I walked until my feet were soaked

This past week has made clear: On Election Day, we'll be voting for the soul of America.

Dear Eddie,

This past week has made it clear: On Election Day, we'll be voting for the soul of America.

Sign up now to get out the vote and stand together against Donald Trump's hate and the Republicans' relentless attacks on our communities and our democracy.

Six days from now, we can defeat the brutal white supremacist forces of anti-Semitism, anti-immigrant nativism, and racism. We can hold accountable the cold-hearted monsters who have repeatedly attacked our health care. We can send a message to the bigots and billionaires that this country belongs to all of us. We can win if we show up on November 6. We must end Republican control of Congress and begin to reclaim our nation.

A Democratic majority will not bring back the eleven Jewish people in Pittsburgh, massacred while they prayed. Or the two Black people gunned down days before at a Kroger grocery store in Kentucky. It won't fully stop the relentless attacks against immigrants in America.

But on Sunday evening, Pittsburgh mourners—angry and broken-hearted like us—chanted "Vote! Vote! Vote!" They understand the magnitude of the midterm election six days from today: that it affords us the chance to forge a powerful bulwark against Donald Trump's hate and hold accountable the Republicans who have been complicit in every step of his toxic, self-serving, and destructive agenda. We must offer a path out of the darkness.

There are essential actions MoveOn members can take to ensure that every single voter gets to the polls on Election Day. Don't miss out. Click here to sign up to talk to voters in Queens on Saturday.

Can't make it on Saturday? Click here to find a different opportunity to take action near you.

The power of this grassroots organizing isn't abstract to me; it is the foundation of our movement. From the first day of our campaign, I walked and walked and walked. I walked until I wore holes through my shoes and my feet were soaked. Hundreds of people from my community joined me, and together we knocked on over 120,000 doors.

And then something extraordinary happened: We won. Campaigns like ours aren't supposed to win. But we did. And we can win again on Tuesday. Across the nation, progressives are on the verge of doing the impossible. And it's because of waves of unprecedented and targeted grassroots action like the hundreds of actions led by MoveOn members in every corner of our country.

Action that's not anchored by the chains of Big Money and hate. People-powered action that will not yield. A politics that fights for Medicare for All, a Green New Deal, and a path to prosperity for every community left behind by our democracy. A politics that cannot yield until we rebuild our crumbling communities and shape our country again in the image of justice.

Be part of the hope of our time. With just six days until Election Day, sign up now to end Republican control of Congress and help usher in a new day.

This is our chance to take action in solidarity with everyone whose lives are threatened by the hate-filled policies of Trump and the GOP.

Our chance to push back against white supremacist forces across our nation, against the xenophobes who are militarizing the border, against the bigots who seek to erase our transgender families, against the apologists for sexual assault and the Islamophobes who sow hate to divide us.

This is our chance to vote for lawmakers who will put people before profits. Who believe health care is a human right. Who will fight for economic, social, and racial justice for all.

Who will choose love over hate.

Who will choose unity over divisiveness. Who will choose justice and vision over oppression.

I believe with all my heart that when everyday people like us come together and act together for what's right, nothing can stop the progressive movement in the U.S.

Nothing can stop us IF we join together right now, sign up right now, and help drive forward with all our might to Election Day in waves of unbeatable action.

Join an event in Queens on Saturday to talk to voters and get out the vote!

Can't join the Wave? Find other ways to get involved near you.

Re: Lin-Manuel's message

Lin-Manuel Miranda here. I'm writing you today with hope and determination. In the past year, alongside so much darkness and damage done to our country by some of those in power, I've also seen so much light.

Hi there—It looks like you recently started a donation in response to Lin-Manuel Miranda's message, but didn't complete it. Can you still help out?

G'morning, MoveOn members!

Lin-Manuel Miranda here.

I'm writing you today with hope and determination.

In the past year, alongside so much darkness and damage done to our country by some of those in power, I've also seen so much light.

Millions of us demanded an end to immigrant families' separation and detention. Young people have risen up to fight against gun violence. Women have shown overwhelming courage in speaking their truths.

And people around the world have rallied to Puerto Rico's side in the long aftermath of Hurricane Maria. MoveOn members alone donated a record $3 million for direct relief efforts.

After every fresh horror, there's been more of us. Singing out. Showing up for each other. Marching together.

Now we have one chance to use this year's midterm election to hold accountable those in power—especially in Congress—who have done such unspeakable harm.

When we tell our children the story of this moment, what will we be able to say? Can we say, "I did all I could to turn us toward love, toward justice, toward dignity?"

Let's have no regrets. Please join me by chipping in $3 to support MoveOn's beautiful, people-powered election campaign to hold accountable those who've enabled so much harm—and build the nation we need.

Let's not just dream of a better tomorrow.

Let's wake up to what we love.

Wake up to what could happen if we all love harder.

Wake up every day to what needs doing.

Wake up the day after Election Day with no regrets.

Chip in $3 now to support MoveOn's election work.

Pa'lante! See you on the other side.

Siempre,

–Lin-Manuel

We are at a tipping-point moment

We are at a tipping-point moment in American history, and what we do over the next six days and on Election Day will have implications for generations to come.

Dear MoveOn member,

We are at a tipping-point moment in American history, and what we do over the next six days and on Election Day will have implications for generations to come.

That is why I am writing to you today. If you are concerned about the Trump GOP's disastrous policies and the reactionary, right-wing, one-party rule that we currently have in Congress, then please click here right now to support MoveOn's critical work to win the election in November.

Eddie, we have got to ensure the largest voter turnout of any midterm election in the recent history of this country.

In the last midterm election, four years ago, the United States had its lowest voter turnout since World War II. Only 36% of eligible voters cast a ballot.1

And that low turnout is part of how we ended up with this extreme right-wing Congress, and why Mitch McConnell is in charge of the Senate. And if we want to get out of this mess, the ONLY way to do it is to increase voter turnout this time around. We need to get out the vote in support of bold, diverse candidates who will end the rigged economic and political systems we have now and build a country that works for all of us.

If there is high voter turnout this November, then we are very likely to have a decisive victory. But if there is low turnout, we will very likely lose, with catastrophic consequences.

And you do not have to take my word for it, because McConnell has made it absolutely clear: If Republicans maintain control of the House and Senate, they will again try to take health care away from millions of Americans and cut Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security.

I wouldn't ask you to donate if getting voters to turn out on Election Day weren't so critically important. But the fact is, MoveOn is in the final sprint of the biggest and most expensive elections program in its 20-year history—a program that is geared specifically toward increasing voter turnout by inspiring voters to show up. And I believe that is exactly what is needed in this important moment.

With your help, MoveOn will be able to reach out to millions of voters through volunteer-led efforts: sending millions of person-to-person text messages, one voter at a time; sharing personal, genuine videos from one community member to another; and doing old-fashioned door-to-door outreach with neighbors having conversations with each other.

By working together, on Election Day, we can end Republican control of the House and maybe even the Senate. Will you help MoveOn's voter turnout program by donating $3 or whatever you can afford?

Yes, Bernie! I'll chip in and help MoveOn ensure sure 2018 has a large voter turnout, because that's what's needed to finally end Republican control of Congress.

Last year, I asked MoveOn members to help me go on the road to defeat the Republican "health care" bill—a bill that would have thrown as many as 32 million Americans off their health insurance. MoveOn members stepped up in a huge way. And together, despite all the odds, and with Republicans in charge of Congress and the White House, we won. That is an incredible accomplishment.

Why did we win? Because the majority of Americans believe that health care should be recognized as a right for every man, woman, and child. Polls show that 70% of us support a single-payer, Medicare-for-All system—and that number includes a majority of voters who identify as Republicans.2

So if Americans believe in this vision, then you might reasonably ask yourself: Why do American voters keep voting against the right to health care? It's a fair question. And here's the answer: They're not.

The majority of Americans are not voting for the Trump-GOP agenda—the problem is that Americans are not voting at all, particularly in midterm elections like the one coming up in just six days.

Why aren't they? There is not just one reason. It is a combination of things, ranging from racist voter suppression laws disenfranchising voters to the influence of Big Money to keep voters at home rather than participating in our democracy to the fact that many Americans have lost faith in our broken system and need an extra reminder of the issues that are at stake.

On issue after issue—whether it is health care for all, raising the minimum wage, pay equity for women, rebuilding our crumbling infrastructure, making public colleges and universities tuition-free, transforming our energy system, immigration reform, criminal justice reform, and many other issues—poll after poll shows the American people are not with the GOP.

Americans want public policies that will address the needs of all the American people, not just the ultra-wealthy 1% that the GOP caters to.

Those are the issues we're putting front and center in this election. And that's what we'll work on when we win. But to win, we need to get voters to the polls on November 6.

MoveOn is running an absolutely essential get-out-the-vote program this year—the biggest midterm program in its 20-year history. I am asking you to make a contribution now to support MoveOn's critical work. Will you chip in $3?

Yes, Bernie! I'm in.

I still believe that we can level the playing field.

I still believe in a positive and hopeful vision for America, where together we will build a society where every man, woman, and child can thrive.

That's why I recently headed to Indiana, Michigan, South Carolina, Iowa, Wisconsin, Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, California, Maryland and Florida to talk about the critical issues that are at stake and the exciting candidates running for House, Senate, Governor and races up and down the ballot that can help make our vision a reality.

I hope that you will volunteer in the final stretch leading up to Election Day. I also hope that when you vote on November 6, you will bring your friends, co-workers, and family with you.

And I hope that you will join me in making a contribution to MoveOn's critical elections program aimed to get out the vote, because getting voters to turn out on Election Day will end the GOP's control of Congress.

Please click here to chip in to MoveOn. A contribution of $3, or whatever you can afford, will go a long way.

In solidarity,

–Bernie Sanders

I'm asking from the heart

For two long, painful years—with control of both houses of Congress and the White House—Republicans have voted over and over again against the best interests of all Americans.

Dear MoveOn member,

For two long, painful years—with control of both houses of Congress and the White House—Republicans have voted over and over again against the best interests of all Americans.

They have done everything they can to accommodate the ambitions of Donald Trump and to make sure that the pockets of their billionaire donors are lined with cash. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell even recently suggested cutting Social Security and Medicare to curb the mounting deficit brought on by their $1.5 trillion tax scam.1

Eddie, there's only one way to make sure that McConnell never has a chance to follow through on his dishonest and dangerous plan: We've got to end GOP control of Congress.

To help do just that, MoveOn is running its biggest midterm elections program EVER. I believe in MoveOn members. You have been with me on some of the most important fights of our generation these past two years. I fought with you in a historic Supreme Court fight earlier this month and stood with you just a week ago talking about the stakes of this election in Wisconsin. And I believe that if we join together and focus for these next eight days, we can make history.

With your help, MoveOn can reach out to tens of millions of potential voters in the coming days and make sure they get out to vote.

We have only eight days left. That's why I've locked arms with MoveOn members like you for this bring-it-on-home push, and that's why I'm asking you, from the heart:

Will you chip in just $3 right now so that MoveOn has the resources it needs to do its important work around the clock—from now until Election Day?

I know a bit about campaigns, and I know the financial resources required to get them right. This close to Election Day, every single donation matters: It can mean one more door knocked on, one more phone call made, one more ad purchased, and one more voter persuaded. And with so many of the critical races we must win in order to end GOP control of Congress on a knife's edge, each and every voter in each and every district matters.

And here's what I know to be true about MoveOn: It stretches each donated dollar as far as humanly possible.

Because the strength of MoveOn lies in its millions of members, the donation that you make right now will be magnified by fierce volunteer organizing in every single critical state and district in our nation.

Just last week, I met some incredible MoveOn volunteers in Wisconsin and was reminded once again just how critical MoveOn's work has been and will be in this election and the ones to come.

So I'm asking, Eddie: Will you help bring on home the win that we all need on Election Day by chipping in just $3 right now?

Yes! I'm in with you.

I believe that anything worth fighting for is a fight worth having.

Our health care is worth fighting for.

Immigrant rights are worth fighting for.

Keeping the air we breathe clean is worth fighting for.

Our children's education is worth fighting for.

Good jobs are worth fighting for.

Ending racism, sexism, antisemitism, and LGBTQ discrimination is worth fighting for.

Social Security and Medicare are worth fighting for.

The core values of our nation are worth fighting for. This is what's actually at stake in this election.

And that's why I'm so grateful to MoveOn members for once again stepping up to lead a transformational fight, taking to the streets and the phones and social media and primetime news with unmatched force and skill.

This pivotal midterm election is a fight for the best of who we are as a nation—and a fight for the very best of what we can become.

It's a chance for us to ask ourselves what we believe in and what we're willing to fight for.

And it's the moment for us to speak truth to power—through our own vote and by helping MoveOn mobilize every critical voter necessary to win on Election Day, end Republican dominance in Washington, and take our nation forward.

Please chip in $3 now to make this all possible.

I'm with you all the way, and I thank you for being on the front lines of this fight.

–Senator Kamala Harris

Add your name to the demands from Pittsburgh Jewish leaders to Trump

Sign the petition. It is time to rise up together to demand our safety. We refuse to be divided. We refuse to be isolated from each other. We will outlive their hatred.

Dear MoveOn member,

The massacre of 11 Jews in a Pittsburgh synagogue comes at a time when the Trump administration, the Republican Party, and their enablers—at all levels—have fomented hate, fear, and white nationalism in our country. The violence against Jews in Pittsburgh is the direct culmination of their influence.

Donald Trump is planning to visit our community on Tuesday because he loves being a spectacle—but he refuses to take responsibility for dangerous and divisive policies Republicans put in place at his insistence. This petition is one way to rise up together to demand our safety. We refuse to be divided. We refuse to be isolated from each other. We will outlive their hatred.

We demand Donald Trump and the Republican Party fully denounce white nationalism, stop targeting and endangering all minorities, cease their assault on immigrants and refugees, and commit to compassionate, democratic policies that recognize the dignity of all of us.

They have targeted the Muslim community, immigrants and refugees, people of color, and LGBTQ people, and in recent weeks we have seen a marked escalation in their use of antisemitic images, rhetoric and conspiracy theories.

Donald Trump, your words, your policies, and your party have emboldened a growing white nationalist movement.

The Trump administration, the Republican Party, and their enablers have provoked violence against our communities. Our blood is on their hands.

Now, we're asking Jews and allies across the country to add their names to the demands of Jewish leaders in Pittsburgh who are rising up to demand the White House renounce white nationalism so we can all be safe.

Click here to add your name to this petition, and then pass it along to your friends.

Thank you.

This young man will lift us up

We're facing difficult times in America today. Hate on the rise. White supremacists marching openly in the streets. Bomb threats. And yesterday, gun violence in a place of worship. But I've known difficult times before.

Dear MoveOn member,

We're facing difficult times in America today. Hate on the rise. White supremacists marching openly in the streets. Bomb threats. And yesterday, gun violence in a place of worship.

But I've known difficult times before. I remember the "Whites Only" signs that hung above drinking fountains when I was a child. I remember when Black people risked their lives by trying to register to vote.

The civil rights movement lifted America from those particular policies of racist hate, but I am afraid that the hatred has never truly gone away.

Because right now, in Florida, Andrew Gillum, the progressive, trailblazing Tallahassee mayor who is in a close race to become Florida's first Black governor, is facing outrageous racist attacks during the final stretch of his campaign.

The people of Florida deserve the kind of governor that Andrew will be. He will lift up the people of Florida—and all of us in America—white, Black and brown. He is a powerful voice for Medicare for All, strong gun safety laws, LGBTQ equality, immigrant rights, and creating opportunities for all, not just a privileged few.1 Andrew is standing against the politics of hate to be a governor of all people.

I'm campaigning with Andrew all over Florida, and I'm asking you to help bring it home with a donation to Andrew's campaign. Are you with me?

Yes, Congressman Lewis, I'll donate $3 to help stand up to the politics of hate and elect Andrew Gillum governor of Florida.

I, along with countless others, sacrificed a lot for others to have the right to vote. I was jailed and beaten, even left bloody and unconscious. But what I suffered pales in comparison to our foremothers and forefathers who gave their lives.

Today, we cannot fail to exercise those rights that were paid for in blood and sacrifice.

Now, some people in America would like us to return to the days of rampant segregation and voter suppression. We're seeing Black people purged from the voter rolls and blocked from voting with racist voter ID laws and government officials complicit in acts of suppression. The Supreme Court has gutted key parts of the Voting Rights Act that we were marching for that day in Selma on the Edmund Pettus Bridge and throughout the entire civil rights movement.

One of the people who wants to take us back is Andrew Gillum's opponent for governor. He said Andrew would "monkey up" the state if he was elected.2 He accepted a donation from a man who called President Obama a "Muslim N-word."3 He is campaigning at neo-Nazi rallies, and his supporters are running racist and anti-Semitic robocalls.4,5

Andrew represents the polar opposite of all that hatred. He would be the first African-American elected governor of Florida, and he is running to represent all of the people of Florida and supporting policies that will help all Floridians thrive.

America is facing difficult times today, but we've faced harder times and come out stronger. We can do it again, and Andrew is the leader who will get us there. Will you help Andrew bring it home by making a donation to his campaign today?

Yes, I'll donate $3 to bring it home for Andrew Gillum.

Thanks for being in this fight.

–Congressman John Lewis of Georgia

What do you know about our State & Local program?

Dear MoveOn member,

With just a few days left until the election, why are we sending you an email about a quiz? Because we know many MoveOn members are following the ins and outs of the news cycle, the latest polls, and the races that could tip power in Washington, D.C.—but let's see how much you know about the over 100 inspirational, dynamic, and diverse state and local candidates MoveOn members all across the country have endorsed.

In addition to endorsing 100 candidates to end GOP control of the House, MoveOn members have voted to endorse a diverse set of candidates that represent the communities they come from and embody deeply progressive values. There are candidates running for governor, all the way down the ballot to county commissioner and mayor—where they can make local progress that could have national impact.

Take the MoveOn State and Local Midterm Quiz! And in doing so, get fired up to vote up and down the ballot in just 9 days!

Our endorsed state and local candidates are fighting for expanded access to health care, respect for immigrants, gun safety, better schools, clean water and air, and so much more. Here's a bit about a few of the incredible state and local candidates that we are proud to endorse:

Candidates such as Emily Randall (Washington - Senate District 26), who knows firsthand the worry of having to pay for health care for a loved one and the life-saving value of Medicare for All. Growing up with a younger sister who struggled to live every single day, Emily and her family are deeply aware of what good government can do, especially with Washington State's expansion of Medicaid. It was only because of this that Emily's family could provide the care her sister needed for the 19 years she was alive. Now, she's running to make sure that no family—regardless of their income or financial situation—should go bankrupt or lose their home because they have been in an accident or have medical needs.

Candidates such as Deidre DeJear (Iowa - Secretary of State), who is a voting rights advocate who finds people who believe that their vote doesn't matter and helps them gain their power and voice through their vote. As statewide Obama coordinator, she organized and turned out 5,000 unlikely voters and worked to double the Black voter turnout in Iowa. Her primary focus, if elected as secretary of state, will be to increase voter registration and block any attempts at restricting access to voting, which have unfortunately been prevalent under the Republican incumbent. Deidre is running because knows that we have to harness the idea of casting our ballot not only for ourselves, but for our communities.

Candidates such as Cara McClure (Alabama - Public Service Commission, Place 1), who turned personal hardship into opportunity when she started an apartment locating service to help individuals and families find their ideal homes. Throughout her lifetime, Cara has been a voice and advocate for the working poor, the homeless, and the forgotten and marginalized. Cara is running for Alabama's Public Service Commission, Place 1, a position that regulate the state's utility companies, because she knows it's not right that Alabama is the sixth-poorest state in the nation but has the second-highest utility costs. She's running to elevate the quality of life for everyone, because people shouldn't have to choose between paying for high-priced utilities, high-cost prescription medicines, or groceries.

We want you to support these diverse and progressive champions up and down the ballot come Election Day. Want to test your knowledge of our incredible State and Local program and see what you already know or can learn about future, game-changing leaders who are going to upend conventional wisdom and power progressive change all across the country?

Take the MoveOn State and Local Midterm Quiz! Then share it with friends to inspire everyone to get out and vote for game-changing candidates on November 6!

With our livelihood at stake under this administration, we are working every day to support state and local candidates who will protect communities under attack, fight for universal health care, and bring progressive ideas to their localities. We need candidates who will protect our right to vote, support and uplift communities of color, and advocate for equity for the most marginalized. Bring the blue wave to the state and local level by voting for MoveOn-endorsed candidates up and down the ballot.

Test your knowledge, and share the quiz on Facebook to spread the word. And hey, make a commitment to vote for these incredible progressive champions!

Thanks for all you do.

Sunday night's call: Bernie Sanders *and* Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

Join Sunday's Resist & Win National Organizing Call to hear how you can take action to end Republican control of Congress.

Dear MoveOn member,

Really?

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Senator Bernie Sanders will both join Sunday night's Resist & Win call?!

Now that's the World Series of national election calls.

And Ocasio-Cortez and Sanders are the perfect team to lead the "bring-it-home" charge for the midterm elections—on a call where tens of thousands of MoveOn members and allies will gather to learn what must be done in the final nine days to end GOP control of Congress and elect a dynamic slate of progressives at the federal, state, and local levels who will take on this rigged system, stand up to attacks on our communities, and push forward a transformative agenda.

Because you have registered for our Sunday night national organizing call series in the past, a few minutes before the training begins, you'll receive a call at the phone number you previously listed. No further action is required, though you can click here to register a different phone number, or come back to this link at the time of the call to listen via computer.

RSVP now.

There are just 10 days until polls close across the country. Ten days to do everything we can to win on November 6 and put a meaningful check on Donald Trump. Ten days to elect candidates ready to fight for Medicare for All, fight to keep families together, push back against the interests of Big Money, fight for criminal justice reform and to confront climate change and so much more.

On Sunday's call—MoveOn's 26th Resist & Win call in this Trump era—participants will get an inside look at campaigns across the nation, have a chance to sign up for critical get-out-the-vote events, join MoveOn's massive mobile texting team, hear from a Resist & Win volunteer leader who's helping power a key campaign, and so much more.

Check out Sunday's all-star lineup:

  • Sen. Bernie Sanders, from Vermont—who has a proven track record of fighting fiercely to protect our health care, get Big Money out of politics, and much more.
  • Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, from New York—a rising progressive champion who beat a 10-term New York Democratic incumbent in her congressional primary this year.
  • Resist & Win volunteer Leader Sarah Lowe, who's been on the ground in Cincinnati, OH, leading waves of game-changing actions for MoveOn-endorsed candidate Aftab Pureval.
  • And Resist & Win team members Chris Percy and Katie Werner, who will share updates about MoveOn's massive election program that we believe will end Republican control of Congress.

Click here if you need to register a different phone number, or come back to this link at the time of the call to listen via computer.

Here's the bottom line: Tens of thousands of MoveOn members have already hit the phones and doors for Democratic candidates. But in these final days, we need a surge of targeted people power to ensure Democrats prevail on Election Day.

A surge of action powerful enough to turn the House (and maybe even the Senate) blue and send a message across the nation that Americans outright reject the politics of fear, greed, and division—and instead embrace the politics of solidarity, opportunity, and common humanity.

Let's go win this new day. Together.

Hope you can join Sunday's call.

Thanks for all you do.

—Corinne, Scott, Ashley, Mark, and the rest of the team

P.S. If you can't join on Sunday, you can still take action in the final days leading up to the November 6 election to be part of the blue wave. See how to get involved here.

Text every Democrat

Here's an awful secret: Only 20% of the people who get this email will ever open it. (You're one of them, so, congratulations and thanks!)

Dear MoveOn member,

Here's an awful secret: Only 20% of the people who get this email will ever open it. (You're one of them, so congratulations and thanks!)

But if this were a text message, 90% of people would have read it within five minutes.1

This inspired the MoveOn Mobile Team to develop an entirely new approach to get out the vote. Our goal? Texting a reminder to vote to tens of millions of registered Democrats in the country in the next 10 days.

And not with just a generic text, but with a personalized message sent directly from a MoveOn volunteer, not a machine.

That's a lot of texts! Achieving this ambitious goal means paying for all the lists of registered Democrats, training thousands of MoveOn members on how to use cutting-edge peer-to-peer texting tools we've developed, making sure that this innovative tool can scale to this massive and ambitious level, and increasing our staff capacity to run trainings and crunch the data.

We still need to raise $75,000 to fully fund our voter-to-voter "Text Every Dem" program in the last 10 days before Election Day. Can you chip in $5?

Yes, I'll pitch in so we can text tens of millions of Democrats with a reminder to vote.

This is the first time that MoveOn has tried anything like this. We've never even had the lists of all the registered Democrats in the country, because they were too expensive. But a partnership with other progressive organizations helped us get access to the national voter file, and now we need to do everything we can. We can't bear another election night like 2016.

With the "Text Every Dem" program, MoveOn members will be able to personally reach voters who miss emails, use caller ID to avoid phone calls, and aren't home to answer a knock on the door when our massive volunteer-powered canvassing program comes knocking.

Already, 500,000 people have pledged to vote when reached via this text program. But we still have more than 20 million more texts to send! And so we need your help.

Will you chip in $5 and help us raise $75,000 to fully fund our voter-to-voter "Text Every Dem" program in the last 10 days? Click here if you can.

Text messages are the perfect way to reach record numbers of people, particularly young people, who overwhelmingly oppose Donald Trump, but rarely vote in midterm elections—and who use their mobile phones at a higher rate than the general population.2

And with a huge number of volunteers who have signed up and are ready to go, MoveOn has a huge, last-minute opportunity to send 20 million get-out-the-vote text messages in the final 10 days of this election—and not just any text messages, but individual, personalized text messages, with authentic, sincere, unscripted videos about why this election matters.

We're borrowing the videos for our person-to-person text messages from MoveOn's breakthrough "Real Voter Voices" program. MoveOn's been honing this program since 2017, tested it through five special and primary elections so far, and time after time, it's helped get out the vote.

The Real Voter Voices program is primarily run via online ads, but thanks to the huge influx of volunteers, we have a chance to expand it in the final days with peer-to-peer texting—and reach tens of millions of people!

And we know that these videos work incredibly well via online ads. According to independent analysts:

  • These videos added thousands of votes for Ralph Northam in Virginia.
  • They added thousands of votes in December's razor-tight special election in Alabama—making a huge difference in the final vote count between Doug Jones and Roy Moore.
  • And in the case of Conor Lamb, who won a narrow victory in a special election in the heart of Pennsylvania Trump country, these videos were one of the decisive factors!

In fact, when we pay to run these videos in ads, they are FIVE TIMES MORE COST-EFFECTIVE than other paid methods.

We know that text messages are read. Text messages have open rates 36 times greater than email and double the response rate of phone calls.3 So we know that our text program is tremendously powerful, but just last week, our system crashed—due to the amazing outpouring of volunteers! We've had to purchase last-minute server space and dedicate additional technical staff to keep this program running through November 6.

If "Text Every Dem" succeeds in 2018, we'll be ready to double down on the approach for 2020, when we'll be up against an even steeper mountain of right-wing campaign cash. But right now, in this crucial midterm election, our system is stretched to its limits.

Will you invest $5 to keep the MoveOn text message system running and make sure that our groundbreaking program can help get out the vote in 10 days and lay the groundwork for shattering engagement in the elections that come after?

Yes, I'll chip in to help reach tens of millions of Democrats with text messages encouraging them to vote out the GOP.

Thanks for all you do.

We must reclaim our nation (this is how)

I've been a MoveOn member for years but I rarely write you directly.

Dear Eddie,

I'm actress Jane Fonda and—while I've been a MoveOn member for years—I rarely write you directly.

But this is the most important midterm election of my lifetime. I'm showing up to get out the vote—hitting the road in Michigan to stand with restaurant employees and other hourly workers and talk to voters about One Fair Wage, our campaign to raise the minimum wage and eliminate the sub-minimum wage for tipped workers. I'm teaming up with MoveOn to reach millions of fellow MoveOn members who have the two superpowers necessary to turn our nation blue on November 6.

Here is the first: You have the ability to hit the streets and phones in support of Democratic candidates for office---and to drive their campaigns across the finish line to victory.

There's an action near you in Woodside on Saturday. With only 11 days until Election Day, can you click here to learn more and sign up now?

Can't show up in person? You can still find other ways to engage all around the country—at doors, from home, in person or online. Click here to download a groundbreaking app that tells you which of your friends live in key districts and helps you make sure they vote!

We have something in common this election cycle: I've also hit the ground to talk to voters. Personally, I'm talking to voters in Michigan to stand with restaurant workers and allies who know they deserve a fair wage. Taking on the rigged system to create an economy that works for all of us—young and old, Black, brown, and white—is our focus everywhere this election as we fight to end control of Congress by a party that sides with billionaires and corporations.

Please, join me by letting your first superpower rip between now and until the polls close on Election Day. We can win a transformational wave of elections if we give the next 11 days our all.

Just click this link to know more about a powerful action in Woodside on Saturday, and please do everything you can to sign up and take part.

It's been hard for me to breathe in Donald Trump's America, because every day, more of what we cherish comes under attack.

I find myself holding my breath—waiting for the next wretched swipe from Trump or the GOP—at our health care or wages or environmental protections or immigrant rights.

What helps is re-grounding in the very thing that happens to be MoveOn members' second superpower: hope.

MoveOn members never give up, and I think it's because you've hung on to hope and a vision for the future that we can help win together.

Please take two minutes to find out more about a potentially breakthrough action in Woodside on Saturday, and please do everything you can to sign up and take part.

And if you can't make it out, you can still take action. Chances are, you have friends and family in critical swing districts across the country: Click here to download Outvote, an app you can use to help mobilize your network to get out and vote.

The ability to help drive the most effective organizing possible combined with unwavering hope and commitment.

Those are the superpowers we need to win on Election Day.

Thanks for putting them to work from now until November 6 by signing up right now—for all of us and the nation we must reclaim.

And thanks for all you do.

—Jane Fonda

Kiss the blue wave goodbye?

A recent Gallup poll found that just 26% of 18- to 29-year-olds are certain to vote in this year's midterm election—less than half of any other age group.

Dear MoveOn member,

A recent Gallup poll found that just 26% of 18- to 29-year-olds are certain to vote in this year's midterm election—less than half of any other age group.1

If we can't change those numbers, you can kiss the blue wave goodbye. Thankfully, we have a plan.

Since 2017, MoveOn has been developing a text messaging tool called Spoke, which helps volunteers send texts directly to potential voters. It's a great way to help get young people to vote. They are the cord-cutting generation. They don't watch TV—they stream. And they don't talk on the phone—they text.

Over the next 11 days, volunteers for MoveOn will send more than 20 million texts to potential voters whom we could not have reached using more traditional methods like phone calls or email.

But to pull off this amazing program, we need to scale up our tech—and fast. Just last week, the amazing flood of volunteers using our tool to send text messages crashed the system, and we had to purchase more server space and add dedicated tech support just to keep it up and running.

This is what our staff likes to call "a Cadillac problem," meaning that so many people are eager to help get out the vote that our systems are stretched to the limit to meet the demand. Which is why we need your help, Eddie.

Can you rush an emergency donation of $5 right now to help ensure that our text messaging system can stay up and running all the way through Election Day?

Why text messaging? Because it works—especially to reach young voters, who tend to vote for Democrats, but are among the hardest voter segments to turn out.

In 2016, large scale tests by some of the best election experts in the business found that you can increase turnout by .65% with get-out-the-vote text messages—which might not sound like much, but it could mean 500,000 to 800,000 votes nationwide, easily enough to swing control of Congress or a presidential election.2

Already, 500,000 people have pledged to vote via our text messaging program, and we still have more than 20 million more to contact!

It's easy to understand why text messaging has become so effective. Over the last decade, texting has become the dominant form of communication for millennials. People age 18-30 are spending less and less time talking on the phone and more and more time using social media and text messages to communicate.3

When young people do talk on the phone, it's usually to talk to a friend. Answering a cold call from a phone number you don't recognize? That's going the way of the fax machine or handwritten letter. The explosion of robocalling over the last year has supercharged the trend—these days, if you don't screen your calls, you'll go crazy.

Texting has also been proven to be more effective for getting out the vote than email, which lacks the immediacy of text messaging.4 Research shows that 90% of text messages are read within five minutes of being sent, while email can sit in the inbox unread for days or weeks, and phone calls don't get answered at all.5

Will you chip in $5 to make sure we can text more than 20 million potential voters over the next 11 days?

Yes, I'll chip in to help take back Congress and defeat Donald Trump.

Thanks for all you do.

I need your help, Eddie

This election will determine the future of your health care and the health care of every American. And right now, key races in this election are on a knife's edge.

Dear MoveOn member,

This election will determine the future of your health care and the health care of every American.

And right now, key races in this election are on a knife's edge.

The Republican plan for what they'll do if they win in November is clear: Mitch McConnell just announced that they will move forward with their plan to repeal the Affordable Care Act and gut Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security. If Republicans win, 99% of Americans lose.

But if we defeat Republicans, we will do more than just protect what we already have. We will take a giant step forward, toward the health care system that we truly need: Medicare for All.

Across the country, Democrats are running for the U.S. House on a Medicare for All platform that is so popular that it has sent the GOP into a frenzy. In a recent poll, 70% of Americans support the idea.1 So, of course, the GOP is pulling out every dirty trick in the book to stop Democrats from winning a mandate for bold, progressive reform.

The Republicans are resorting to fearmongering and even outright lies—and they are spreading those lies thanks to an influx of big money from right-wing corporations and billionaires.

Eddie, it is critical to show our support for the progressive candidates who are running to implement the ideas and policies that we all believe in. And, right now, three outstanding candidates who are fighting for Medicare for All—Randy Bryce, Jess King, and Liz Watson—are under attack and need our help.

Will you chip in $3 to their campaigns and help get their backs? Click here now. (100% of your contribution will go directly to their campaigns.)

Let me tell you a little bit more about these three candidates and why I think it's so important to support them.

  • Randy Bryce is an ironworker, union activist, and Army veteran running for Paul Ryan's seat in Wisconsin. In his 20s, Bryce was diagnosed with cancer, and despite having two jobs, he didn't have health insurance, and the health care bills bankrupted him. After his recovery, he found an apprenticeship job with the iron workers union and has been an active labor organizer ever since. Rather than face Randy this fall, Paul Ryan decided to retire—so now Randy's running against Ryan's hand-picked successor, who is just as right-wing and out of touch.2
  • Jess King is a working mom, small-business champion, and a leader in local economic development. She never planned on running for office. But after a career fighting for working families in Pennsylvania, she joined the race for Pennsylvania's 11th District because too many of us are working hard for too little while a greedy few rig the game in Washington. Her campaign has built a massive grassroots movement, the likes of which rural Pennsylvania has never seen.3
  • Liz Watson has been a legal advocate for working moms, low-wage workers, and victims of domestic violence. As the Labor Policy Director for the Democrats, she led the drafting of the $15-minimum-wage bill in the House and worked with my staff to introduce a companion bill in the Senate. After watching the Republican representative from her district vote against every protection for working families, she decided to step up and run for Congress herself.4

Republicans are targeting these candidates not just to prevent them from winning, but to try to discredit their—our—progressive ideas.

If we want to build an America that works for all of us, we have to band together to stop the billionaire class and the GOP. We have to show them that the combined efforts of regular people can stop even billions of dollars in dark money in its tracks. That's why it's so vital for all of us to get involved.

Will you click here to donate $3 to three Medicare for All supporters running for the U.S. House—all of them in races that could be decided by a handful of votes—and prove that dark money can't drown out the powerful chorus of regular people joining together? (100% of your contribution will go directly to the campaigns of Randy Bryce, Jess King, and Liz Watson.)

We have already made extraordinary progress, because thanks to your activism, for the first time in a midterm election in my lifetime, Medicare for All is at the center of the debate. That's the good news.

The bad news is that Republicans are systematically lying in order to tear down an idea that has already been proven to work in country after country.

Donald Trump wrote an op-ed saying our proposals would cut Medicare, when the truth is that it would expand Medicare—that's so obvious, it's right there in the name "Medicare for All." That op-ed was judged by independent fact-checkers to contain a falsehood or misleading claim in nearly every single sentence.5

And in races for the House and Senate, the GOP is trying to stir up fear and confusion about Medicare for All, while lying about their records and plans. We all know that Republicans in Congress have voted again and again to scrap protections for people with pre-existing conditions. Now they want the public to believe that those votes never happened? If they win in November, they'll feel that they can continue to lie about whatever they want.

Can you chip in $3 now to support Randy Bryce, Jess King, and Liz Watson—three terrific candidates who are fighting for Medicare for All—and show Donald Trump and the GOP that dishonest attacks on Medicare for All will only backfire on them?

The difference between the visions for our nation on the ballot this fall is as stark as you can imagine.

The Republicans are quite clear about their plans to attack the earned-benefit programs—Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security—that most American families rely on, all to pay for their tax cuts for those at the very top. If Republicans keep their control of Congress, we know that that's exactly what they'll do.

But if our bold, progressive, visionary candidates win this year, a bright future opens up. On November 6, we have got to show that Medicare for All has the support of the American people—not just in polls, but at the ballot box. We must decisively reject the politics of looting by the billionaire class. And we must pave the way for a future where every American, no matter his or her income or ZIP code, has access to a health care system built around the founding ideals of our nation: that all of us are created equal and instilled with inalienable rights.

Health care is a right, not a privilege. Can you donate $3—or whatever you can afford—now to help make sure that we affirm that right on November 6?

Click here to donate $3, or whatever you can afford, directly to Randy Bryce, Jess King, and Liz Watson right now. (100% of your contribution will go directly to their campaigns.)

In solidarity,

–Senator Bernie Sanders

I know that MoveOn members like you are moving heaven and earth to win this election. We're the majority. But we need to rise up. That's the only way out of this mess." Will you stand with MoveOn?

The arc of the moral universe is long (but we can bend it)

There are two possible scenarios ahead of us. Let me tell you about them.

Dear Eddie,

I'm not exaggerating when I say that the very future of health care in this country is at stake.

If Republicans keep control of the House, they'll keep trying to repeal the Affordable Care Act—and we might not be able to stop them again.

But if we can end Republican control of the House, we can stop their attacks dead in their tracks. And that's what MoveOn members are doing in district after district, state after state, for the next 13 days.

If you want to end Republican control of the House and protect our health care, click here to join your fellow MoveOn members in Woodside on Saturday to talk to voters directly about what's at stake.

Earlier this month I was with MoveOn members in Ohio and saw firsthand how thousands of MoveOn members are joining Waves—opportunities to talk to voters in the most important districts. Then I spoke to tens of thousands of MoveOn members on the weekly Resist & Win call. I talked a bit about the two possible scenarios that lie ahead of us. Let me recap:

What happens if Republicans stay in power in Congress? More attacks on the ACA, more attempts to reinstate lifetime caps, and more threats to people with pre-existing conditions. Oh, and more tax cuts for the superrich, while wages for the working class haven't gone up in 40 years.1

But what if we can end Republican control? Then they can't repeal the ACA. They can't take us back to the days when people with pre-existing conditions were denied coverage. And once we stop their attacks, we can start to chart the course toward the future we deserve: where Medicare for All is a reality and health care is a universal right for everyone in this country.

Which scenario comes to pass will be decided in the next 13 days. It will be decided by us, Eddie. If you're in, it's time to get engaged, hit the phones, and fight to end Republican control of Congress. Can you take action this weekend?

I'll be there! I want to campaign for a member-supported candidate near me on Saturday.

I didn't mince my words on the call two Sundays ago, and I won't mince them now: These are difficult times, and we can't pretend otherwise.

I also shared important words from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.: "The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice." And we must be the benders of the arc. We can bend the arc toward universal health care for everyone, starting with protecting the ACA and expanding Medicaid.

That's the choice that lies ahead of us in the next 13 days. Are you going to sit on your hands, ready to complain when Republicans stay in control? Or are you ready to get up, get out, and work?

If you want to see the ACA repealed, ignore this email. Just close it now. But if you want to see us move toward Medicare for All and a universal right to health care for everyone, click here to join MoveOn members at a Wave campaigning event near you in Woodside on Saturday.

Thanks for all you do.

Here is what Michael Moore has to say about MoveOn: "MoveOn is working around the clock to help organize and turn out volunteers to get out the vote in November. I know that MoveOn members like you are moving heaven and earth to win this election. We're the majority. But we need to rise up. That's the only way out of this mess." Will you chip in $3 a week to help win this election? (MoveOn will contact you shortly after Election Day to see if you want to modify or cancel your donation.)

Yes, I'll chip in weekly.

No, I'm sorry, I can't make a weekly donation.
