Truly scary news for Trump 🎃

One of the most respected pollsters in the country has released stunning new polling on impeachment.

Dear MoveOn member,

One of the most respected pollsters in the country has released stunning new polling on impeachment.

The pollster, Ann Selzer, used language that is more accessible than is typical in a national poll, asking, "Is it okay with you or not okay for political candidates in the U.S. to ask for assistance from a foreign government to help them win an election?"1

Just 7% of U.S. adults said it's okay. Eighty-one percent said it is not okay.2

Polling this lopsided is simply unheard of today. These findings are devastating for Donald Trump. And a HUGE opportunity for us.

That's why we're poised to hire organizers and film crews to stake out Capitol Hill in order to ask that simple question to GOP members of Congress, catch their responses on camera, and then run those videos as ads to make sure that their constituents see it.

Already, our staff have caught multiple Republican members of the House doing anything they can to avoid being confronted with the hard truth about Trump's abuse of power, including pretending to be on the phone, running through stairwells, and hiding in elevators. And we rapidly released these videos within hours. So far, GOP members can't and won't answer this question—which is why we need to keep confronting them and putting out the videos for voters to see.

Eddie, we need your help to hire the organizers and film crews, cut videos into ads, and distribute them online. Will you chip in $3 now?

We know that this is effective. Back in 2018, then-Senator Jeff Flake was ready to vote to confirm Brett Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court, until an activist confronted him on Capitol Hill and shared her personal story of sexual assault—all captured on video that quickly went viral. In response, Flake changed his mind, only moments before the vote.3

We can, and must, do that again now. And many times over.

During the Kavanaugh fight, we simply didn't do enough of this "bird dogging"—staking out senators' offices, committee hearing rooms, the Senate floor, and the routes in between to confront enough GOP senators and capture the moments for the world to see.

When we corner a member of Congress and capture their response on video, it can be game-changing, as it was for then-Senator Flake.

But it's also very time-consuming and takes teams of people working together to track down members of Congress, who are simultaneously doing everything they can to avoid the public.

If we can increase our presence on Capitol Hill and create a steady stream of these videos in the media and on the air, GOP members of Congress will face a stark reality: very visibly say it is okay for Trump to ask a foreign government for help to win the 2020 election, or say it is not okay.

This a clear, simple, straightforward message to send to elected officials, the media, and the public—and it will ensure that the ever-changing and convoluted talking points from Trump's administration and his loyalists in the right-wing media fall on deaf ears. But it's resource intensive to hire and train enough organizers to successfully track down GOP members of Congress, have film crews to capture it all on high-quality video, rapidly edit and produce the videos, and then make sure they are seen by voters back home.

Will you chip in $3 now to help us put organizers and video crews on the ground on Capitol Hill?

Yes, I'm in! I'll chip in now.

As the impeachment inquiry heads into the next phase, with public hearings and a vote in the House, we can expect that Trump will get more desperate and that his cronies in Congress will pull out all the stops to deflect, distract, and disrupt the proceedings.

We have to stay focused, and not let their chaotic actions rule the news cycle.

That's why MoveOn is hiring organizers in four key states to build local pressure on key senators. It's why we've launched a rapid-response network to activate hundreds of rallies the day before the House votes on impeachment. And it's why we now want to launch this massive bird dogging effort to force GOP members of Congress to answer the simple question at the heart of the Ukraine scandal and the impeachment inquiry.

We have to put our foot on the gas. Will you join us and chip in $3 now?

Thanks for all you do.

Call and thank Rep. Meeks for supporting impeachment!

On Thursday, the House of Representatives will vote on procedures for the next phase of the impeachment inquiry.
Dear MoveOn member,

On Thursday, the House of Representatives will vote on procedures for the next phase of the impeachment inquiry.

While this is only a procedural vote, it will carry national significance, as it will show that Congress is moving forward forcefully. This vote will also tell us which members of Congress are ready to declare that nobody is above the law, and which are still too timid to defend our Constitution and our country.

This vote comes as even more testimony—including from decorated Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Vindman—adds to the undeniable evidence that Trump brazenly broke the law and tried to bully Ukraine into interfering in U.S. elections.

Representative Gregory W. Meeks has supported this impeachment inquiry. Can you call to thank him and tell him that you will get his back as long as he fights to hold Trump accountable?

Here's where to call:
Trump has abused his powers and flaunted the law repeatedly. And now, finally, Congress is using its powers to investigate and hold him accountable. Let's make sure they keep it up.

Nobody is above the law. It's in our power to stand up to Trump. And we'll keep calling, pushing, and fighting to ensure Congress keeps moving forward on impeachment.

Thanks for all you do.

This is my forecast on impeachment

Last Tuesday was the beginning of the end of Donald Trump's presidency. For weeks, the conventional wisdom has been that the House will impeach Trump, but that the Senate's GOP majority will exonerate him.

Dear fellow MoveOn member,

Last Tuesday was the beginning of the end of Donald Trump's presidency.

For weeks, the conventional wisdom has been that the House will impeach Trump, but that the Senate's GOP majority will exonerate him.

But now that Bill Taylor, the top U.S. official in Ukraine and a 50-year career civil servant, has provided irrefutable evidence that Trump made aid for Ukraine contingent on helping Trump's re-election, convicting Trump in the Senate has become a real possibility.

Let me say that again. Impeaching, convicting, and removing Trump from office is within reach. Truly. Finally.

And that's why I feverishly wrote you this email, Eddie. Because how Republicans in the Senate respond will depend on how much pressure they feel from their constituents. And that's where MoveOn comes in.

Folks at MoveOn have shown me their plan, and it's exactly what we need to build insurmountable pressure on Senate Republicans and keep it up for as long as it takes, all the way through the vote to convict Trump. But in order for MoveOn to execute this plan, every single one of us needs to go all-in, which is why I'm asking:

Will you join me and chip in $5 a month to MoveOn to help impeach, convict, and remove Donald Trump from office?

Yes, I'm all-in, and I'll become a monthly donor now.

No, I'm sorry, I can't chip in monthly.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that he "did not want to be used as a pawn in the U.S. re-election campaign," according to Taylor's stunning testimony.

Even before Taylor's testimony, support for Trump's impeachment was soaring among independents. The latest polling shows that a full 50 percent of Americans believe that Trump should be impeached and removed from office. The numbers keep ticking upward. And that's before the public impeachment hearings.

Republicans know that the walls are closing in on Trump. We're already starting to see cracks in the GOP dam. Several moderate and soon-to-be-retired House Republicans have opened the door to voting for Trump's impeachment; the #2 ranking Republican, Senator John Thune, has admitted that things look very bad for Trump; Senator Mitt Romney has continued to pull away from the party line; and other Republican senators like Joni Ernst and Susan Collins are literally running away from questions about Trump's criminality.

Now is the time to double-down, and, thankfully, MoveOn is poised to run on all cylinders.

MoveOn is hiring teams of organizers in four key states to work with local activists to turn the pressure way up on the senators who are most likely to break ranks with Trump. But organizers in just four states isn't enough, and these organizers will need considerable and consistent resources to really make a powerful initial splash—and then keep on working for months to come.

I am so impressed with MoveOn's work and continued leadership in the fight to impeach, convict, and remove Trump.

Will you help expand MoveOn's on-the-ground organizing in key states and keep this campaign running on all cylinders for as long as it takes by chipping in $5 a month?

Yes, I'll chip in monthly.

No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.

MoveOn first called for Trump's impeachment back in 2017, and I'll be honest with you, even though I agreed that Trump was a corrupt criminal, I didn't believe that impeachment would ever really happen.

But a lot has changed in the last couple of years. Frankly, a lot has changed in the last couple of days.

Not only does Trump's impeachment now seem inevitable, it becomes more likely by the day that he will actually be removed from office.

But we can't afford to drop the ball now. This isn't the time to sit back and relax. If ever there was a time to come together, push harder, yell louder, and demand much, much more from our elected representatives, it's now.

I'm all-in on impeachment, are you? If yes, will you join me and MoveOn, and chip in $5 a month?

Yes, I'll chip in monthly.

No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.

Thanks for all you do.

Google

Sign this petition demanding that Google fire Miles Taylor, a key advocate for Trump's racist Muslim Ban and family separation policy.

Dear MoveOn member,

Buzzfeed is reporting that Google hired Miles Taylor to be "head of national security policy." Before Google, he was a top political champion of Trump's racist Muslim Ban and a key player in the caging of children at the southern border.1

Taylor's former co-workers are facing massive blowback for their anti-immigrant careers and the shameful attempts to redeem themselves. Google is trying to pretend that everything is fine and going about business as usual, but with your help, we can make sure Miles Taylor's bigoted résumé doesn't go unnoticed.

Together, let's make it as easy as possible for the tech giant to fire Miles Taylor with one massive public outcry:

Sign this petition demanding that Google fire Miles Taylor, a key advocate for Trump's racist Muslim Ban and family separation policy.

Miles Taylor was chief of staff to Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen—the Cabinet official who oversaw the execution of the Muslim Ban, filled concentration camps with children, and separated countless families. More than that, he often acted as a spokesman for Trump's Muslim Ban, speaking on its behalf to outlets ranging from NPR to The New York Times.2

Back when the Muslim Ban was being put into place, Google appeared to take a clear stand against the racist ban. CEO Sundar Pichai tweeted, "Google is with you" to the people affected by the Muslim Ban,3 and Google co-founder Sergey Brin attended one of the airport protests that erupted that week.4

By giving a cushy lobbying gig to one of the Trump administration's go-to advocates of the Muslim Ban, Google has made it exceedingly clear that they are not with people affected by the Muslim Ban, or the tens of thousands who have taken action against it.

It's time to tell Google: Fire Miles Taylor and make it clear you don't hire people whose job it was to implement policies that brought immense fear and chaos to Muslim and immigrant communities.

Click here to add your name to this petition, and then pass it along to your friends.

Thanks!

Dear MoveOn member,

We know that there are tens of thousands of MoveOn members for whom the questions of gun violence, gun ownership, and gun control are deeply personal. For some, it's because gun violence has impacted their life or that of someone close to them, and for others, it's because gun ownership is a part of their life or their community. We want to learn more about MoveOn members' experiences and thoughts about guns.

Matt Gaetz and Steve Scalise are out of control (petition)

Tell congressional leadership to revoke the security clearances of members who stormed a secure meeting earlier this week.

Dear fellow MoveOn Member,

On Wednesday, the House Intelligence Committee was holding secure impeachment depositions when more than two dozen Republican congressmen stormed into the secure facility. The representatives, led by Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), refused to leave until Democrats held open hearings—even though there were Republicans on the committee already in attendance.1

The members of Congress who stormed the Sensitive Compartmental Information Facility (SCIF) where secure impeachment hearings were in progress should be immediately investigated and have their security privileges revoked for intentionally disrupting a deposition and breaking security protocols in order to push their partisan agenda.

The rogue members of Congress who stormed the SCIF are trying to impede the impeachment inquiry—and they risked national security in doing so by bringing in their unapproved electronic devices. They used their cell phones inside the facility, opening up the secure room to malware and other infiltration.

The hypocrisy of a group of men who wanted to imprison Hillary for using a private email server now compromising national security to defend a lawless president is insufferable. It's time for decent people to take a stand against such shameless disregard for the legal process and take our country back from far-right radicals holding our democracy hostage. These lawmakers must be held accountable for breaking House rules and violating national security protocol. Nobody is above the law!

Thanks!

Davos for Dictators (petition)

Tell Jared Kushner and Trump officials not to attend Saudi Arabia's annual "Future Investment Initiative" conference as Saudi Arabia's dictator and crown prince tries to wash away his brutal human rights violations.

Dear fellow MoveOn member,

I'm Carmella Saia, and I started a petition because Jared Kushner, Rick Perry, Steve Mnuchin, and many other Trump officials are joining corporate leaders at a dictator propaganda event (which many human rights advocates refer to as "Davos for Dictators"). This event is organized by Saudi Arabia which, among other crimes and abuses, murdered journalist Jamal Khashoggi and has perpetrated the humanitarian crisis in Yemen, killing thousands. The event begins on October 29, so our immediate action is needed to pressure them to cancel.1

Jared Kushner, Trump officials, and global CEOs must cancel their plans to attend this dictator propaganda event.

Last year, many business and political leaders skipped Saudi Arabia's annual "Future Investment Initiative" conference after the Saudi dictatorship murdered dissident and journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

This year, many business and political leaders are returning to the Future Investment Initiative Conference, a Saudi propaganda event.

Businesses attending include Bloomberg, McKinsey, PwC, Mastercard, BCG, KPMG, Blackstone, JP Morgan, HSBC, GE, BlackRock, Dow, Atari, Bain & Company, Lazard, and Colony Capital.2

These attendees are turning a blind-eye to Khashoggi's murder. They are also ignoring Saudi Arabia's bombing of civilians in Yemen and imprisonment of women's rights activists and other government critics.

Scholar Luciano Zaccara has labeled the conference "a big public relations operation," as Saudi Arabia's dictator and crown prince tries to wash away his brutal human rights violations.3

The commitment to the conference and the monarchy itself by economic and political officials—especially from the Trump administration—displays the immoral lengths politicians and companies will go for monetary gain and how accepting they are of the crown prince's reprehensible actions.

Sign the petition now to let conference attendees know that we do NOT stand with Saudi Arabia's cruel dictatorship and neither should they!

Click here to add your name to this petition, and then pass it along to your friends.

Thank you.

I've seen what petitions can do

MoveOn members start and sign petitions every day. Learn more about how these people-powered petitions make an impact and and how to start your own campaign.

Dear Eddie,

My name is Sunjeev Bery, and I love starting petitions.

It's true! As a former MoveOn staff member, I have been behind the scenes to see the power your signatures have in helping build communities, hold people in power accountable, and win campaigns on a range of issues.

But, Eddie, I now run Freedom Forward, an organization dedicated to ending U.S. alliances with dictators, kings, and apartheid governments, and I'm even more impressed with the MoveOn petition platform and resources provided to grassroots activists like us!

In the few months since I started using MoveOn's free petition platform, tens of thousands of people have signed my petitions calling out human rights abusers around the world. We've built an amazing community of MoveOn members and made international headlines since a coalition we are part of pressured the New York Public Library to cancel an event organized by Saudi Arabia's brutal crown prince, Mohammad Bin Salman this fall.

Mobilizing thousands of supporters was amazing, Eddie. And MoveOn members like you didn't stop there. Every time I sent updates about what else petition signers could do, I was encouraged to see positive feedback from people making phone calls, posting on social media, and showing up to events.

I know that MoveOn has limited resources, just as all organizations do, and that's what makes me so excited to talk about the petition platform. This is giving power directly to the people without needing to wait for MoveOn to take the initiative to figure out what's happening in your own community.

Thank you for listening to my story, and good luck with your petition!

 Thanks for all you do.

I need your help, Eddie

Over the past 20 years, we have seen a dramatic, insidious constriction of the right to vote.

Dear MoveOn member,

My name is Stacey Abrams. I'm writing to you to talk about one of the most critical issues facing our democracy today and to share my plan to fight back.

In 2018, I became the first Black woman in U.S. history to become a nominee for governor for a major party. I spent months traveling Georgia, meeting voters, hearing and learning from their experiences, and galvanizing communities around a progressive vision for our state. But, at the same time, my campaign had to fight a coordinated, blatant voter suppression campaign run by my Republican opponent, Brian Kemp, who was also Georgia's secretary of state and in charge of our election.

It was like running against a cartoon villain. During the race, he purged 1.4 million voters from the rolls, allowed 214 precincts to close under his watch, and held up the registrations of 53,000 voters, 80% of whom were people of color.

After that race, I was determined to make sure that what happened in my election wouldn't happen across the country and, most urgently, that the 2020 elections would not be decided by partisan, undemocratic power grabs.

That's why I launched Fair Fight 2020 to hire voter protection teams in 20 battleground states that will work with state Democratic parties and allies to ensure that every eligible voter can register, access a ballot, and cast a vote that will be accurately counted.

We need to hire these teams on the ground now so they can start building the infrastructure needed to protect the vote in 2020, and keep them there until every vote is counted.

Eddie, MoveOn members like you were with me from the beginning of my campaign, and I need you with me again now. Will you chip in $5 a month, split between Fair Fight 2020 and MoveOn's work to defeat Donald Trump and end Republican control of the Senate?

Yes, I'll chip in monthly.

No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.

Let's be clear: Georgia may have been the epicenter of voter suppression in 2018, but Republicans are using the same playbook all across the country.

Over the past 20 years, we have seen a dramatic, insidious constriction of the right to vote. It's no longer the use of fire hoses and literacy tests to keep out voters. Now, it is widespread, complex suppression that hides behind the idea that it is "race-neutral," when we know that voter suppression disproportionately impacts marginalized communities.

And since 2013, when the Supreme Court gutted the Voting Rights Act, bad actors have been given carte blanche to undermine the most foundational principle of our democracy and keep more and more people out of the voting booth.

Voter suppression not only erodes every aspect of our democracy, it also crushes voters' sense of hope and reinforces the idea that one's vote doesn't matter.

I refuse to let the idea that one's vote doesn't matter take hold of our nation.

And that is where Fair Fight 2020 comes in. We are funding, training, and supporting voter protection teams on the ground in 20 states to safeguard our nation's sacred right to vote. We are also setting up hotlines in each of our target states so that anyone who witnesses any act of voter suppression can immediately report it and voter protection teams can take action.

We can't allow elections to be unfair, and we can't expect someone else to do this work for us.

I need your help to get this done, and MoveOn needs your help to build the largest election program in their 21-year history. Will you chip in $5 a month?

Yes, I'll chip in monthly to power Fair Fight 2020 and MoveOn's work to defeat Donald Trump and end Republican control of the Senate.

No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.

Last week, we lost one of the great fighters for justice, Representative Elijah Cummings, and I was reminded of an impassioned speech he gave in Congress earlier this year. He said:

"I don't give a damn how you look at it, there are efforts to stop people from voting. That's not right! This is not Russia, this is the United States of America! And I will fight until the death to make sure that every citizen—whether they are Green Party, whether they are Freedom Party, whether they are Democrat, whether they are Republican, whoever—has that right to vote, because it is the essence of our democracy."

It is on each and every one of us to heed Rep. Cummings' words and take up this fight.

Our voices have to be heard for our democracy to work. Will you join me and chip in $5 a month to Fair Fight 2020 and MoveOn now?

Yes, I'll chip in monthly.

No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.

Thanks for all you do.

–Stacey Abrams

Tell Congress: Get U.S. Nukes Out of Turkey

Add your name to show your support.

Dear MoveOn Member,

I'm Global Zero of No Red Button and I started a petition to The United States House of Representatives; and The United States Senate, which says:

The United States keeps nearly 50 nuclear bombs at an airbase in Turkey — less than 100 miles from the Syrian border where Turkish forces are massacring America's allies. As U.S.-Turkish relations rapidly worsen, it's clear we need to get these nukes out of Turkey before we lose control of them completely.

These nuclear weapons were put in Turkey (and four other NATO countries) at the height of the Cold War — and even though the Soviet Union collapsed almost 30 years ago, political inertia has kept them there. These weapons are difficult to secure even in the best of times, but today's volatile situation means they're a lit match in a powder keg.

For years, political leaders, military commanders and national security experts have called for the removal of these weapons — arguing that keeping U.S. nuclear weapons abroad is a dangerous liability. What's happening right now in Turkey is exactly what they hoped to avoid.

With the media focusing on this dangerous situation, the political scales are starting to tip in favor of a rapid withdrawal of U.S. nukes from Turkey. Now is the time for members of Congress to hear directly from you that this is an urgent priority.

Tell Congress to get U.S. nukes out of Turkey before the situation goes nuclear!

Tell presidential candidates: Restore net neutrality!

A federal court just upheld most of the FCC's 2017 decision to overturn net neutrality.

Dear MoveOn member,

A federal court just upheld most of the FCC's 2017 decision to overturn net neutrality.1 Combined with Mitch McConnell's obstruction of the Save the Internet Act in the Senate, it's becoming clear that who ever is elected to the White House in 2020 will have to be the one to restore net neutrality by appointing a new FCC that will protect a free and open internet.

But so far, net neutrality hasn't been broached in the debates. That's why we are asking all of the 2020 presidential candidates to pledge to restore the Title II net neutrality rules.

Sign this petition demanding that all 2020 presidential candidates sign on to protecting net neutrality.

Candidates, we ask you to publicly call for the restoration of strong open internet protections; reject contributions from phone and cable company executives, lobbyists, and PACs; and pledge to appoint FCC Commissioners who will:

  • Restore all of the Title II-based net neutrality rules, enforcement authority, broadband competition and consumer protections the FCC eliminated in 2017
  • Enforce a ban on circumventing net neutrality at the point where data enters ISPs' networks
  • Ban harmful forms of 'zero-rating' that advantage some apps over others or require apps to pay fees

Demand Progress has been helping to lead the effort to get candidates to raise this crucial issue in public debate and commit to restoring net neutrality, including by rejecting campaign contributions from Big Cable. Will you help build the movement?

Click here to add your name to this petition, and then pass it along to your friends.

Thanks!

My election (and what I'm up to now)

If we're going to make progress on any of the issues we care about, the most important thing we can do is ensure that all voters are able to register and vote—and that each of our votes are accurately counted.

Dear MoveOn member,

Do you care about climate change, economic justice, voting rights, and reforming our broken criminal justice system?

If we're going to make progress on any of the issues we care about, the most important thing we can do is ensure that all voters are able to register and vote—and that each of our votes are accurately counted.

But in America today, far too many people are denied the right to cast ballots and make their voices heard.

That's why after my Republican opponent Brian Kemp oversaw his own election and suppressed the votes of Georgians through malfeasance and incompetence, I launched the organization Fair Fight. Our mission is to fight voter suppression through legislation, organizing, and advocacy.

And now we are launching the Fair Fight 2020 initiative, a comprehensive plan to hire voter protection teams in 18 battleground states that will work with state Democratic parties and allies to ensure that every eligible voter can register, access a ballot, and cast a vote that will be counted.

We need to get these teams on the ground now so they can start building the infrastructure needed to protect the vote in 2020. At the same time, MoveOn is preparing for the biggest election effort in its 21-year history. And to do it all, we need your help.

Will you chip in $5 a month, split between Fair Fight 2020's voter protection efforts and MoveOn's critical work to defeat Donald Trump and end GOP control of the Senate?

Yes, I'll chip in monthly.

No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.

This fight is personal for me, Eddie. The architect of voter suppression, my opponent Brian Kemp, took office after silencing the voices of Georgians. While overseeing his own election as the secretary of state, he purged 1.5 million voters from the rolls, allowed 214 precincts to close under his watch, and held up the registrations of 53,000 voters—80% of whom were people of color. In the end, following extensive voter suppression, the race was decided by fewer than 55,000 votes.

While my election was an extreme example, voter suppression is nothing new. At our nation's founding, only white male property owners could vote. Later, Jim Crow poll taxes and violence denied Black Americans the right to vote. Now, voter suppression is more insidious, with superficially neutral rules enacted to disproportionately disenfranchise voters of color and low-income voters, including modern-day poll taxes, like the ones recently instituted in Florida, which make newly enfranchised voters pay court fines before they can vote.

When I ran for office, I knew what I would be up against. And I knew that the fight would not be fair. But, joined by Georgians of all backgrounds, we waged a historic fight and won more voters than any Democratic candidate in Georgia history. I am proud to be the first Black woman in U.S. history to become a nominee for governor for a major party. And I know that if we work hard, invest in new voters, and protect the vote in 2020, we will win.

What we need to do now is roll up our sleeves and fight to lift every voice and protect every vote, creating an America where the true winner, as decided by voters, wins in a fair fight—and in doing that, we can restore faith and trust in our democracy and our institutions, one election at a time.

That is why I launched Fair Fight. I am fighting for the integrity of the 2020 elections, while MoveOn fights to defeat Donald Trump and end GOP control of the Senate. And we need you now. Will you split a monthly donation of $5 between our organizations to help power our work?

Yes, I'll chip in monthly.

No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.

When politicians win office through voter suppression, democracy loses. And that poisons people's hope. It tells voters that our voices don't matter. It tells the worker who takes off half a day to stand in the rain and cast her ballot at an understaffed, far-away polling place that her voice doesn't matter. It tells the new citizen who's proud to become an American but who's stopped from registering to vote that he's not welcome in America. And it tells the voter purged from voter rolls that their voice is unwelcome in our democracy.

But in spite of all of the challenges that we face, I remain optimistic and hopeful.

I am optimistic because I know that here in Georgia, as well as in all 18 states that Fair Fight is targeting in 2020 and all across America, people will keep going door to door, fighting to register every eligible voter and count every vote.

I am optimistic because I believe in the work that MoveOn is doing to kick Trump out of office, stop Mitch McConnell and end Republican control of the Senate, finally pass voter protections at the federal level, and renew and restore the Voting Rights Act, which the Supreme Court gutted in 2013.

I'm optimistic because I'm in that fight, and MoveOn is in that fight. Will you join us and chip in $5 a month?

Yes, I'll become a monthly donor to Fair Fight 2020 and MoveOn to fight for fair elections and work to defeat Donald Trump and end Republican control of the Senate in 2020.

No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.

Thanks for all you do.

–Stacey Abrams

Sign this petition re: Google & climate deniers

Sign this petition demanding that Google stop funding organizations that deny climate change.

Dear fellow MoveOn member,

My name is Lilyana Lopez, and I am a college student in Milwaukee who cares about climate change and protecting our environment. I am writing to you today because what Google is doing is unacceptable.

Google has released a list of the organizations it sponsors, including groups that consistently deny climate change. Google claims to be an advocate for climate change policy. But Google has made what they refer to as "substantial" donations (without disclosing the amounts) to think tanks like the Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI) that were instrumental in pushing the U.S. to withdraw from the Paris climate agreement and reverse Obama-era environmental protections. In addition, Google has contributed to organizations like the State Policy Network, an umbrella organization including the Heartland Institute, a known anti-science group.1

This is absolutely unacceptable.

Google MUST stop funding climate change deniers and do its part in working to protect the environment.

Sign this petition demanding that Google stop funding organizations that deny climate change.

Google employees upset by Google's behavior have even criticized Google for reportedly funding 111 members of Congress who voted against climate legislation 90% of the time.2 If Google is so supportive of climate change policy, then why are they funding those who vote against the climate action that we need?

Join me in demanding that Google stop funding these climate confusers and start funding climate action.

Click here to add your name to this petition, and then pass it along to your friends.

Thanks!

Stunning impeachment poll

After the White House whistleblower's stunning revelations and continued bombshells from inside the White House—including chief of staff Mick Mulvaney's public admission of Trump's quid pro quo with Ukraine—public opinion has flipped.

Dear MoveOn member,

In August of 2018, only about 4 in 10 Americans supported impeaching Donald Trump.1

Even after special counsel Robert Mueller delivered his report to Congress, most Americans still didn't support impeachment.

But now, finally, after the White House whistleblower's stunning revelations and continued bombshells from inside the White House—including chief of staff Mick Mulvaney's public admission of Trump's quid pro quo with Ukraine—public opinion has flipped.2

A majority of Americans now support impeachment AND Trump's removal, and that changes everything.3

So now MoveOn is announcing a big decision: We're deploying a team of paid, professional organizers in the states of key Republican senators to mobilize grassroots support for impeachment, conviction, and removal. That means not just hiring staff but also providing the tools, resources, signage, and more for the organizers to do their jobs, so that we can maximize the impact of MoveOn members and allies in those states. It means a full campaign infrastructure, and we're counting on your help to make it possible.

Right now, we have the budget to hire organizers in only three states. That's not enough. We need to hire organizers in additional states, and keep them on the ground for the duration of this fight. Which is why we're asking:

Can you chip in $5 a month to help us expand our budget, hire talented grassroots organizers in critical states, and keep this crucial program going for the duration of the impeachment inquiry?

Yes, I'll chip in monthly to support MoveOn's no-holds-barred ground game for Donald Trump's impeachment.

No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.

With public opinion shifting, impeachment could really happen now.

In fact, one Republican senator told a reporter that "if it was a secret vote, 30 Republican senators would vote to impeach Trump."4 And as soon as one Republican senator makes a public announcement that they will vote to convict him, the dam will break open. And that will be only a matter of time, since prominent Republicans are starting to speak out, including former presidential candidate John Kasich, who just told CNN that Trump's "across the Rubicon" and should be impeached.5

We're going big with an in-depth organizing campaign—and we've got a proven model that we know works.

In 2017 and 2018, we went big to train MoveOn members to become community organizers and volunteer leaders, empowering them to host events, knock on doors, and talk to their communities. And it paid off—big time.

At the same time, MoveOn launched the Nobody is Above the Law network with our partners in order to mobilize hundreds of thousands of people within hours of important news breaking during the Mueller investigation. The strategy worked, with MoveOn members and our allies showing up in huge numbers at key moments.

That laid the groundwork for the critical work we are now doing to impeach Trump and remove him from office once and for all. We've identified the handful of Republican senators who we might be able to pressure to break from Trump.

The organizers we hire in these states will work with local groups to plan events in front of Senate district offices, follow senators when they are in town to put them on the spot, generate local media coverage (the kind that senators pay close attention to), and make sure these senators know that no matter what the Trump echo chamber says, their constituents want them to vote to remove him from office.

We're on the verge of ending this disaster of a presidency. And now, we need your help in order to green-light this budget, start hiring, and ensure we can keep these organizers on our payroll for as long as it takes to win. Will you chip in $5 a month and help us finish the job?

Yes, I'll chip in monthly to support MoveOn's no-holds-barred ground game for Donald Trump's impeachment.

No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.

Thanks for all you do.

–Vicki, Justin, Kelly, Seth, and the rest of the team

P.S. Even as the Republican dam is starting to break on impeachment, Trump continues to violate the Constitution on a daily basis. Most recently, he tried to host the G-7 summit (a meeting of the seven biggest economies in the world) at his Doral, Florida resort, which would have benefitted him financially—but was forced to reverse course after bipartisan criticism.6 If we do not impeach Trump, all future presidents would presume that they are above the law and that the Constitution doesn't apply to them. Republicans are starting to realize this terrifying fact, and now's the time for us to go all-in to end Trump's lawless presidency.
