This is terrifying

Mar, this election is about democracy versus authoritarianism. The stakes have never been higher.

Dear MoveOn member,

When Donald Trump got onto the stage to accept the Republican nomination for president last week, he goaded his supporters into chanting "12 more years," not "four more years." And they did.

It tops off a profoundly frightening month in which Trump

  • said he could postpone the election,
  • threatened to send police to polling stations,
  • sent secret federal agents into cities to attack peaceful protesters, and
  • tried to sabotage the post office to suppress the vote.

Mar, this election is about democracy versus authoritarianism. The stakes have never been higher.

And that's why I'm writing to you today.

MoveOn's team just updated me on their plans to turn out "high-potential voters"—young people, people of color, and first-time voters—in 10 battleground states, and I'm so impressed by how innovative, data-driven, and strategic it is. It's ambitious, bold, and meets the moment.

But MoveOn needs to raise $500,000 this week—and every week until Election Day—to pull off their plans, turn out voters, and ensure that each and every ballot is counted. And MoveOn is counting on tens of thousands of small donations from members like you to make it possible.

If you're able, will you chip in $3 a week? (MoveOn will bill your weekly donation to your credit card once a month starting today and will contact you shortly after the election to see if you want to modify or cancel your weekly donation.)

Count me in.

No, I'm sorry, I can't chip in weekly.

If you think Trump is on the ropes and will surely lose in November, think again.

Our side has limits because we believe in democracy. Trump has no limits because he doesn't.

Trump will do anything to be re-elected.

Which is why we need to go all-in, starting right now, with voter education, mobilization, and turnout. And here's what impresses me about MoveOn's plan—and why I'm writing to you today: The scale and sophistication of their plan are needed to fight Trump's corruption, lies, and cheating.

The bottom line: MoveOn is on track to recruit and organize more than 1 million volunteers to turn out people they personally know. Yes, 1 million.

But none of it will happen without support from members like you. Will you chip in $3 a week? (MoveOn will bill your weekly donation to your credit card once a month starting today and will contact you shortly after the election to see if you want to modify or cancel your weekly donation.)

Count me in.

No, I'm sorry, I can't chip in weekly.

Here's some of what MoveOn has planned:

  • Running an innovative friend-to-friend voter mobilization program called "Vote Tripling." Recent studies have shown that one of the most effective ways to turn out voters is if their friends and family encourage them to vote. So MoveOn is asking its members to take Vote Tripling pledges: pledges to reach out to three friends, help them make a plan to vote, and ensure they vote in the fall.
  • Flexing their analytical muscles to identify and inspire "high-potential voters." MoveOn's research shows that there are millions of voters across the 10 battleground states who are progressive but often stay home on Election Day: young voters, new citizens, voters of color, low-income voters, and others who are often ignored by campaigns. MoveOn's crack analytics team is building algorithms to identify these voters so they can target them with authentic, inspiring content to encourage them to vote. If only a fraction of them cast a ballot, it will make all the difference.
  • Fighting back against GOP voter suppression and online disinformation. Just like 2016, white supremacists, far-right extremists, and foreign actors are going all-in to spread disinformation online to suppress voter turnout. But unlike 2016, we're ready to fight back. MoveOn has hired a team of researchers and digital sleuths who are tracking disinformation networks, exposing them, and demanding that social media companies like Facebook take them down so they can't do any more harm.

This is the work we need to do. And MoveOn has the plan to do it. But it's going to take each and every one of us to dig deep and chip in financially to make sure that on November 3 we put an end to the Trump presidency once and for all.

Join me, please, and chip in $3 a week to fund this critical work for as long as it takes. (MoveOn will bill your weekly donation to your credit card once a month starting today and will contact you shortly after the election to see if you want to modify or cancel your weekly donation.)

Count me in.

No, I'm sorry, I can't chip in weekly.

Thanks for all you do.

Sign the petition re: Trump's visit to Kenosha, WI

Sign the petition to tell Donald Trump: You are not welcome in Kenosha, WI.

Dear fellow MoveOn member,

Donald Trump is planning to visit Kenosha, WI, on September 1 "to meet with law enforcement and to survey some of the damage from the recent protests."1

Trump is not concerned about Kenosha or Wisconsin, which are reeling from the recent tragedy of the police shooting of Jacob Blake, a young Black man. Trump hasn't even reached out to Blake's family!2

Trump's visit to Kenosha is merely a political ploy and a photo opportunity that will only further jeopardize the healing of Kenosha and of Wisconsin. Kenosha residents don't want Trump to visit, worried that it will cause violence and destruction.3 Kenosha's mayor and the governor of Wisconsin have asked Trump not to come.4,5

Sign the petition to make it clear to Trump: You are not welcome in Kenosha, WI.

Donald Trump's upcoming visit to Kenosha, WI, will not help the city and the state heal.

His hateful rhetoric will only sow division.

He must listen to the people of Kenosha and Wisconsin who are telling him they don't want him to visit.

Trump has shown no regard for the Black lives of Kenosha or Wisconsin, nor for Jacob Blake and the Blake family, who are in immense pain yet are calling for healing and peace.6

Trump is using the open wound of Kenosha to benefit his political campaign. This is abhorrent, unethical, and divisive.

We, residents of Wisconsin and supporters of peaceful advocacy for racial justice, do not wish to give Trump consent to use us this way. Will you sign the petition to stand with Kenosha and Wisconsin?

Click here to add your name to this petition, and then pass it along to your friends.

Thanks!

Let's talk about what *wasn't* featured at the RNC this week

It's clear that we need a change: Sign up to get out the vote this November!

Dear MoveOn member,

If you happened to tune in to the RNC this week or read about it on the news or on social media, you probably didn't see much that you weren't already expecting.

The Republican National Convention and nomination of Donald Trump produced a steady stream of lies, attempts to rewrite history, and racist vitriol—all with a heavy dose of authoritarianism and flouting of ethics guidelines thrown in for good measure. In short, the RNC was a perfect reflection of Trump's administration and what he's offered the country over his first term.

One thing was made crystal clear this week: We can't afford another four years of Trump and his GOP enablers in office.

But winning this election isn't going to be easy. It's going to take all of us, working together to get out the vote, especially in key battleground states.

That's why MoveOn members have been joining our Mobilize to Win program, organizing their friends, family, colleagues, classmates, and community members to get out the vote in November. Will you sign up to be a Vote Mobilizer here?

We don't need to spend a lot of time discussing what happened at the RNC to know what Trump is offering up for the next four years.

Instead, I wanted to share with you a few things that I noticed were *not* featured at the RNC:

The climate crisis: With hurricanes bearing down on the Gulf Coast, derechos impacting the Midwest, and wildfires raging across California, Americans are facing down the impacts of climate change every day. But not a single RNC speaker mentioned the climate crisis, let alone a plan to tackle it.

- Victims of the coronavirus pandemic: Many speakers at the RNC spoke about the coronavirus pandemic in the past tense, ignoring the growing number of cases around the country and doing little to honor the nearly 200,000 Americans who have died of this virus or the millions more who have fallen ill.

- The unemployment and eviction crises: With tens of millions of Americans unemployed and/or facing the threat of eviction from their homes, the absence of any discussion of these crises—or mention of the GOP-controlled Senate's continued refusal to make progress on legislative solutions—was glaring.

- Those caught up in Trump's draconian immigration system: The RNC made no mention of the migrants who have been banned, caged, or refused entry into the U.S. by Trump's white nationalist immigration policies, nor of the hundreds of thousands of DACA recipients and millions of other undocumented immigrants who have had to live in fear of his administration's deportation forces.

And there are so many other issues impacting everyday people that weren't discussed at the RNC, and so many voices that weren't part of the conversation. If you're wondering why, the answer is simple: Trump and the GOP just don't have the interests of working people in mind. Instead, they are focused on building and maintaining their own power—and making sure that the wealthy and powerful interests get even richer and more powerful.

In order to make sure that the issues that matter to us are dealt with and that all of our voices are heard, it's up to us to organize, motivate, and mobilize ourselves and people we know to get out this November and vote Trump out of office.

The Mobilize to Win program, powered by thousands of MoveOn members, helps us do just that. As a Vote Mobilizer, you can play a crucial role in getting out the vote in November—and we'll give you the tools, training, and support you need to make it happen. Sign up here as a Vote Mobilizer, and let's work together to make sure Trump is a one-term president.

Thanks for all you do.

Take action to show your solidarity with athletes

Enough is enough. Police violence and brutality is a systemic issue that touches all Black communities, and we demand real solutions.

Dear MoveOn member,

Following Sunday's horrific police shooting of Jacob Blake, professional athletes in the most popular American sports leagues—including the NBA, WNBA, MLB, and MLS—went on strike.

From basketball to baseball to tennis, athletes are sending a clear message: Enough is enough. Police violence and brutality are systemic issues that touch all Black communities, and we demand real solutions.

People all across the country are supporting these athletes and the movement for Black lives by showing their solidarity with these strikes. Will you share this graphic on Twitter and demonstrate your support for this courageous and powerful message from professional athletes across various sports?

These strikes are demarcating a historic moment in the sports world and in the fight for justice. Demonstrate your support and make sure that your friends and family join in.

Since the police killings of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor earlier this summer, there's been an unprecedented level of energy demanding justice for Black lives. In cities, towns, and neighborhoods all across the U.S., people have been taking action, from pressuring their local officials to defund the police to going out on the streets and facing tear gas and rubber bullets from militarized and violent law enforcement.

Now, professional athletes, many of whom have already been vocal in their support of the movement for Black lives, have taken the bold step of withholding their labor—potentially risking their livelihoods and facing retaliation from team owners and league officials.

These athletes taking a risk to further the cause of justice need to see our support.

Can you show your solidarity by sharing this graphic? Click here to tweet it out!

Thanks for all you do.

Joni Ernst is in trouble. Last night might have ended her career.

Last night, Iowa Republican Senator Joni Ernst spoke at the Republican National Convention and claimed that a President Joe Biden would ban farm animals.

Dear MoveOn member,

Last night, Iowa Republican Senator Joni Ernst spoke at the Republican National Convention and claimed that a President Joe Biden would ban farm animals.1

That's right. Republicans are so desperate they're telling Iowans that Democrats want to ban farm animals. Cable commentators burst out laughing it was so absurd.2

That's not the only laughable thing she said yesterday. Ernst sent out a fundraising email for Donald Trump's campaign calling Trump "the hero we need."3 On top of that, she has voted with Trump and Mitch McConnell more than 90% of the time, helping to earn her one of the worst approval ratings in the country.4,5

Ernst is running for re-election this year and her race against Democrat Theresa Greenfield is neck and neck. In fact, the last three polls in a row from Iowa have shown Ernst losing.6 And here's the best part: If Joni Ernst loses re-election, Mitch McConnell will almost surely lose his Senate majority.

Republican megadonors are going to do everything they can to keep Ernst in the Senate, which is why we are aiming to raise $100,000 for Theresa Greenfield in the next 24 hours—to show Donald Trump, Mitch McConnell, Joni Ernst, and their dark-money donors that our grassroots movement is more powerful than their lies.

Mar, will you chip in $3 now to Theresa Greenfield's campaign?

No other Republican in such a close re-election campaign has showed up to speak at the Republican National Convention to heap praise on Trump.7 Republicans like Susan Collins, Martha McSally, and Cory Gardner know that Trump is politically toxic and don't want to be anywhere near him.

So when Joni Ernst appeared at the RNC, it was clearly a risk. Then she made it worse with bizarre claims that if Joe Biden is elected, he would ban farm animals—and gas-powered cars. She also said that Obama-Biden clean water rules regulated "97 percent of land in Iowa, in some cases even puddles." The New York Times' real time fact-checkers said "there's no basis for that claim."8

Raising $100,000 in grassroots donations for Theresa Greenfield's campaign against Ernst would be amazing. It would show Ernst and McConnell that we have them on the ropes.

Will you donate $3 to Theresa Greenfield and help defeat Joni Ernst?

While Joni Ernst has spent her time carrying water for the Trump administration, Theresa Greenfield has been hard at work supporting Iowans and pushing for policies that will benefit the many, rather than the few.

A native Iowan who grew up on a family farm, Theresa has seen firsthand the devastating realities of climate change on rural communities and small businesses and will fight for legislation to tackle the climate crisis. Sen. Ernst, on the other hand, doesn't even admit that climate change exists.9

As a young widow and single mother of two children, Theresa relied on Social Security survivor benefits and will fight to protect Social Security. Sen. Ernst has said she only wants to discuss Social Security "behind closed doors."10

Theresa is a proud supporter of Planned Parenthood and is committed to fighting for abortion access and reproductive health care for all people, no matter where they live or how much money they make. Sen. Ernst has repeatedly introduced bills in Congress to defund Planned Parenthood and make it even more difficult for low-income people to access abortion.11

Theresa supports the Black Lives Matter movement, will push for the restoration of the Voting Rights Act when in the Senate, and supports policing reforms to end the epidemic of police violence against Black Americans and people of color. Sen. Ernst said that the protesters demanding racial justice in the wake of the murder of George Floyd were "just trying to be provocative."12

Joni Ernst has proven over and over again that she does not deserve her seat in the Senate. Theresa Greenfield does.

Donate $3 to Theresa's campaign right now and help defeat Joni Ernst and end Mitch McConnell's control of the Senate.

Thanks for all you do.

Breonna Taylor

As new tragedies at the hands of the police gain national attention, we're unearthing new, disturbing news about what happened to Breonna Taylor.

Dear MoveOn member,

Police violence against Black people continues to escalate—and as new tragedies at the hands of the police gain national attention, like the police shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, WI,1 we're unearthing new, disturbing news about what happened to Breonna Taylor.2

It's now been over 165 days since Breonna Taylor's death, and yet zero progress has been made in charging the police officers, Brett Hankison, Jonathan Mattingly, and Myles Cosgrove, who shot her eight times and killed her.

As we once again lift up our voices to demand justice for the ever-growing list of victims and survivors of police violence, we need to make sure Breonna's case continues to receive the attention—and outrage—that it deserves.

Will you call Attorney General Cameron's office to demand justice for Breonna Taylor?

  • (502) 429-7134 - Louisville office of Attorney General Daniel Cameron

After you call, click here to tell us how it went.

Attorney General Daniel Cameron, who decides whether or not Breonna's killers are held accountable, is feeling the pressure and the public scrutiny it's causing. He recently met with Breonna's family to offer his condolences but has yet to make clear how justice will be served in this case.Let's keep the pressure growing.

Since Breonna's death, her community, as well as supporters all over the country, made progress toward justice for Breonna:

  • Louisville banned the no-knock warrants that helped police kill Breonna Taylor.4
  • The Louisville Metropolitan Police Department dropped the charges against Breonna's partner, Kenneth Walker, who fired his gun in an attempt to protect himself and Breonna when the police barged into their home unannounced.5
  • LMPD released the 911 call Kenneth made that proves all this.6
  • LMPD Chief Steve Conrad, who was set to retire, was fired.7

Our advocacy is working, and together we will continue to demand that justice is served for Breonna and her family.

Will you make a call for Breonna Taylor now?

Thanks for all you do.

Jacob Blake (petition)

The police officers who shot and paralyzed Jacob Blake must be held accountable.

Dear MoveOn member,

On Sunday, August 23, Jacob Blake was shot by Kenosha, WI, police officers at least seven times at close range—as his three sons watched.1,2 Witnesses say Blake was unarmed and only trying to break up a fight when dozens of police cars from Kenosha Police, the Kenosha County Sheriff's Department, and the Wisconsin State Patrol showed up.

Jacob Blake, a 29-year-old father, is now paralyzed from the waist down, and doctors do not know yet if the injury is permanent.3

Sign the petition calling on the Kenosha mayor, the district attorney, and the state attorney general to hold the police officers who shot Jacob Blake accountable.

Kenosha Mayor John Antaramian, District Attorney Michael D. Graveley, and State Attorney General Josh Kaul:

We are demanding that you immediately fire and hold legally accountable the police officers who shot Jacob Blake. They attempted to murder a father in front of his children and are clearly unfit to serve.

You must ensure there is justice for Blake and his family by holding all of the police officers involved in his shooting accountable to the full extent of the law.

It's unbelievable that months after George Floyd and Breonna Taylor's murders ignited nationwide outrage against police brutality, police officers still feel empowered to use excessive and indiscriminate violence.

We can't allow for Jacob Blake to be just another name to add to the long list of Black people hurt at the hands of the police. He deserves justice. His sons, traumatized by witnessing police officers shoot their father, deserve justice. Their community deserves justice. The police officers involved in Blake's shooting must be fired, arrested, charged, and prosecuted.

Sign this petition demanding that the police officers who shot and paralyzed Jacob Blake be held accountable.

Thanks.

If you're a progressive, you need to read this email

We are only six days away from two of the last and most important primary elections of 2020. Both of these races are in Massachusetts—and they have huge, national implications for our progressive movement.

Dear MoveOn member,

In just a moment, we are going to ask you to split a $3 contribution between two incredible progressive candidates. But first we'd like to explain why this request—especially today—is so important.

We are only six days away from two of the last and most important primary elections of 2020. Both of these races are in Massachusetts—and they have huge, national implications for our progressive movement.

Senator Ed Markey, a progressive champion and the son of a milkman, is facing a stiff challenge. Markey is the co-author of the Green New Deal and a champion for Medicare for All, and that's why Senator Elizabeth Warren and Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez are doing everything they can to ensure he's re-elected.1

In Western Massachusetts, Alex Morse—a young, gay, progressive, small-town mayor—is challenging powerful 30-year incumbent Richard Neal, who is a centrist establishment Democrat and a major roadblock to passing real, progressive legislation. Unlike Neal, who is one of the top recipients of corporate PAC dollars in Congress, Morse rejects all corporate PAC money.2

In these times, we need bold leaders—not timid politicians—in Congress. Markey and Morse's elections are only DAYS away, and the polls are in a DEAD HEAT.3 It's in situations like these where every single dollar counts.

Will you chip in $3 to help elect these two MoveOn member-endorsed candidates? Your donation will be split between their campaigns and will help them reach more voters in the crucial final days before the election.

In order to build a world marked by equality, sustainability, justice, and love, we need leaders in Congress who fight for us, not billionaires or special interests.

That means we do everything in our power to defeat Trump and the GOP.

But it also means that we challenge Democrats like Richard Neal—who are funded by corporations—and do everything we can to replace them with real progressives like Alex Morse.

And it means we fight with all our heart to defend tried-and-true progressive champions like Ed Markey.

With only six days until Election Day, and with the polls neck and neck, your contribution today can make all the difference.

With time quickly running out before Election Day, can you rush a $3 donation today to help out Markey and Morse?

Thanks for all you do.

This could be what hands Trump a second term

That's why I'm urgently writing to you today, to tell you about MoveOn's efforts to combat these lies, save our elections, and make sure every vote is counted.

Dear MoveOn member,

I'll cut to the chase: I'm pissed off—and not just because the Republican National Convention is this week.

According to a shocking report, nearly half of all top-performing Facebook posts that mention voting by mail are false or misleading.1

These lies are being spread by right-wing Trump-supporting groups at a time when millions of voters are planning to cast mail-in ballots, and they are specifically targeting people likely to vote for Democrats.2 And Trump is doing nothing to stop them: As the Republican National Convention kicked off yesterday, he spent an entire 20-minute speech repeating many of these lies.

Let's call these lies what they are: voter suppression—and they have the potential to hand Trump a second term.

That's why I'm urgently writing to you today to tell you about MoveOn's efforts to combat these lies, save our elections, and make sure that every vote is counted.

MoveOn has hired a team of digital detectives who are tracking right-wing disinformation networks online, following the threads to their source, and exposing their impact. Most importantly, MoveOn's digital sleuths are pressuring social media platforms like Facebook to take down these posts.

And MoveOn's video team is creating ads that will provide voters the information they need to properly and safely vote this year. MoveOn has big plans to target these ads to young voters, voters of color, and first-time voters in 10 critical battleground states that will decide control of the White House and Senate.

But MoveOn needs your help to ensure these efforts are as big and bold as possible all the way through Election Day.

Will you chip in $3 a week to help MoveOn take down right-wing lies and to help provide voters with the information that they need to safely and securely cast their ballots? (MoveOn will bill your weekly donation to your credit card once a month starting today and will contact you shortly after the election to see if you want to modify or cancel your weekly donation.)

Count me in.

No, I'm sorry, I can't chip in weekly.

Mar, investigators say that the right wing is spreading "false claims, including conspiracy theories about stolen elections or outright misrepresentations about voting by mail" on Facebook, reaching and misinforming millions of voters.3

So, what's Facebook doing to stop these lies and protect our democratic process? Barely lifting a finger.

In fact, leaked internal materials show that Facebook purposely "relaxed its rules so that conservative pages ... were not penalized for violations of the company's misinformation policies."4

Despicable.

Facebook even gave preferential treatment to Breitbart and Charlie Kirk, the racist right-winger who spoke at the Republican National Convention last night and spent his time spewing even more lies.5

We simply MUST combat these lies. Because if we don't, they could spread to millions of voters in critical battleground states, confuse voters, depress turnout, and potentially even lead to Trump's re-election.

Will you chip in $3 a week to fuel MoveOn's campaign to take down right-wing lies on social media in the lead up to Election Day? (MoveOn will bill your weekly donation to your credit card once a month starting today and will contact you shortly after the election to see if you want to modify or cancel your weekly donation.)

Count me in.

No, I'm sorry, I can't chip in weekly.

It won't be enough to simply take down these lies intended to suppress the vote. We have a lot of work to do to ensure every single voter has what they need to vote safely and securely this November.

One poll found that 50% of young voters—a crucial Democratic constituency—say they don't have the resources or knowledge they need to vote by mail in November.6

That's why MoveOn is creating videos on the voting process that will provide key voters—including young voters, voters of color, and first-time voters—in swing states the information they need to cast their ballots.

MoveOn is hard at work creating video ads that will show voters how to

  • request their mail-in ballot,
  • properly fill out and return their mail-in ballot,
  • find their local polling station, if they choose to vote in person,
  • and much, much more.

I'll be frank: Getting this critical information out to voters in battleground states isn't cheap.

So, will you chip in $3 a week to fund these critical ads and ensure every voter has the information they need to safely vote this November? (MoveOn will bill your weekly donation to your credit card once a month starting today and will contact you shortly after the election to see if you want to modify or cancel your weekly donation.)

Count me in.

No, I'm sorry, I can't chip in weekly.

Thanks for all you do.

–Robert Reich

I believe that you'll choose the brave path

Mar, will you speak out?

Mar,

In an essay published in The Nation in 2015, Toni Morrisson, the writer and Nobel Prize winner, wrote about how she felt during a time when the world seemed broken.1 She felt helpless, depressed, as though she was paralyzed.

In a conversation with a friend, Morrison realized that it is in these difficult moments, when "the world is bruised and bleeding," that we have to take action. She understood that "there is no time for despair, no place for self-pity, no need for silence, no room for fear."

And right now, in our current difficult moment, we must listen to Toni Morrison's wisdom and not remain silent. We must speak out, and we must take action, because that is how, in her words, "civilizations heal."

Mar, take action by starting a MoveOn petition on an issue that you care about.

Petitions started by MoveOn members like you have played a part in many important fights, including these recent victories:

A MoveOn member started a petition calling on the Texas Medical Association to withdraw its support of the Texas GOP in-person convention—and the group called on organizers to cancel the convention.

A MoveOn petition demanded the Washington, D.C., NFL franchise change the team name that is offensive to Native Americans—and the team ownership committed to changing the name.

Two MoveOn members created separate petitions calling on Congress to pass a coronavirus relief benefit to help essential, frontline workers—and on July 21, the 2.5 million signatures from these petitions were delivered to Congress in a multi-organizational effort to demand the HEROES Act be passed.

By starting a MoveOn petition, you can shine a spotlight on a problem, make it part of a national conversation, and help bring about a solution.

In these desperate times, Mar, when you may be overwhelmed or even scared, I believe that you'll choose the brave path and speak out—for yourself or for others who who need our support.

Thanks for all you do.

Sign the petition re: the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge

Add your name to stop oil and gas drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

Sign the petition demanding the Department of Interior protect the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge from drilling.

Dear MoveOn member,

America's largest remaining stretch of pristine wilderness—the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska—could very soon be under siege by the oil and gas industry.

The Trump administration has finalized its plan to open up the refuge to drilling for oil and gas for the first time.1 The Interior Department announced it will now begin preparations to auction off drilling leases. The first lease to drill could be sold by the end of 2020.2

The Arctic and its rare wildlife are already facing existential threats from the climate crisis. Handing this pristine wilderness to the fossil fuel industry will only accelerate the climate emergency and wildlife extinction crisis.

And it is unacceptable that in pursuit of profit, the land that is home to Indigenous communities in Northern Alaska, who not only consider the region sacred but also depend upon the local ecosystem for their subsistence living, will be irreparably damaged.

There's no time to waste. Add your signature now to demand the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge be protected from drilling.

If Big Oil is allowed to drill in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, this wild landscape, precious to the people and the wildlife that depend upon it, will be forever scarred. And once drilling rights are sold, it will be difficult to reverse course.

Sign this petition to urge Interior Secretary David Bernhardt to protect the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

The climate crisis continues to ravage communities and wildlife habitats across the globe, and at the current rate, the Arctic could be without ice in the summer by 2040.3 Opening the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to oil and gas drilling will worsen both the climate and wildlife extinction crises. Burning the recoverable oil estimated in the refuge could result in more than 4.3 billion tons of carbon dioxide pollution.4

We should be acting to protect what little's left of our pristine land, not helping the fossil fuel industry continue to wreak havoc on Earth's climate, indigenous communities, and wildlife.

Will you call on the Department of the Interior and its secretary, David Bernhardt, to immediately halt the sales of drilling leases in the refuge? Click here to add your name to this petition, and then pass it along to your friends.

Thanks!
