Tucker Carlson is the most popular TV host in the country.

The right wing is dominating on TV and social media, reaching tens of millions of people and feeding them baseless lies and propaganda.

Dear fellow MoveOn member,

This is disturbing. On Friday, of the top 10 most popular Facebook posts, nine were from far-right extremists, including Ben Shapiro and Franklin Graham.1

And every weeknight, more than 3 million people tune in to watch Tucker Carlson on Fox News. It's the largest audience of any show on cable news.2

The right wing is dominating on TV and social media, reaching tens of millions of people and feeding them baseless lies and propaganda. Which is why it's no surprise that dangerous conspiracy theories about the COVID-19 vaccine and wild lies about a stolen election are spreading like wildfire across the country. In fact, a new poll shows that more than half of all Republicans still believe the 2020 election was stolen from Donald Trump.3

With our democracy and lives on the line, we cannot allow despicable figures like Carlson and Shapiro to spread their hate and lies and control the message.

To fight back, I've partnered with MoveOn to use our massive combined social media audience to beat back right-wing lies and disinformation. Together, MoveOn and I will create hard-hitting, viral videos and other content that dispels far-right conspiracy theories and gets the truth out to critical constituencies around the country.

But MoveOn relies on small donations from members like you to help power it and get its message out to the widest audience possible. Will you chip in $5 a month today to help MoveOn fight back against the right-wing media machine, and keep up the fight for as long as it takes?

Yes, I'll chip in monthly.

No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.

Mar, according to MIT, false news travels six times faster on Twitter than the truth.4

We saw on January 6 the deadly consequences of the right-wing echo chamber, when Trump and his enablers ignited a white supremacist insurrection that left lawmakers running for their lives, dozens injured, and five people dead. And it could have been much worse.

So our work to beat back right-wing lies couldn't be more urgent. And MoveOn is uniquely poised to do this work through social media and on the ground.

MoveOn is a progressive powerhouse. For more than 20 years, MoveOn has taken on the right wing online and offline.

When Fox News, Trump, and other right-wing figures gained millions of followers and likes on social media, MoveOn launched its in-house Creative Lab to make videos and other content that could directly push back against the onslaught of Republican and right-wing talking points, racism, and lies. Since its launch, Creative Lab has produced thousands of powerful, fact-based videos that have been viewed hundreds of millions of times.

But, right now, MoveOn has a big problem. Donations to MoveOn have fallen sharply since last year, and unless MoveOn members step up, MoveOn won't have the resources to take on the right wing's conspiracy theories and lies.

If you are able to, please, rush a $5 monthly donation to MoveOn and help beat back right-wing lies.

Yes, I'll chip in monthly.

No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.

Thanks for all you do.

Petition: Background checks on firearms now

My name is Matthew, and I'm a teacher who believes that mass shootings should not be part of the nightly news like the weather, yet they are.

Petition: We must do all we can to prevent gun violence. The Senate should start by passing H.R.8, the Bipartisan Background Checks Bill.

Dear fellow MoveOn member,

My name is Matthew, and I'm a teacher who believes that mass shootings should not be part of the nightly news like the weather, yet they are. There have been way too many, including several in the past two months alone.

We aren't safe in our grocery stores, salons, movie theaters, at concerts, at work, in our places of worship, or even in our schools. Shooters have targeted people of color, religious minorities, the LGBTQIA community, women, and children. Students and teachers should not have to worry about being murdered at school, yet we do, every day. People should be able to worship in safety.

Sign now: The Senate must pass commonsense background check laws to prevent more lives being lost to gun violence.

Senators: Pass H.R.8, the Bipartisan Background Checks Act of 2021, and H.R.1446, the Enhanced Background Checks Act of 2021, NOW, because mass shootings should not be common. We must do all we can to prevent more gun violence.

Hundreds of people have died this year alone, and it's only May.1 I have family that attend synagogue in Pittsburgh, PA, near to where the tragedy at the Tree of Life Synagogue took place. Now, I worry they could be attacked while going to service. I've visited Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, SC, and the memorial at the Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, FL. These places are now forever marred by tragedy that could have been prevented.

Survivors and families are forever traumatized and altered. It is simply too easy to purchase firearms. We owe it to the survivors and the families of the slain to take action now. Honor their deaths and please tell Congress to pass these bills to make us all safer.

Click here to add your name to this petition, and then pass it along to your friends.

Thanks!

Sign the petition: NO gerrymandering in 2021

We cannot afford to let politicians draw deeply partisan and racially divisive districts that deprive voters of the chance to elect someone who shares their lived experiences.

Dear MoveOn member,

Every ten years, after the census has been completed, congressional districts and electoral maps are redrawn based on the newest data. How they're redrawn impacts voters nationwide for the next decade.

Sign now: Mapmakers must ensure the redistricting maps are drawn fairly and our voices are heard.

This year, Oregon, Montana, Colorado, Texas, Florida, and North Carolina are gaining congressional districts, and California, Illinois, Ohio, West Virginia, New York, Michigan, and Pennsylvania are losing one.1

But it's not just that: Partisan mapmakers, under the influence of self-interested politicians, draw new electoral maps that seek to marginalize Black and brown voters and, in many states, protect right-wing incumbents from competition.2,3 This is on top of the fact that the 2020 census was already highly problematic thanks to Donald Trump and the pandemic, and the data from it is tinged by corrupt influence.4

In 2019, a North Carolina court ruled that their state's legislative district map was unconstitutional because of extreme partisan gerrymandering. Together, we can demand that what happened in North Carolina does not happen again.

Whether your state's districts are drawn by the legislature or by an independent commission, mapmakers need to hear loud and clear that We the People will not be excluded from the redistricting process or silenced by gerrymandering, which lets political insiders and party bosses draw district lines that box out their competition and protect their own power at the expense of our communities.

2021 district mapmakers: We demand fair and transparent redistricting for all 50 states that doesn't put the needs of partisan politicians before the voices of communities or substitute alternative data for the 2020 census population counts. And we reject any attempts to gerrymander our maps and silence voters.

Now that the 2021 redistricting process has officially begun, we must speak out right now to stop partisan politicians from drawing rigged, unfair maps. Because if we don't, some power-hungry politicians will abuse their control of the process and draw gerrymandered maps—resorting to despicable tactics like "packing and cracking" to limit the political influence of Black and brown voters and protect incumbents from competition.

That's not how our democracy is supposed to work. Voters should choose their elected officials, not the other way around. And any efforts by politicians to interfere with the process—by using data that was not intended for redistricting or drawing rigged maps that ignore communities' voices—can't be swept under the rug.

That also means making sure that only the best, most precise population data available is used, which comes from the 2020 census. Using another source—especially one that was not designed for drawing maps—or conducting the entire process behind closed doors only creates further opportunities to gerrymander and abuse power.

These maps will shape our state legislatures and Congress for the next ten years. We cannot afford to let politicians draw deeply partisan and racially divisive districts that deprive voters of the chance to elect someone who shares their lived experiences.

If you agree, click here to add your name to this petition, and then pass it along to your friends.

Thanks!

RE: Tucker Carlson

Carlson has become the tip of the spear of the powerful right-wing media machine, the de facto leader of the racist, conspiracy-loving, pro-Donald Trump far right—and we need to fight back.

Dear MoveOn member,

Five nights a week, an average of more than 3 million people tune in to watch Tucker Carlson on Fox News—it's the largest audience of any show on cable news.1 In April alone, those millions of viewers have heard Carlson claim that COVID-19 vaccines don't work, that having children wear masks to protect them from the virus is child abuse, that convicted murderer Derek Chauvin did nothing wrong, and that Democrats want to replace white voters with immigrants—a decades-old racist and antisemitic argument known as the "replacement theory."2,3,4,5

Videos featuring Carlson's comments doubting the effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccines are spreading like wildfire on social media, with one clip viewed nearly 6 million times on Facebook alone.6

Carlson has become the tip of the spear of the powerful right-wing media machine, the de facto leader of the racist, conspiracy-loving, pro-Donald Trump far right—and we need to fight back.

MoveOn was built more than 20 years ago to be an organizing hub for the grassroots progressive movement, when we needed to break down the power of right-wing lies and fight back against the right-wing's billionaire backers, like Fox News owner Rupert Murdoch. We know how to do this really well, and we've fought and won over and over again during the past two decades.

Our country is at an inflection point now, and we cannot let racist ghouls like Carlson drive the message.

Ever since the beginning, MoveOn has been fueled not by billionaires, but by our members. We've never been beholden to a dictatorial overlord or corporate interests. We are accountable only to you and members like you, Mar. And in this moment, we need you.

Will you become one of our most dedicated donors by chipping in $5 a month to keep MoveOn strong and able to fight back against the right-wing media machine?

Yes, I'll chip in monthly.

No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.

In 2020, when we saw right-wing disinformation spreading unchecked across Facebook, often with the help of networks of bad actors intentionally pushing out disinformation to suppress votes or confuse the public, MoveOn spun up an entirely new staff team to identify, track, and get those networks taken down. We succeeded in taking down multiple networks, raising awareness, and educating voters on how to spot and avoid false and misleading information—even and especially if it came from someone like Carlson.

In the lead-up to the 2018 midterms, we pioneered a brand-new digital voter persuasion model, relying on personal videos shared by MoveOn members that could cut through the noise and right-wing nonsense and turn out voters. We succeeded in motivating more than 100,000 voters, helping to clinch victories for Democrats and take back the House of Representatives to stop the worst of Trump's abuses.

And in 2016, as lies by Fox News, Alex Jones, and other right-wing conspiracy content began to take off across social media, we launched our in-house Creative Lab to make videos and other content for social media that could directly push back against the onslaught of Republican and right-wing talking points, racism, and outright lies with powerful, fact-based content that inspires viewers and encourages them to get involved. Since its launch in 2016, Creative Lab has produced thousands of videos that have been viewed hundreds of millions of times.

MoveOn is always at the cutting edge and ready to use our grit, determination, and creativity to fight back against the forces that want to install Republicans in power permanently, strip rights away from vulnerable communities, and break our spirits. And we're able to do it on a budget that is a fraction of what Fox News, the Republican National Committee, and Trump and his deep-pocketed friends spend.

But we need your help to keep going, Mar. Will you chip in $5 a month to keep MoveOn strong now and for the fights to come?

Yes, I'll chip in monthly.

No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.

The fight for progress is a long one, but we are so grateful to be in the fight with you.

Thanks for all you do.

You should be proud!

Will you watch and share this inspiring video that details the monumental successes of President Biden's first 100 days in office? Will you watch and share this inspiring video that details the monumental successes of President Biden's first 100 days in office?

Dear MoveOn member,

Last week, President Biden detailed his hugely successful first 100 days in office. On Day 1 alone, the administration rejoined the Paris climate accord, reversed Trump's Muslim Ban, and ended the Keystone pipeline. And since then, the wins have kept on coming.

This administration has ended the ban on transgender troops. Ensured enough vaccines for every adult in America. And by Day 51, Biden signed the American Rescue Plan, one of the most impactful, progressive pieces of legislation that has passed in generations. Not only did the bill provide much-needed relief from four long years of Trump and the devastating pandemic, it will be one of the most effective laws to alleviate poverty for decades to come.

But as President Biden signaled last Wednesday night in his address to Congress and the nation, we are just getting started. In the months ahead, there is a critical need to pass more groundbreaking legislation, like the American Jobs Plan and the American Families Plan. These plans together include historic investments that support the revitalization of our bridges, expand broadband, and invests in child care, elder care, education, paid leave, and more. It's essential that we build upon these proposals to ensure they meet the scale of the crisis so that we can start to rebuild America again. That means they must include a pathway to citizenship for essential workers who sacrifice so much to keep our economy going, as well as a way to ensure the rich pay their fair share in taxes.

Click here to watch a compelling, motivational video that celebrates the wins thus far, and share it with friends and family as a reminder of what we can accomplish together in the next 100 days.

These fights weren't won by the administration alone. Our public pressure campaigns were pivotal in ensuring our victories thus far, and we know it will take continued support from members like you to continue the trend of passing bold legislation that works for all of us, not just the wealthy few.

Thanks for all you do.

Hope

To be quite honest, we didn't expect President Joe Biden to be this bold. But his blueprint for building back in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic—unveiled this week in his address to Congress—is the biggest and most progressive plan to invest in American jobs and families since the New Deal.

Dear MoveOn member,

To be quite honest, we didn't expect President Joe Biden to be this bold.

But his blueprint for building back in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic—unveiled this week in his address to Congress—is the biggest and most progressive plan to invest in American jobs and families since the New Deal.

President Biden's plan would provide Americans with paid family and medical leave, protect our planet, create green jobs to rebuild our infrastructure, and do much, much more.1

And he would make it all happen by finally requiring big corporations and the very wealthiest Americans to pay their fair share.2

But the right-wing attack on the plan was swift and full of lies—and will only escalate in the coming days. Mar, that's why we need to fight back.

Our team is preparing to launch a big, new TV ad campaign to hold Republicans in Congress accountable for opposing President Biden's plan.

But we need to recruit 1,000 new recurring donors by the end of this weekend to get the ads on the air. Will you chip in $5 a month to help keep these ads, and ads like them, on the air for as long as it takes to pass our progressive agenda?

Yes, I'll chip in monthly.

No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.

President Biden's plan is highly popular with Americans across the country—and across party lines—and yet, Republicans are still bowing down to their corporate and billionaire interests rather than supporting a policy that would lift their constituents out of poverty, boost our economy, and provide a road map for a better future.3

The most recent polling shows that an overwhelming 70% of Americans support components of the plan, and 64% support a plan to raise taxes on corporations and the ultra-rich to pay for it.4

These are Americans in every district, in every state. Rural Americans, urban, Black, white, young, old, Republican, and Democrat.

Our ads highlight this incredible public support for the plan and call out Senators Rubio, Paul, and Johnson, and the self-proclaimed Grim Reaper Mitch McConnell, who are turning their backs on their constituents by refusing to support these popular and essential policies in favor of doing the bidding of their billionaire friends and corporate backers.

We won't stand for it. Mar, will you help us get these ads on the air in Kentucky, Utah, Wisconsin, Florida, and Alaska to remind these Republican senators' constituents that the GOP is choosing the elite over the essential? Chip in $5 a month so we can keep up the pressure for as long as it takes.

Yes, I'll chip in monthly.

No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.

Republicans in Congress have one goal and one goal only: Block all legislation proposed by President Biden by refusing to even work with Democrats to find compromises and spouting lies on Fox News and right-wing outlets claiming that the Biden administration is doing nothing to help Americans.

That was their one and only plan when President Barack Obama was in the White House, and it is their one and only plan now.

We need to break through their lies and make sure that their constituents know the truth—and that is exactly what our ads will do.

Help us get our ads on the air, and keep them up, by chipping in $5 monthly.

Yes, I'll chip in monthly.

No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.

Thanks for all you do.

Want to support our work? Since President Joe Biden's inauguration, donations to MoveOn and other progressive organizations have plummeted. While we remain on solid financial footing, if this downturn continues, we could be forced to cut back our ambitious campaigning plans. RSVP: Ending America’s longest war with Rep. Barbara Lee

Will you join us on Tuesday, May 4 at 8 p.m. ET (7 CT/6 MT/5 PT)?

Dear MoveOn member,

Earlier this month, President Biden announced that he is pulling U.S. forces from Afghanistan in full, which is a monumental step toward ending the forever wars that have been used as justification for the war on terror against communities at home and abroad, destroyed countless lives, and unleashed violence on millions of Afghans, Iraqis, Syrians, Yemenis, Iranians and many others across the world.

Let's be clear: This critical step is the result of years of work of MoveOn members and activists all throughout the country, advocating for peace and diplomacy. There is still much work to be done to shift America's foreign policy from endless wars and disastrous Trump policies to diplomacy and justice. President Biden's promising first step in ending our longest war provides an opportunity to reimagine America's role in the world.

Join together with fellow MoveOn members this Tuesday for a national conversation with me and special guests Congresswoman Barbara Lee, activist Hoda Katebi, and MoveOn Executive Director Rahna Epting to hear about how we can take action to insist upon and create a foreign policy that rejects war and is instead rooted in human dignity, justice, and love.

Click here to RSVP to the new monthly livestream series of The Moment With MoveOn, on Tuesday, May 4 at 8 p.m. ET (7 CT/6 MT/5 PT).

Whether it's supporting a candidate, advocating for policies that deliver for the people, or working to transform our society so that it works for all of us, MoveOn members are committed to an inclusive and progressive future.

That's why we must come together to demand a foreign policy rooted in diplomacy, justice, love, and human dignity. That means redirecting bloated Pentagon spending that invests in conflict, human suffering, and war to instead invest in diplomacy and the improvement of human lives and livelihoods.

The Moment With MoveOn, a new monthly livestream, brings members together to dig into topics like these and more throughout the year as we discuss the important issues of the day and how to make an impact to create not just a country that works for all of us but a world that works for all of us.

Will you join The Moment With MoveOn, the new monthly livestream series, on Tuesday, May 4 at 8 p.m. ET (7 CT/6 MT/5 PT) with me and special guests Representative Barbara Lee, Hoda Katebi, and Rahna Epting? Click here to RSVP now.

Here's what this week's livestream will cover:

  • A strategic vision for American foreign policy that advances diplomacy and honors our collective humanity.

  • Talking with leaders like Rep. Barbara Lee, D-CA, widely known for her leadership in opposition to the Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF), which was used to create a culture of forever war 20 years ago, about the withdrawal of troops in Afghanistan and what happens next.

  • How MoveOn members can take action and get involved in current foreign policy fights like the Iran nuclear deal, ending the war in Afghanistan, and ending the US-backed Saudi blockade of Yemen.

Click here to RSVP to the new monthly livestream series The Moment With MoveOn, on Tuesday, May 4 at 8 p.m. ET (7 CT/6 MT/5 PT) and join special guests Rep. Barbara Lee, activist Hoda Katebi, and MoveOn Executive Director Rahna Epting.

Thanks for all you do.

Sign this petition re: Amazon's union-busting tactics

Why can't such a large and wealthy company do better for its workers?

Dear MoveOn member,

My name is Jennifer Bates, and I started working at Amazon in May of 2020, not too long after its warehouse opened in Bessemer, Alabama. By my third day, I was hurting. I looked around and saw it wasn't just me. My co-workers and I—including older, younger, and middle-aged people—limp from constantly moving products around a four-story building the size of 16 football fields, where we aren't allowed to use the elevators.

We tried to form a union, but Amazon spent millions of dollars to stop us. As soon as Amazon found out that we were working with the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union, it started going hard trying to stop the union drive. We were forced into what the company called "union education" meetings. We had no choice but to attend them.

Our fight for representation isn't over—and the fight to make sure that workers have full rights to organize has just begun. Will you join me in calling on our senators to pass the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act and make it harder for giant corporations like Amazon to prevent workers from unionizing?

All around the plant, Amazon had put up anti-union signs and messages. It sent messages to workers' phones. It even had signs posted in the bathroom stall. No place was off-limits. No place seemed safe.

This wouldn't have happened if the PRO Act—a significant piece of worker empowerment legislation that would change the power dynamics in America for generations—were law right now. It gives power back to workers and holds corporations accountable for union-busting. But since the Senate hasn't passed it yet, there's a real risk that other corporations will see what Amazon did in Bessemer and replicate it around the country.

Sign now: Tell our leaders in the U.S. Senate to support workers by passing the PRO Act!

The Protecting the Right to Organize Act already passed in the House with bipartisan support, and President Biden has shown his support by urging Congress to send it to his desk. Before that can happen, we have to urge our senators to support workers by passing it through the Senate.

We first started to talk about unionizing one day during a break. A co-worker said, "They wouldn't be doing this to us if we had a union."

Why can't such a large and wealthy company do better for its workers? Amazon even took away our essential worker pay in the middle of the pandemic. Meanwhile, Amazon has made tons of money during this crisis. Jeff Bezos is the richest man in the world. And now he's even richer, thanks to his workers.

Amazon continues to deny us good working conditions and claims we should be happy with what we have, and then it turns around and spends millions to tell us we don't need a union.

We're filing objections to hold the company accountable for its union-busting, but we also want to make sure corporations can't do this again. If the PRO Act passes, corporations would face consequences for that kind of union-busting behavior.

Facebook poised to cave to Trump

Facebook's "Oversight Board" is poised to make the decision "in the coming weeks," and media watchers expect it to give in to Trump, who has 35 million followers on Facebook and 24 million on Instagram.

Dear MoveOn member,

Facebook just announced that they have delayed the decision about whether to lift their ban on Donald Trump.1 This is an opening, Mar, but we need to act fast.

Facebook's "Oversight Board" is poised to make the decision "in the coming weeks," and media watchers expect it to give in to Trump, who has 35 million followers on Facebook and 24 million on Instagram.2,3 Trump's posts were regularly among the most read, shared, and commented-on posts on the platforms, where he incited violence, spewed racist hate, and raised many millions of dollars to line his pockets and pad his political war chest.

YouTube has already announced that it will let Trump back on its platform.4

We know how to combat Trump's lies as the social media giants cave to him. During last year's presidential election, MoveOn hired a team of researchers and digital sleuths who tracked, exposed, and helped shut down white supremacist and far-right disinformation networks. And MoveOn has joined with other organizations to demand that the government break up the big tech companies to reduce their destructive influence on our democracy and discourse. Now, we need to prepare to fight back on all of these fronts as soon as Trump re-emerges on social media.

But there's one big problem: Donations to MoveOn have dropped significantly since last year, and unless our members step up, we won't have the resources to take on Trump's conspiracy theories and lies at the scale it will surely require.

We need your help so we can be ready. Will you chip in $5 a month to help us fight back against Trump for as long as it takes?

Yes, I'll chip in monthly.

No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.

We all saw on January 6 how dangerous Trump's conspiracy theories can be, and Republicans—including Kevin McCarthy, the top-ranking Republican in the House—continue to push the Big Lie that the election was stolen to justify the most sweeping attack on voting rights since Jim Crow.5,6

After the insurrection, Trump was banned from social media, which took away his megaphone for spreading hate and disinformation. The last thing we need now is Trump back on the internet, especially as we fight tooth and nail to reach herd immunity and end the COVID-19 nightmare.

Meanwhile, after four years of resistance, donations to MoveOn and other progressive groups have fallen off significantly. We get it. We all want a break after Trump, and MoveOn members fought, organized, and donated tirelessly through the Trump years. Unfortunately, now is the time when Biden and the Democrats need us pushing them the most—and when the newly emboldened right wing is stepping up its attacks.

It's a recipe for disaster. Donald Trump comes back to social media, and progressives don't have the resources to fight back.

We know how to limit the damage of Trump's disinformation. We have to track it, call it out, and demand that the big social media networks shut it down. But it isn't cheap or easy. Disinformation spreads like wildfire on social media, and it will take an incredible amount of pressure to get Facebook, YouTube, and other social media companies to take action.

That's why we're asking you become a monthly donor now, so that we're ready the minute Trump's social media ban is lifted and can keep up the fight for as long as it takes. Will you chip in $5 a month?

Yes, I'll chip in monthly.

No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.

Thanks for all you do.

Sign this petition re: Citizenship for essential workers

I've seen first-hand how critical essential workers are to our nation's infrastructure—they're the backbone of our society, and have kept us all fed, healthy, and safe throughout this pandemic.

Sign my petition to ask President Biden to include the Citizenship for Essential Workers Act in his plan to Build Back Better. Immigrant essential workers are doing crucial work. Immigrants are a critical part of our nation's infrastructure, and must have a pathway to citizenship now.

Dear MoveOn member,

I'm Senator Alex Padilla, son of working-class Mexican immigrants, and California's first Latino United States senator. Growing up, my parents selflessly did everything they could to provide for us. I couldn't even tell you how many pancakes my dad flipped or eggs he scrambled, how many houses my mom cleaned, or how many cans, cardboard boxes, and newspapers my dad gathered to recycle to bring in more money to make ends meet.

I've seen firsthand how critical essential workers are to our nation's infrastructure—they're the backbone of our society, and have kept us all fed, healthy, and safe throughout this pandemic. Over 5 million of these workers are undocumented immigrants—they are among the farmworkers, meatpackers, nurses, janitors, construction workers, grocery store clerks, truck drivers, restaurant cooks, domestic workers, home health care aides, emergency first responders, and so many others who have stepped up for our nation during this unprecedented crisis.1

That's why my very first bill is the Citizenship for Essential Workers Act, which would create a pathway to citizenship for these American heroes who are citizens in every way but name and status. President Biden has a chance to recognize and reward the sacrifices and labor of essential workers in his upcoming Build Back Better legislative package, which is focused on jobs and infrastructure. We just have to make sure he hears from all of us.

Will you sign my petition to ask President Biden to prioritize the inclusion of the Citizenship for Essential Workers Act as part of the American Families Plan?

Essential workers paid a terrible toll this past year.2 Their work is often physically demanding—providing food, critical care, and more for the larger community—all at low wages that compound the socioeconomic and racial disparities in our country. A path to citizenship for essential workers is a critical part of building our economy back better.

The upcoming legislative package on jobs and infrastructure is the best opportunity to recognize and reward the sacrifices and labor of essential workers. These immigrant essential workers are citizens in all but name and status—and President Biden can change that now.

As usual, Republicans continue to refuse to advance immigration legislation supported by the overwhelming majority of the American people. In fact, a bipartisan majority of Americans agree that a path to citizenship for essential workers is the right thing to do.3

Essential workers are American heroes—and President Biden has the opportunity to provide a pathway to citizenship by supporting this important legislation now.

Click here to add your name to this petition, then pass it along to your friends.

Thanks for all you do.

Want to support our work? Since President Joe Biden's inauguration, donations to MoveOn and other progressive organizations have plummeted. While we remain on solid financial footing, if this downturn continues, we could be forced to cut back our ambitious campaigning plans. With so much on the line, we can't afford to shrink our plans—or our budget. So we're writing you with an important question:

Will you chip in to power the fight for a progressive future?

Yes, I'll chip in $5 a month.

No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.
