the Russian government? What did Stephen Bannon and Donald Trump know, and when did they know it?

The American people deserve answers to all of these questions and more.

Click here to add your name to this petition, and then pass it along to your friends.

Thanks!

—Senator Jeff Merkley

Your #ResistanceRecess event is today!

A few final reminders for your #ResistanceRecess event today

Dear Eddie,

Thanks so much for signing up to attend a #ResistanceRecess event today.

Your event is one of more than 300 happening from coast to coast this week, with more than 20,000 MoveOn members and allies excited to attend these peaceful public gatherings. Together, we are sending a powerful message to make it clear to those who represent us, as well as to the media, that tolerance of Trump's hurtful agenda is unacceptable and politically toxic.

Here are the details for the #ResistanceRecess event you signed up for:

What: NJ District 3 - Forced Townhall w/ or w/o MacArthur
When: TODAY, Wednesday, February 22, 7:00 PM
Where: DeMasi School
199 Evesboro Medford Road, Marlton NJ 08053

Your Attendee Dashboard, where you can contact your host, invite friends, and more:
http://act.moveon.org/event/resistance-recess_attend/tools/?t=2&akid=178516.10220574.kNdrbg

And here are a few tips to ensure you have a great experience and make the biggest impact:

  • Amplify your impact via social media! Follow these easy instructions to broadcast from the event using Facebook Live and post photos on social media using the hashtag #ResistanceRecess and tagging @MoveOn and your member of Congress. After the event, send us the link to your Facebook Live videos using this form. When shooting video or taking photos, turn your camera horizontally—this will allow the image to appear bigger on mobile phones. Also, hashtags help folks all across the country see the work you are doing. If you're having a hard time fitting a hashtag onto the end of a tweet, try working it into the body of the tweet—e.g., "@SenToomey, your constituents demand that you hold a town hall during this #ResistanceRecess! @MoveOn <Insert a picture>."
  • Invite your friends. The more people who show up today, the harder it will be for our members of Congress to ignore our demands. Call friends and family and ask them to come along.
  • If you can, arrive early. This can help ensure you get a seat close to the front of the room and will allow you to greet and coordinate with other MoveOn members there to have an impact.

Finally, we appreciate your commitment to engage in nonviolent, peaceful action, to act lawfully, and to strive to de-escalate any potential confrontations with those who may disagree with our values. To be prepared, please be sure to review the de-escalation tips before arriving at your event.

Thanks for all you do.

Deep trouble (for Trump and Republicans)

The resistance is working. The Trump White House is in "full-blown crisis" over the administration's ties to Russia, and the Republican Congress has achieved zero of its legislative priorities.

Dear MoveOn member,

The resistance is working. The Trump White House is in "full-blown crisis" over the administration's ties to Russia, and the Republican Congress has so far achieved zero of its legislative priorities.1

The New York Times described it this way: "Congressional Republicans, who craved unified control of the government to secure their aggressive conservative agenda, have instead found themselves on a legislative elliptical trainer, gliding toward nowhere."2

Compare it with the first four weeks of Barack Obama's presidency, when Democrats passed a landmark bill to stop pay discrimination, a nearly $1 trillion stimulus, and legislation to expand the children's health insurance program.3

This week, members of Congress are home for their first recess since Trump was sworn in. So we've put our foot on the gas—with Resistance Recess, a weeklong series of events in partnership with 20 other resistance organizations, including Daily Kos, Indivisible, and the Women's March, to make clear to our lawmakers and the media that we won't tolerate the Trump Republican agenda.

There are more than 350 events planned across the country this week, including elected officials' public events, town halls, and other public appearances—and the number of events is growing by the hour. When lawmakers refuse to host events to meet with us, we plan our own. This huge effort has already been featured on the front page of The New York Times.4

Now, we need your help to promote the events with Facebook ads, pay for conference calls with tens of thousands of MoveOn members organizing events, and produce riveting videos of lawmakers being confronted by their constituents. Will you chip in $3 to help fuel this week's Resistance Recess?

Yes, I'll chip in and help fuel this week's Resistance Recess.

Remember the summer of 2009, when the Tea Party swarmed August recess town halls? This reshaped the political moment, put President Obama and the Democrats on defense, and nearly scuttled the Affordable Care Act.

This week is our moment to show up. The difference is we're doing it earlier in a presidency than the Tea Party, and we're not an angry minority. We're a principled majority.

With Trump embroiled in serious scandals that threaten our national security and Republicans on the run over their signature effort to take health care away from tens of millions of Americans, we can force Congress to investigate Trump's financial conflicts of interest and ties to the Russian government, blunt his right-wing agenda, and reclaim the political landscape.

Please, chip in $3 to help fuel this week's Resistance Recess.

Here's what Resistance Recess looks like:

  • Hundreds of events, including massive turnout at town hall meetings. If you've seen footage of Representative Jason Chaffetz of Utah confronted by his constituents, you know that a show of force at town hall meetings can make national news—and shift the momentum in critical fights.
  • Demanding town halls—and hosting our own if members of Congress refuse to organize events. We've launched dozens of petitions and are earning media coverage to shame cowards in Congress who won't meet with their constituents. And for those who still won’t meet with us, we’re hosting "empty chair" town hall meetings to draw attention to their refusal and hold them accountable.
  • A clear set of demands at these events, from calling for an independent investigation into Trump's ties to Russia and financial conflicts of interest, to defending frontline communities, to stopping Republican efforts to take away our health care. We're bringing this message to Republicans who need to feel the pressure, as well as to Democrats who need to stand up and fight.
  • A stream of videos, pictures, and social media stories that can fuel this surging resistance movement.
  • A steady flood of phone calls to make sure that the phones in every lawmaker's office are ringing off the hook.

This is a huge moment. Can you chip in $3 so we can make the most of this week's Resistance Recess?

Yes, count me in!

Thanks for all you do.

Reminder: Resistance Recess Sunday Kickoff Call with Indivisible, #AllofUs, and more

We're kicking off #ResistanceRecess with our biggest call yet.

Dear Eddie,

Thanks for signing up last week to join the Sunday evening Ready to Resist calls!

You'll receive a phone call tonight, Sunday, February 19, at 8 p.m. ET (7 CT/6 MT/5 PT) at the number you provided when you subscribed to these calls. You can also listen in and ask questions via the livestream of the call at moveon.org/readytoresist.

If you'd like to change the phone number you want us to dial for the call, you can do so by re-registering at moveon.org/readytoresist before 4:30 p.m. ET Sunday.

The first congressional recess of the Trump administration is underway. Your members of Congress—your representative and your two senators—have likely headed home for a week of "district work"; that is, to meet with constituents and hear from the communities they represent. This is one of our best opportunities to make our voices heard in person with our elected officials.

That's why tonight we're kicking off #ResistanceRecess with our friends at Indivisible, #AllofUs, Working Families Party, and more.

Can you let your friends and family know about the #ResistanceRecess kickoff call tonight?

Click here to share info about the call on Facebook.

Click here to share info about the call on Twitter.

Ready to Resist Call
Already, together we're making headlines—including hitting the front page of yesterday's New York Times—by showing up in droves at members of Congress's town halls and other in-person events back home.1 We're changing the conversation, making it harder for Trump to enact his agenda, and developing the kind of progressive, community-based, visionary leadership that will restore our country.

This is the fourth call in our popular Ready to Resist series, which we launched the weekend of the historic Women's Marches. We hoped 1,000 would join that first call; 60,000 did, breaking a Guinness World Record for the most people in a live conversation together.2 We can break that record again, but only if you join the call tonight night and spread the word!

This evening, we'll hear from

  • Yong Jung Cho, co-founder of #AllofUs and former Campaign Coordinator with 350 Action, who'll share stories of successful interactions with elected officials that have led to substantive commitments and action;
  • Ezra Levin, co-author of the Indivisible Guide and former congressional staffer, who'll walk us through what to expect at town hall meetings, district office visits, and other recess events, and how to make the most of the opportunity;
  • Rafael Shimunov, National Creative Director with the Working Families Party, who'll regale us with tips and ideas for making our own media;
  • Jezebel Jimenez, youth leader with Make the Road New Jersey, will brief us on how we can respond as a community to Trump's immigration sweeps; and
  • Activists sharing stories from recent town hall meetings and local actions.

Talk with you tonight!

And thanks for all you do.

Bigger than Watergate?

We're demanding that Republicans in Congress do their job and launch a full and independent investigation into Trump's potentially treasonous actions.

Dear MoveOn member,

Monday night, Donald Trump's national security adviser was forced to resign after lying about his conversations with Russia about U.S. sanctions during Trump's transition into office.1

Then on Tuesday, we learned that Trump’s campaign team was in repeated contact with Russian intelligence officials during his presidential campaign.2

And because we still haven't seen Trump’s tax returns, we have no idea what kinds of conflicts of interest or financial ties he has to Russia or anyone else.

We're demanding that Republicans in Congress do their job and launch a full and independent investigation into Trump's potentially treasonous actions. This investigation must start immediately, and we must keep the pressure on for as long as it takes for Congress to get to the bottom of Trump's Russia connection and expose the truth.

Will you chip in $5 to help our ongoing campaign to demand that Congress investigate and expose Trump's ties to Russia and his other conflicts of interest?

Yes, I'll chip in monthly to keep the pressure on.

No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.

Republicans are still refusing to perform their basic oversight responsibilities, but the most recent revelations may finally force them to act.

Former CBS News anchor Dan Rather is saying that the Trump team's contact with the Russian government during the campaign could be a bigger scandal than Watergate, and he would know—he covered the Watergate scandal.3

Congressman and former Marine officer Seth Moulton has called it "the definition of treason" if Trump conspired with a foreign government to hack into the DNC to win an election.4

That's why in recent days, Senate Republicans like John Cornyn and John McCain have called for an investigation into Trump's ties to Russia.5 But Speaker Paul Ryan and Majority Leader Mitch McConnell are still covering for Trump, so we must keep pushing for as long as it takes.6

More than 300,000 MoveOn members have already signed a petition calling for an investigation, and on Wednesday MoveOn produced a rapid response video asking what Trump knew and when he knew it that's already been seen hundreds of thousands of times.

Next week is the first congressional recess since Trump was sworn in, and MoveOn members will help pack town hall meetings all over the country calling on both Republicans and Democrats in Congress to do their job. We're continuing to host organizing calls on Sunday nights and protests on Tuesdays. And we'll keep at it for as long as it takes—even through the 2018 midterms and beyond, if that's what's necessary. We won't let up until Congress really gets to the bottom of Trump's ties to Russia—and exposes his conflicts of interest.

Can you chip in $5 a month to help keep the pressure on?

Yes, I'll chip in to help hold Trump accountable.

No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.

Thanks for all you do.
