Tuesday in New York City: Don't let Big Insurance block reform

Dear MoveOn member,

Right now, big insurance companies are the biggest roadblock to real health care reform. They hate the public option, and they've convinced enough senators to oppose it that Senate leaders may drop it.

So now, in the final days of the health care debate, we need Senator Charles Schumer to stand up to Big Insurance and conservative Democrats and keep fighting for the public option.

So on Tuesday at 4:00 PM, MoveOn members are setting up an actual roadblock on the sidewalk in New York City—the same kind you see while driving when a road is being closed down.

We need to let Sen. Schumer know we're counting on him to fight to ensure the final Senate bill includes a public option, and this is a creative way to get the media's attention.

But we need a good turnout for this rally to be effective. Can you join us?

Yes, I'll come to the "Roadblock Rally" in New York City on Tuesday.

Sorry, I can't make it.

The latest word from Washington is that Senate Democrats have negotiated a tentative deal that doesn't appear to include a real public option. But remember, progressives have rescued the public option before, and we can do it again.

First, though, we need to get Sen. Schumer to tell Big Insurance that he won't let them block reform with a public option. That's why this rally is so important—and it's coming at a critical time, when reporters are paying very close attention to Sen. Schumer's position on health care.

Hope you can make it—and thanks for all you do.
