Sign the petition: Tell Amazon to stop selling Alex Jones' InfoWars products

Demand Amazon remove the "InfoWars Store" and pull all of Alex Jones' products off of Amazon.

Amazon: Stop selling fake news conspiracy theorist Alex Jones' merchandise and dietary supplements.

Dear fellow MoveOn member,

Alex Jones is a far-right conspiracy theorist profiting off a huge fake news empire via his InfoWars website, talk shows, and consumer products, who personally "helped jumpstart" the January 6 insurrection.1

Which is why it's completely unacceptable that Amazon sells Jones' merchandise and dietary supplements, even going so far as to host his online storefront.2

Demand Amazon remove the "InfoWars Store" and pull all of Alex Jones' products off of Amazon.

Facebook, Apple, YouTube, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter, Spotify, and PayPal have all banned Alex Jones for hate speech violations, according to NPR.3

Amazon forced Parler, a far-right social media platform, offline by suspending them from their AWS hosting platform after the January 6 insurrection, ultimately causing Parler to go offline for months. And yet, Amazon is fine collecting their 15% off of Jones' Super Male Vitality Natural Stamina Liquid Drops and other unregulated so-called nutritional supplements.4,5

It's time for Amazon to pull the InfoWars Store and stop profiting off of hate speech peddler Alex Jones.

Click here to add your name to this petition, and then pass it along to your friends.

Thanks!

–Chris Ennis

Want a free "End Gun Violence" sticker?

We've printed a big batch of these "End Gun Violence" stickers, and we're giving them away for free—while supplies last.

Dear MoveOn member,

On Monday, a gunman carrying an AR-15 walked into a grocery store in Boulder, CO, and killed 10 people.

Just days before, another gunman, fueled by white supremacy and misogyny, purchased a 9 mm handgun and opened fire in three massage parlors in Atlanta, killing eight people, including six Asian American women. Over 4,200 people in the U.S. have already lost their lives to gun violence this year alone.1

Enough. It's time to enact bold, federal laws to end gun violence in America.

Which is why MoveOn is pushing harder than ever to end the filibuster so that Congress can finally pass gun control legislation and other critical laws that will keep our communities safe and build an America where everyone can thrive.

To get the word out and drum up support, we've printed a big batch of these "End Gun Violence" stickers, and we're giving them away for free—while supplies last.

Just click here or on the image below to order your free sticker.

House Democrats have already passed sweeping gun reform legislation, including one bill that would require background checks for gun purchases and another bill that aims to reduce police gun violence.2

But those bills are being obstructed in the Senate due to the filibuster—an arcane and racist rule that allows the Republican minority to block the Democratic majority from passing critical laws.

For the first time in a decade, Democrats control the House, the Senate, and the White House, giving us our best shot in years to enact ambitious gun control legislation. We can't let the GOP Senate minority stop us from doing so.

It's time to act. It's time to end the filibuster. It's time to pass gun control legislation and help end the gun violence epidemic in the U.S.

Click here to order your "End Gun Violence" sticker today to show the world where you stand.

Thanks for all you do.

Include long-term care in Medicare (petition)

Long-term care is a necessity for those who are unable to perform the activities of daily living on their own and require safe and caring services to live.

Dear fellow MoveOn member,

Long-term care is a necessity for those who are unable to perform the activities of daily living on their own and require safe and caring services to live.

Yet the absence of coverage under Medicare for long-term care is one of the biggest and most tragic omissions in the care it pays for, oftentimes leaving those who require long-term care in the position where they and their immediate families are forced to liquidate all their possessions in order to pay for care, until they finally become eligible for Medicaid—if that's even an option for them. This is simply unacceptable.

Sign this petition demanding that Medicare cover long-term care for patients in skilled nursing facilities, congregate care homes, and those living in their homes with long-term care needs.

All across the U.S., care facilities are notoriously fraught with nightmarish inadequacies, a reality that is demonstrated by federal and state-level review processes.

Medicare's covering long-term care will impose new levels of accountability, increased accessibility, and will allow patients to receive a higher standard of care.

Click here to add your name to this petition, and then pass it along to your friends.

Thanks!

We have to do our part

MoveOn members start and sign petitions every day. Learn more about how these people-powered petitions make an impact and and how to start your own campaign.

Dear fellow MoveOn member,

I'm Diane Yoder, and I'm a MoveOn member like you.

This past November, I started a MoveOn petition that was signed by over 250,000 people and helped change the shape of the national landscape. This is my story, and why I think you should start a petition about something you care about too.

2020 was quite the year for all of us. I started the year doing my job, coming home, and going about my routine as I always did. Then the world stopped when COVID-19 came.

I have the kind of job that requires you to serve others, and I derive a great sense of fulfillment from that—but the sense of not having a purpose really surfaced when I was faced with so much time on my hands, when I realized how busy I keep myself all of the time. We as Americans never stop, it seems.

But while we were still in the center of all the turmoil and anger and pain in this country, I noticed random acts of kindness—small ones, like people opening the door for others when I'd go out for groceries, and big ones, like when an acquaintance of mine contracted terminal cancer at 35 and half the town organized the largest benefit I've ever seen. It reminded me that service is what this life is about. We are at our best, our finest, when we give of ourselves to others—like folks who go to help hurricane victims or the way people band together after a family loses their home to fire. It's a balm to the wound of division and hatred.

So I decided I needed to continue to be of service, but in a new way. I put together a political group on Facebook to give people a safe place to air their concerns without fear of being ridiculed. It doesn't matter whether members are Republican, Democrat, Libertarian, or something else. Everybody belongs. Everybody in the group had fears about the course our country was on. We got together and learned how the government works by fielding questions from the members and researching. We learned how to contact our legislators. We contacted them when we saw things we didn't like. We resisted the idea that our voice or our vote doesn't matter.

And then Emily Murphy rose up to block the peaceful transition of power after the November 2020 election, and we learned about this little federal agency called the General Services Administration, of which not many of us had ever heard.

When I found out that she was holding up Biden's transition funds, our group saw it as the final straw in four years of breaking precedent and tradition, not in the name of service to the American people, but in the name of self-service for an abusive and xenophobic presidency.

That is when I realized that democracy isn't a spectator sport. We have to do our part.

So I started a petition with MoveOn to demand that Emily Murphy release the Biden transition funds. All of the members of the group signed it. Truth be told, I didn't know how large of a response it would get. I was happy we all stood up and did something by signing it. Then MoveOn stepped in and sent it out to more MoveOn members, and together, all of us made a huge difference, and the transition funds were released after our petition delivery was featured on CNN.

It could never have happened without MoveOn and everyone who signed. It would never have been successful if I hadn't stood up and spoken out and started the petition in the first place, if all of us hadn't done our part. It was incredible and so gratifying to see that I was a part of changing the shape of our national landscape.

Will you do what I did and start a petition about an issue that matters to you?

I learned so much from this experience, but most importantly, service isn't one person; that's just the spark. Service is about all of us working together for the good of our country and other people. We can no longer live our lives and allow the running of our country to be on the shoulders of those we elect. We all have to shoulder that privilege and responsibility.

Join us and be of service to our communities and our country by starting a petition today.

Thank you!

–Diane Yoder, MoveOn member

To end gun violence, we must end the filibuster (call now)

Will you call your senators today and say that it's time to end Republican abuse of the filibuster, the right-wing obstruction, and Mitch McConnell's stranglehold on our country?

Dear MoveOn member,

Forget "thoughts and prayers." Following another deadly massacre, in Colorado—once again conducted with a military-grade AR-15 assault weapon—and on the heels of a mass shooting in Atlanta, GA, fueled by anti-Asian hate, we need more than thoughts and prayers.1 We need leaders who will act to confront violence.

We need common-sense gun reform laws, and we need action.

What's stopping our country from reinstating the assault weapons ban and passing a range of other broadly popular measures to combat gun violence? A mixture of political will—and the Republican abuse of the filibuster, which means that a majority of senators won't be able to take up measures that the vast majority of the American people agree with.2

Can you call your senators today and say that it's time to end Republican abuse of the filibuster, the right-wing obstruction, and Mitch McConnell's stranglehold on our country? Tell your senators, Charles E. Schumer and Kirsten E. Gillibrand, to end the filibuster, so we can get things done.

Here's where to call:

  • Sen. Schumer - (202) 224-6542
  • Sen. Gillibrand - (202) 224-4451

Then click here to tell us how your call went, so we can report how many calls were made today.

The public is on our side. Nearly 70% of Americans believe that our country needs an assault weapons ban.3 In the last session of Congress, Democrats in the House passed gun control measures to expand background checks on gun purchases. The only thing that stopped it: McConnell wouldn't let it come to a vote.

And now, with Democrats in the majority in the Senate and in power in the White House, it's a chance to finally pass these reforms. Except one thing will still stop them: Mitch McConnell won't let them come to a vote.

Why is this? Because the filibuster—a Jim Crow-era relic invented by pro-slavery senators before the Civil War, that has a history of being used to stop civil rights laws, prevent the passage of over 200 anti-lynching bills, and enshrine segregation—is now being abused by Republicans to entrench their minority power.4

They are using it to stop the Senate from taking action on voting rights. On LGBTQ+ rights. On worker rights. On police reforms. On immigration reform.

And now, they are using it to stop action on gun violence.

Enough is enough. Democrats were elected to govern. The public wants action on protecting our democracy, our rights, and our immigrant communities. Democrats must lead to change the filibuster rules and Republicans must get out of the way. Your senator needs to hear why acting urgently to end the filibuster is important to you.

And the public wants common-sense gun reform. Now. Call your senators and say, "End the filibuster, and pass common-sense gun laws."

Here's where to call:

  • Sen. Schumer - (202) 224-6542
  • Sen. Gillibrand - (202) 224-4451

Then click here to tell us how your call went, so we can report how many calls were made today.

MoveOn members have a long history of working on gun violence issues. MoveOn members shared a stage with President Barack Obama when he closed gun sales loopholes by executive order. We marched with March for Our Lives and invested in Black-led organizations tackling gun violence. We worked in coalitions that changed Walmart's gun policies, followed the leadership of Representative John Lewis when he held a sit-in after the Pulse nightclub massacre, and added pressure to put the NRA on its heels.

But now is a real opportunity to pass the federal legislation we know is critical. To do that we need to get the filibuster out of the way.

We'll still have more work to do to tackle the culture of violence, which is a constant in our country, from the Capitol insurrection, to the anti-Asian mass shooting in Atlanta, to the massacre in Colorado. We need to address its root causes and white supremacy, and we need to invest in confronting gun violence as a public health epidemic.

But we can start with wildly popular measures, which are ready to go.

To get there, we need to end the filibuster. And we can. Now.

Thanks for all you do.

NEW: The Moment with MoveOn monthly livestream

Will you join us on Wednesday, March 24 at 8 p.m. ET (7 CT/6 MT/5 PT)?

Dear MoveOn member,

The American Rescue Plan, President Biden's $1.9 trillion relief bill, delivered much-needed support to the country and will deliver checks to those who need them most, cut child poverty in half, make health care more affordable, and much more.

While this is a moment to celebrate, it is also a moment to look forward to what's next, because there is still work to do to deliver the broad, systemic change that Americans need and expect. Together, we can demand that Congress go bold and go big—no excuses and no exceptions.

Will you join on Wednesday for a national livestream event with Rep. Katie Porter to hear about how you can take action with MoveOn members across the country to push for transformative solutions during Recovery Recess to meet the many urgent crises we face?

Click here to RSVP to the first of the new monthly livestream series of The Moment with MoveOn, on Wednesday, March 24 at 8 p.m. ET (7 CT/6 MT/5 PT).

Together, we can make health care a human right, we can raise the federal minimum wage, we can swiftly address climate change, we can champion racial justice by addressing the impacts of white supremacy, we can take action against voter suppression by passing the For the People Act, we can create a pathway to citizenship for undocumented residents, and do so much more.

The Moment with MoveOn will cover this and more throughout the year as we discuss the most important issues of the day and how to make an impact to create an America that works for all of us.

Will you join The Moment with MoveOn, the new monthly livestream series, on Wednesday, March 24 at 8 p.m. ET (7 CT/6 MT/5 PT) with special guest Rep. Katie Porter? Click here to RSVP now.

Here's what this week's livestream will cover:

  • Talking with Rep. Katie Porter, CA-45, famous for her white boards at committee hearings, to celebrate the work that MoveOn members like you did to pass the American Rescue Plan and talk about what's next in Recovery Recess, including why it is important to take action now to build on this momentum.

  • Why MoveOn is a leader in Recovery Recess in this moment when our families, our economy, and our democracy are in crisis. We need real recovery now and must push to ensure that the next recovery bill is bold and big.

  • Strategizing about how we can get Congress to urgently deliver jobs, care, justice, climate solutions, and real democracy for all of our people.

Thanks for all you do.

Can we send you a FREE John Lewis voting rights sticker?

We just printed a big batch of these John Lewis voting rights stickers, and we're giving them away for free—while supplies last.

Dear MoveOn member,

The late Congressman John Lewis dedicated his life to fighting for civil rights, including expanding and protecting the right to vote, from his early days as one of the original Freedom Riders and leader of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee to his final days fighting for us in Congress.

But, now, following Donald Trump's Big Lie of a stolen election, right-wing lawmakers across the country have introduced more than 250 bills designed to make it more difficult for Black people, people of color, and young people to vote.1

MoveOn is fighting back by building the support needed to pass critical federal voting rights legislation through the Senate. To get the word out and ramp up the pressure, we just printed a big batch of these John Lewis voting rights stickers, and we're giving them away for free—while supplies last.

Just click here or on the image below to order your FREE sticker, and show the world that you stand with John Lewis and for voting rights.

Mar, we are learning that conservative groups are dumping more than $10 million into an effort to kill the For the People Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Act.2

These two landmark federal bills would reform our democracy and secure the right to vote for millions of voters of color and young voters, which is why MoveOn is campaigning hard to build the support needed to pass these bills through the Senate.

But the right-wing billionaires and their lackeys in Congress will stop at nothing to obstruct this critical legislation.

There's never been a better time to show the world that you stand for equitable access to the ballot for ALL voters.

Thanks for all you do.

Inwood needs you

Join Recovery Recess to demand that Congress deliver green jobs, care jobs, justice, green infrastructure, climate solutions, real democracy, and honor Indigenous tribal sovereignty.

Dear MoveOn member,

Members of Congress are heading home for spring recess, and this is the critical time for them to hear from us, the people they represent!

MoveOn and our partners are launching "Recovery Recess"—a national push to use the first congressional recess of the Biden Administration to celebrate the American Rescue Plan, hold accountable those who voted against it, and push for even bolder action ahead to invest in our recovery. But to do this, we need your help. Would you pledge to host or attend an event in your area demanding that Congress deliver green jobs, care jobs, justice, green infrastructure, climate solutions, real democracy, and honor Indigenous tribal sovereignty?

Logo for Recovery Recess

Pledge to join or host an in-person or online event near you to take action over recess—and we'll keep you updated as events are added to the map.

Get creative! The possibilities of events to get people in your community together to send a message to Congress are endless. Host a socially-distanced block party to align your community on the issues that matter, get fellow MoveOn members together to paint a mural, or find other ways to show up together to demonstrate what's at stake, how the COVID relief bill is helping us, and why we need the next recovery stimulus to go even further.

Socially-distanced events will take place outdoors, in person throughout the recess, along with online events, March 29-April 11, including the "Time to Thrive" day of action with events across the country on Wednesday, March 31, organized by the Green New Deal Network. Be a part of the change.

Sign the pledge page now to let us know you'll host or join an event near you—and we'll keep you up to date as hundreds of events are added to the map throughout the recess.

Please remember that we are still in a pandemic, and your health—and that of those around you—is very important. If you are part of an at-risk group, please do not attend an in-person event. If you do attend, please wear a mask, bring plenty of hand sanitizer, and remain at least six feet away from others.

MoveOn is here to support you with a host and attendee guide, a host prep call, and tools you need for a local event. Thank you for being a leader in your community and coming together to advocate for big, bold action!

Thanks for all you do.

Atlanta

Above all, the legacies of white supremacy and misogyny—which are still alive and well today—paved the way to yesterday's violence.

Dear MoveOn member,

Yesterday, a 21-year-old white man opened fire on three massage parlors across the Atlanta metro area. He murdered eight people, including six Asian women.1

This comes as just the latest major incident of violence suffered by Asian American communities, especially women. According to a recent report, hate crimes targeting Asian Americans have surged over 150% in major cities in the last year.2 And unsurprisingly, it's women and nonbinary people who are disproportionately harmed by this bigotry. In fact, Asian women have reported twice as many hate incidents over the past year.3

These events are shocking and upsetting to all, and we hope you will join us in taking the time to reflect on how you will support the Asian American community. And if you identify as AAPI, we hope that you are making the time and space to care for yourself and get the support you need during this difficult time.

A series of deliberate political decisions enabled yesterday's tragedy, and we can absolutely point to specific policies, such as lax gun laws, which led to these murders.

But above all, the legacies of white supremacy and misogyny—which are still alive and well today—paved the way to yesterday's events. Racist, xenophobic, and misogynistic politicians and political movements have thrived over the last five years—and anti-Asian policies and attitudes in the U.S. date back centuries. Donald Trump has repeatedly used the coronavirus as a Sinophobic slur in an effort to distract from his own failures and mishandling of the pandemic. Meanwhile, politicians across the country continue to peddle anti-Asian lies and misinformation for their own personal gain and use their positions to enshrine attacks against women, especially women of color, into law.

AAPI-led organizations, leaders, and community members repeatedly warned government officials and advocates about increased incidents of anti-Asian discrimination over the past year (including in Atlanta), but their warnings were largely ignored, leaving Atlanta's AAPI community vulnerable to such an attack.4

Today, we'll begin the process of mourning the losses to our community. We'll start to grieve the tragedies of yesterday's horrific killings, and we'll be there to support our family, friends, and loved ones who are affected by it.

And in the days and weeks to come, we'll channel this energy into confronting white supremacy head-on, building power and educating, engaging, and mobilizing our communities into action—so that we heed our AAPI community members' warnings and ensure that we don't leave anyone else vulnerable to white supremacist violence.

To start, here are some important organizations fighting for Asian American rights. Be sure to follow and engage with them as they begin planning next steps and actions following yesterday's horrific attack.

And be sure to stay tuned for updates in the near future.

Thanks for all you do.

Major announcement: Our plan to end the GOP stranglehold in down-ballot races

Today, MoveOn is announcing that we're launching a major initiative to recruit hundreds of diverse, progressive MoveOn members to run for uncontested down-ballot races across the country.

Dear MoveOn member,

There are over 520,000 elected offices in the U.S.—and, shockingly, Democrats aren't competing in up to 75% of them, letting the GOP steamroll their way to power across the country.1

So today, MoveOn is announcing that we're launching a major initiative to recruit hundreds of diverse, progressive MoveOn members to run for uncontested down-ballot races across the country.

We are expanding our partnership with Contest Every Race to help end GOP dominance in down-ballot races by making sure no Republican runs for office without a Democratic challenger.

But recruiting, training, and helping power candidates to victory is expensive work—so we need your ongoing help. Will you chip in $5 monthly to help fuel the effort? When you chip in monthly, you will get this free, exclusive sticker!

Mar, there are dire and dangerous consequences when we allow the GOP to win without even putting up a fight.

And we're seeing those dire consequences play out right now in real time.

This year alone, the GOP has introduced more than 250 pieces of legislation to make it harder to vote.2 And in many states, the GOP has supermajorities that allow them to pass any piece of legislation they desire.

But it's not just attacks on our democracy. The right wing has used their long-held supermajorities to attack abortion rights. In the last decade, GOP-run state legislatures have passed more than 400 laws aimed at restricting access to abortion.3

Of the local elections that Republicans win, 70% have no challenger.4 It's time we fight back. And it's time we stop letting the GOP win elections and stroll into office without even challenging them.

Which is why we're gearing up to recruit hundreds of diverse, progressive MoveOn members to run for office and challenge the GOP's stranglehold on state and local offices.

But this is a massive undertaking that will take sustained support, so we need your help. Will you chip in $5 a month to power our efforts to recruit and train progressives to take on the GOP at the ballot box? When you chip in monthly you'll get a free, exclusive "Proud Progressive" sticker!

Yes, I'll chip in monthly and get my free sticker.

No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.

With your help, we will be able to provide strong support for endorsed candidates, including trainings on how to do the following:

  • Recruit and organize volunteers.
  • Raise grassroots donations.
  • Most effectively use social media to get their message out.
  • And more.

We know the next elections may seem far away, but in many states and localities, candidates are already filing paperwork to run for office.

We don't have a moment to spare. Please, if you can, will you start a $5 monthly donation to help power our long-term efforts to challenge the GOP in down-ballot races?

Yes, I'll chip in monthly and get my free sticker.

No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.

Thanks for all you do.

Sign: Launch an investigation into Trump’s crimes!

The Department of Justice must investigate Trump and his associates.  The Department of Justice must investigate Trump and his associates.

Dear MoveOn member,

The list of Trump's crimes is long, and there is finally a person with power who can hold him accountable.

Sign: Tell Attorney General Merrick Garland to investigate Trump and his cronies!

Attorney General Merrick Garland was recently confirmed by the U.S. Senate to lead the Department of Justice, and there is so much work to be done after Trump's attorney general, Bill Barr, abused his power to do Trump's bidding by acting as his personal lawyer and covering up Trump's many crimes. The GOP Treason Caucus refused to hold Trump accountable and helped him evade consequences, but we can finally do something about it: We can demand that the Department of Justice investigate Trump and his associates.

Over the past few years, Donald Trump, his aides, and associates have engaged in a flurry of unethical, unconstitutional, and often criminal activity, culminating with the seditious insurrection at the United States Capitol on January 6 led by white nationalists, incited and encouraged by Trump and his cronies in the GOP Treason Caucus. This is why we need Attorney General Merrick Garland to launch an investigation into any potential federal criminal or civil violations that may have been committed by Donald Trump, members of his administration, and his other associates.

Trump doesn't stop being a threat to our democracy just because he is no longer president. His blatantly racist, sexist, xenophobic, homophobic, and anti-immigrant rhetoric will live on, fueling his base that is filled with white supremacists and fueling members of the GOP Treason Caucus that refused to hold him accountable for his attacks on our democracy. The damage has been done, and the consequences will be lasting.

Former Attorney General Bill Barr used his role at the Department of Justice to act as Trump's personal lawyer, covering up his crimes. As Attorney General Merrick Garland works to restore the integrity of the Department of Justice and the rule of law to our nation, it is essential that the department thoroughly investigate these actions and hold those who have violated the nation's laws accountable.

Homestead Child Detention Center (petition)

The Homestead Child Detention Center may reopen despite multiple reports of sexual abuse and dangerous living conditions.

Sign the petition: Keep the Homestead Child Detention Center closed forever.

Dear MoveOn member,

Under Trump, the Homestead Child Detention Center functioned as a prison for children coming to the U.S. seeking refuge and safety. Unless we act, it could reopen, imprisoning more children and separating countless families.

Will you sign this petition urging the Biden administration to keep the Homestead Child Detention Center closed forever?

Reopening emergency influx centers that operate as mass detention centers for children is not an acceptable option. In 2019, the Homestead Child Detention Center in Florida was shut down due to multiple horrifying reports of sexual abuse, dangerous living conditions, and years of organizing to lift up these problems.1,2 The Homestead Child Detention Center must stay closed.

Detention centers are places where abuses are rampant, health care is inadequate, and social distancing is impossible, creating lasting trauma for many. The cost of that to children, families, and our communities is incalculable. Reopening Homestead—or any child detention center—places young people in greater danger, especially during this pandemic.

Environmental conditions at the Homestead detention center pose serious health and safety threats to the children who would be caged there, including possible exposure to toxic chemicals, waste, and substances from a neighboring Superfund site known to cause cancer and other diseases. This is inhumane.

In 2019, when the Homestead detention center held around 2,000 children under President Trump, we came together with partners and community members in Florida and across the country to shut it down for good. Now, we're mobilizing to stop the Biden administration from reopening the center.

Instead of contributing to further trauma to the undocumented community, we must prioritize uniting migrant children with family members. President Biden and his administration promised to reunite children separated from their families and to treat immigrants with the respect and dignity we all deserve. Making right on that promise must include keeping the Homestead Child Detention Center closed for good.

Click here to add your name to this petition, and then pass it along to your friends.

Thanks!
