UPDATE: Remove Nunes immediately

Will you sign and share the petition demanding that Rep. Devin Nunes be removed from the House Intelligence Committee?

Dear Eddie,

Three days ago, MoveOn filed a federal ethics complaint with the House Office of Congressional Ethics against Representative Devin Nunes—a member of Donald Trump's transition team and chairman of the House Intelligence Committee—for "violating the Espionage Act and the Rules of the House by disclosing classified information without the authorization required by House Rules or any other proper authorization."1

And just yesterday, The New York Times reported that two White House officials gave Nunes access to the classified information he then shared with Trump.2

Will you sign and share the petition asking for Rep. Devin Nunes to be removed from the House Intelligence Committee and for an investigation into ties between Trump's team and Russia to be conducted? Click here to add your name.

We just crossed 200,000 signatures and want to have more than a quarter million before we deliver your signatures to House leadership.

Thanks for all you do.

Dear fellow MoveOn member,

Last week, U.S. Representative Devin Nunes—a member of Donald Trump's transition team and chair of the House Intelligence Committee—disclosed possible information about alleged White House surveillance to members of the press and the White House, prior to sharing it with members of his own committee.1 Additionally, the day before Rep. Nunes addressed the news media about these claims, he held a secret meeting at the White House with the source of the allegations.2

This is partisan obstruction of justice.

Will you sign and share my petition to Speaker of the House Paul Ryan and House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy demanding that Rep. Nunes be removed from the House Intelligence Committee?

We the people demand that Devin Nunes be removed from the House Intelligence Committee. We demand a special prosecutor and an independent investigation!

The interests of our country are being threatened by partisan politics. Rep. Nunes appears to be in collusion with Trump to protect him from the investigation into his campaign's ties to Russia.

Kick Rep. Nunes off the House Intelligence Committee and demand a special prosecutor to lead an independent investigation!

Click here to add your name to this petition, and then pass it along to your friends.

Thanks!

Montana's Bernie Sanders?

Last week, Republicans lost—badly. They saw their major legislative priority, one that they'd been pursuing for seven years, go down in flames. This week, we have a chance to capitalize on that momentum and send them running scared. Last week, Republicans lost—badly. Dear MoveOn member,

Last week, Republicans lost—badly. They saw their major legislative priority, one that they'd been pursuing for seven years, go down in flames.

This week, we have a chance to capitalize on that momentum and send them running scared.

It's one thing to lose in Washington. But we have the chance to show Republicans that their jobs could be in jeopardy by turning this genuine grassroots energy into electoral power in a special congressional election in Montana.

There’s a special election coming up in less than 60 days to fill Montana’s open House seat, and the Democrat running in this deep red state, Rob Quist, is an unabashed progressive populist and Bernie Sanders supporter—and he could very well win!1 An upset victory in this race would send shockwaves through Washington and put the House in play for Democrats in 2018.

This Friday at midnight is the fundraising deadline, and the amount Quist is able to raise from the grassroots will be seen as a major test of strength for the campaign. Will you chip in $3 now to help send Rob Quist to Washington and to support MoveOn's campaign to help him win?

Yes, I'll chip in to support the Rob Quist campaign and MoveOn's effort to help send him to Congress.

Right now, many politicians and journalists are wondering whether the energy of the resistance will last and whether it can have the kind of impact that the Tea Party had. The way to demonstrate that this grassroots moment will have a lasting effect is by winning elections.

That's part of why MoveOn members have already contributed more than $260,000 to Jon Ossoff, who is running in another special election in Georgia to win the seat vacated by Tom Price, Trump's secretary of Health and Human Services and an original architect of the plan to repeal health care. Right now, Ossoff is AHEAD in that race, and it's sending tremors through the political world.2

The Rob Quist race has the chance to further that momentum. And Quist's platform is good for all of us—because Montanans and all Americans deserve better access to health care, better wages, clean air and water, and protection of our civil liberties and civil rights.

MoveOn is continuing to help spread the word about Quist, engaging national allies as well as local MoveOn members, and we'll be recruiting volunteers and helping get out the vote on Election Day—which is just 55 days away.

MoveOn members helped boost Jon Ossoff's campaign, and it's making national headlines. Can we do the same for Rob Quist? Will you pitch in $3—or whatever you can afford—before this Friday's filing deadline?

Yes, I'll chip in.

Thanks for all you do.

CORRECTION regarding Rep. Meeks

Dear MoveOn member,

Earlier you may have received an email asking you to phone Representative Gregory W. Meeks to seek his support of a Resolution of Inquiry into Trump's and Sessions' ties to Russia.

But Rep. Meeks was already a supporter. So if you do phone today, please phone to say thank you!

And if you've already phoned, your call let the representative know how much you care about investigating Donald Trump and his associates.

We always strive to get our info 100% right, but in this case we messed up.

And we apologize sincerely for this error and any inconvenience.

Thanks for all you do.

Add your name: We stand with Aramis Ayala

Will you sign and share this petition to Florida Governor Rick Scott and demand he reinstate State Attorney Aramis Ayala immediately?

Dear MoveOn member,

Florida Governor Rick Scott just wrongfully removed the first Black woman state attorney in Florida's history from a key case after she heroically pledged not to use the death penalty.

On Thursday, we will deliver your signatures to Gov. Scott and demand that he reinstate State Attorney Aramis Ayala immediately. Will you sign and share this petition and make sure your name is included?

Let Aramis Ayala do her job. Put her back on the Markeith Loyd case immediately.

Aramis Ayala ran on a daring platform committing to real change for our communities. Her bold move is a direct response to the voters who put her in office and shows the kind of leadership we need to see from prosecutors across the country. And Gov. Scott is sending a scary and unfair message: the voters' choice in whom they elect to serve real justice does not matter.

Click here to add your name to this petition, and then pass it along to your friends.

Thanks!

No Supreme Court pick for Trump (Watch now!)

On the heels of a major health care victory, Senate Democrats are uniting to fight like hell to block Judge Neil Gorsuch's lifetime appointment to the Supreme Court. Democrats are uniting to fight like hell to block Judge Neil Gorsuch's lifetime appointment on the Supreme Court.

Dear fellow MoveOn member,

On the heels of a major health care victory, Senate Democrats are uniting to deny Judge Neil Gorsuch a lifetime seat on the Supreme Court.1

Please watch and share my latest video with MoveOn. Trump doesn’t get to make a lifetime appointment to our nation’s highest court while there are significant and serious questions about the legitimacy of his presidency.

SCOTUS

(Not on Facebook? You can watch and share via YouTube.)

Here's one big reason that Democrats should be fighting like hell to block Gorsuch's nomination: Trump and his associates are the subject of a current criminal investigation by the FBI for possible ties to Russia and efforts to sway the November election.2

Please watch and share my latest video with MoveOn to help make sure that Democrats continue to fight like hell to block Trump’s (ultra-conservative) Supreme Court pick.

Thanks for all you do.

BREAKING: Huge victory on health care!

Minutes ago, House Speaker Paul Ryan pulled the Republican health care bill from the House floor. And it's because of one thing and one thing only: Your unprecendented grassroots resistance, alongside millions of other Americans, since the election. Minutes ago, House Speaker Paul Ryan pulled the Republican health care bill from the House floor. And it's because of one thing and one thing only: Your unprecendented grassroots resistance, alongside millions of other Americans, since the election.

Dear MoveOn member,

Your voice and your actions just helped save health care for millions of Americans.

This afternoon, House Speaker Paul Ryan pulled the Republican health care bill from the House floor. Donald Trump pushed hard to pass the bill, but in the end, the Republican leadership simply did not have the votes to pass it.

And it's because of one thing and one thing only: Your unprecedented grassroots resistance, alongside millions of other Americans, since the election—your nonstop calls, personal stories, town hall meetings, protests, Tweets, and other actions to fiercely defend health care for millions of Americans. MoveOn members made over 40,000 calls to Congress just today! The Washington Post reported that calls were running 48-to-1 against the bill.1

All these calls and other actions forced more members of the Republican caucus from moderate congressional districts to come out against the bill today in the final negotiations, as the GOP leadership gave additional concessions to secure the votes of the far-right "Freedom Caucus." And you helped strengthen Democrats and keep them united in opposition to the bill every step of the way.

Make no mistake about it: This bill has been the GOP's top priority. The GOP and Fox News have been obsessively railing against the Affordable Care Act for seven years. Every single GOP member campaigned on repealing it.

But the resistance movement just stopped them in their tracks and handed Trump and the GOP a HUGE legislative defeat. Will you share this graphic right now?

Let's celebrate. We helped stop a morally bankrupt bill that would have taken health care away from 24 million people, defunded Planned Parenthood, and stripped away coverage for basic services such as check-ups for kids, maternity care, and prescription drugs, while increasing costs for most people and giving large tax breaks to the super-rich.

And let's recommit to the fight. We'll need to be vigilant and ready to leap back into action if GOP leaders try to introduce another failed, cruel, destructive effort at ripping away health care from millions of Americans.

The fight against Trump and the GOP agenda, as well as for high-quality affordable health care for every American, continues. And now we have another reminder of just how much the resistance—you!—can accomplish.

We did it! Thank you!

And thanks for all you do.

Help stop Trumpcare (House vote TODAY)

Trumpcare would rip away health care from 24 million Americans, gut Medicaid, and defund Planned Parenthood. And in just hours, the bill could pass the House of Representatives.

Dear MoveOn member,

Trumpcare would rip away health care from 24 million Americans, gut Medicaid, and defund Planned Parenthood. And in just hours, the bill could pass the House of Representatives. Unless folks around the country FLOOD Republican representatives with phone calls.

Will you share this graphic on Facebook right now? By sharing, you can make sure that your friends and family who have Republican representatives find out what's happening—and FLOOD their lawmakers with phone calls.

One you've shared, check MoveOn's Facebook page throughout the day for updates and more ways you can take action.

Yesterday, Trumpcare was expected to pass the House of Representatives. But then, in a dramatic turn of events, Speaker Ryan couldn't get the votes and was forced to pull the bill at the last minute.

Now, Ryan and Donald Trump are demanding a vote TODAY (Friday).1

That's the bad news. The good news is: We've been here before. Our strategy is to delay the Trumpcare disaster until we ultimately derail it. So far, that strategy has paid off. Republicans originally planned to repeal Obamacare before Trump was even sworn in and send it to his desk on Day 1. Thanks to our persistence, it was delayed for two months.

Every additional delay is a victory. The longer we delay the vote, the more Americans oppose this Trumpcare scheme, the less likely it is to pass, and the harder it is for the rest of Trump's toxic agenda to become a reality.

But to succeed in killing Trumpcare for good, we've got to keep at it.

Please share this graphic on Facebook right now, so that your friends and family who have Republican representatives find out what's going on—and FLOOD GOP lawmakers with phone calls.

And then check MoveOn's Facebook page throughout the day for updates and more ways you can take action.

Thanks for all you do.

P.S. Want to do even more (or don't use Facebook)?

1. Call your senators, or send them a personal note via their websites. Tell them you are outraged by the House health care bill that would take away health care from 24 million Americans and gut Medicaid. Ask them to vote no and to make sure the bill is dead on arrival in the Senate. You can look up your senators' websites and phone numbers here.

2. Take 10 minutes to write to and call friends and family represented by Republicans, let them know the stakes are real and this could happen today, and persuade them to call their own members of Congress, who will feel pressure from their constituents.

Mar-a-Lago

Will you sign and share the petition to encourage Congress to pass legislation to limit the amount of our taxpayer money spent on the Trump family's golf trips, vacations, and business trips?

Dear MoveOn member,

I'm Maja Seif, a fellow MoveOn member in Sacramento, California, and I started a petition to Congress, which says:

Legislation must be passed to limit the amount of our taxpayer money spent on the Trump family's golf trips, vacations, and business trips—and on future presidents' expenses.

Support the No Taxpayer Revenue Used to Monetize the Presidency Act, or, the No TRUMP Act.

Trump's family business trips and vacations cost taxpayers over $11 million in just his first month in office.1 That $11 million paid for security on Trump's children's business trips on behalf of the Trump business organization and for Trump's three trips to the Mar-a-Lago resort, which he owns.By contrast, the Obamas' personal travel expenses were $12 million for one year.3

In light of this exorbitant spending, Representative Earl Blumenauer introduced the No Taxpayer Revenue Used to Monetize the Presidency Act, or, the No TRUMP Act, to prohibit the use of taxpayer funds to pay for events, overnight stays, food, and other miscellaneous expenses at hotels owned or operated by a president or his or her relatives.4

Will you sign and share the petition telling your members of Congress to support the No TRUMP Act?

What's worse, while the taxpayers continue to pay millions for him to play golf, Trump recently unveiled his cruel and immoral budget plan that would cut funding to PBS, NEA, Meals on Wheels, heat assistance, and other important social services.5,6

Essentially, we, the taxpayers, are paying exorbitant sums for the wealthy Trumps to further enrich themselves personally.

It's hypocrisy and it's unfair to taxpayers. Lawmakers must find a way to limit extravagant spending by this administration—especially when it profits the president personally—and prevent similar behavior by future administrations and presidents.

Click here to add your name to this petition, and then pass it along to your friends.

Thanks!

—Maja Seif

VIDEO: Elizabeth Warren demands an explanation before tomorrow (health care)

The House plans to vote tomorrow on a bill that would take away health care from 24 million Americans.

Dear MoveOn member,

Tomorrow, Republicans in the House of Representatives are expected to vote to dismantle the Affordable Care Act—tearing away health care from 24 million Americans, raising costs for nearly everyone, gutting Medicaid, cutting support for opioid treatments and children with disabilities, and defunding Planned Parenthood—all to give a tax break to the super-rich.

The fate of the bill is still up in the air as a number of conservative and moderate House Republicans and two Senate Republicans have announced they'll vote against the current House "Trumpcare" bill. And champions like Elizabeth Warren are on fire as they make the case against this cruel and damaging bill.

Will you watch and share this incredible video of Elizabeth Warren laying out what's at stake as only she can—and demanding Republicans answer for this destructive plan?

Many MoveOn members and other progressives have spent decades advocating for high-quality, affordable health care for all Americans, and seven years ago we helped President Obama take a massive step toward that goal, with passage of the Affordable Care Act. (In fact, tomorrow is the seventh anniversary of the ACA, which is one reason some Republicans are eager to vote on repeal on that date.)

These next 10 days could be decisive for millions of us—and our friends, family members, and neighbors.

Click here to watch and share this videoand then let's do everything we can to stop Trumpcare from moving forward.

Thanks for all you do.

Call the Senate now: Stop Trump's Supreme Court nominee

No Supreme Court hearing while Trump is being investigated The confirmation hearing for Trump's ultra-right-wing Supreme Court nominee, Neil Gorsuch, began yesterday—the same day that we learned that Trump and his cronies have been under FBI investigation since July of 2016.

Dear MoveOn member,

The confirmation hearing for Trump’s ultra-right-wing Supreme Court nominee, Neil Gorsuch, began Monday—the same day that we learned that Trump and his cronies have been under FBI investigation since July of 2016. The Senate and House have a responsibility to stop the Trump presidency in its tracks until a full investigation reveals the extent of Trump's relationship with Russian efforts to meddle in our elections. That means no consideration of a Supreme Court justice.

Senate Democrats can—and they must—filibuster. If they don’t stop Gorsuch, the dangerous agenda of the Trump era won’t just last a few years—it will live on for decades on the Supreme Court. And as more comes out about Trump's relationship to Russia, it will be too late to reverse this appointment.

But right now, too many Senate Democrats aren't saying clearly that they'll do everything in their power to block Gorsuch. That’s why all Senate Democrats and Independents need to hear from their constituents today.

Will you pick up the phone and urge Senators Charles E. Schumer and Kirsten E. Gillibrand to filibuster Gorsuch?

Here's where to call:

  • Sen. Schumer - (202) 224-6542
  • Sen. Gillibrand - (202) 224-4451

When you call, say something like:

"I'm a constituent and a voter from New York, and I'm calling to urge Senators Charles E. Schumer and Kirsten E. Gillibrand to support a filibuster against Neil Gorsuch’s nomination to the Supreme Court while a cloud of criminal investigations hangs over Trump's ties to Russia. We can’t afford a Court that would codify Trump’s anti-woman, pro-business, anti-worker agenda."

After calling, click here to tell us how your call went.

Gorsuch is even more conservative than the late Justice Antonin Scalia.1 His track record as a judge makes clear that he consistently sided with corporations—over women, over workers, and over people in general. Look at his record:

  • He supported the Hobby Lobby decision, which allowed employers to prevent their employees’ health insurance from covering birth control—in the name of religious freedom.
  • He supported rulings that threaten the environment, American workers, and safe food and medicine.
  • He supported corporations over people by saying that it should be more difficult for consumers to sue large corporations for fraud and wrongdoing.

Gorsuch has opposed LGBTQ rights, civil rights, immigrants’ rights, and disability rights. His potential impact on the Supreme Court would be devastating. But many Senate Democrats have yet to announce whether they will support a filibuster. They’re under intense pressure to let him sail through: Republicans are flooding the airwaves with an eight-figure advertising campaign to lift up their nominee in states with vulnerable Democrats.2

It’s up to us to make sure they know that while special-interest money may side with Gorsuch, their constituents oppose him.

Will you pick up the phone and urge Senators Charles E. Schumer and Kirsten E. Gillibrand to filibuster Gorsuch?

Here's where to call:

  • Sen. Schumer - (202) 224-6542
  • Sen. Gillibrand - (202) 224-4451

Then, click here to report your call.

The early days of the Trump administration have already been filled with unconstitutional actions and attacks on an independent judiciary. And it seems very likely that significant parts of Trump’s agenda, such as his Muslim ban, will make it to the Supreme Court, where we need to ensure independent justices act as a block on his attacks against our communities and our Constitution.

And now, amidst more revelations about the investigation into Trump and Russia, it's imperative we put a stop to his nominations until a full investigation gets to the truth.

All Democrats and Independents need to say no to Trump's agenda, no to his nominee, and no to a right-wing Supreme Court, using every tool at their disposal, including the filibuster. This is the moment for the Democrats to stand strong. Make sure they hear from us and know we're watching.

Thanks for all you do.

Shut down and investigate Trump

Will you tell Congress to shut down all Trump-related appointments and legislation until the American people learn the truth about Trump and Russia?

Dear MoveOn member,

The New York Times just called it a "breathtaking admission."1

Yesterday, FBI Director James Comey confirmed that Donald Trump and his associates are subjects of an active criminal investigation regarding "possible connections between President Trump’s campaign and Russia’s efforts to sabotage" November's election—to benefit Trump.2

These allegations are remarkably serious. So serious that earlier today Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer stood on the floor of the U.S. Senate to call for a delay on the confirmation of Trump's Supreme Court nominee until Trump has been fully investigated.3 Will you sign the petition urging Congress to support both a special prosecutor and an independent investigation—and to pause all Trump-related appointments and legislation until Americans learn the full truth?

Congress must pause all Trump-related legislation and appointments—starting with a halt to Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch's confirmation process—until the American people learn the full truth about Trump and Russia.

How can Congress, in good conscience, agree to further Trump's agenda amid such serious allegations regarding possible illegal collusion with Russia? The answer is simple: It can't.

There's no other way to characterize this breaking news: The legitimacy of Trump's presidency and his entire administration is in question. And with so much yet unknown, Congress cannot consider Trump's agenda, especially the lifetime appointment of Neil Gorsuch.

That's why it's imperative that Congress halt every piece of the Trump agenda—and that the Senate heed Sen. Schumer's call to stop Supreme Court confirmation hearings—until a full and independent investigation has been conducted.

Deliver a simple three-word message to Congress: Shut it down.

Click here to add your name to this petition, and then pass it along to your friends.

Thanks for all you do.

Please read (Trump team is under criminal investigation)

Now that the head of the FBI has admitted that Trump and his associates are part of a criminal probe, we're demanding Democrats stand unified in the resistance and shut down the business of the Trump administration. Now that the head of the FBI has admitted that Trump and his associates are part of a criminal probe, we're demanding Democrats stand unified in the resistance and shut down the business of the Trump administration.

Dear MoveOn member,

Yesterday, FBI Director James Comey confirmed that Donald Trump and his associates are part of an ongoing criminal investigation having to do with their ties to Russia.1

Now, Republicans have a choice to make: appoint an independent commission to investigate Trump and Russia—or be complicit in a scandal that could be worse than Watergate. MoveOn members are demanding that Republicans do the right thing. And until they do, we're calling for Democrats to shut down ALL business—including Senate confirmation hearings for Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch. Are you in?

Yes! I'll chip in $3 to the emergency campaign to demand an independent commission to investigate Trump's Russia ties.

Every week, we hear more revelations about the Trump team's ties to Russian officials.

And yesterday, we learned that Trump and his associates are actively embroiled in a criminal probe. Some Republicans have talked a big game about Trump and Russia. They've made noise about subpoenas and demanding documents.2 But so far, it's all just talk. Not one Republican has voted for an independent commission to investigate the Trump team's Russian entanglements or Russia's influence on our election.

MoveOn members have been demanding an independent commission (like the one that was created after 9/11) for weeks—and we've supported efforts in the House and Senate to pursue it. But now that the head of the FBI has confirmed that Trump and his associates are part of a criminal probe, this takes on increasing urgency and importance.

Will you chip in $3—and support our campaign to demand the truth about Trump and Russia?

Yes, I'll chip in and demand an independent investigation into Trump and Russia.

MoveOn has an ambitious plan to keep this story in the public eye and keep the pressure on Congress to act—until the American people know the truth:

  • Create rapid response videos. We've already had millions of views on videos we've produced about Mike Flynn, Jeff Sessions, Steve Bannon, and the question of what Trump knew and when he knew it. Now we'll produce videos asking Republicans "When will you take your head out of the sand?"—and demanding an independent commission to investigate Trump's ties to Russia.
  • Get every single Republican on the record. We helped generate 850,000 petition signatures to support the effort by Representative Jerry Nadler in the House to get the House Judiciary Committee to vote for an investigation. Every Republican refused. We're going to support efforts to introduce similar measures in committee after committee until EVERY single Republican is on the record. The public needs to know who's for (and against) pursuing the truth, wherever it may lead. We'll track these votes publicly and make them electoral issues in the next election.
  • Show up in person. Members of Congress are coming home in just a few weeks for their April recess. We will meet them with town halls, outside their offices, and at every public event—and we'll stream key encounters over live video, so that every Republican will be asked to support investigations or be revealed as a supporter of Trump's cover-up.

Can you chip in $3 and support MoveOn's campaign for an independent investigation into the Trump administration's Russia ties?

Yes, I'll chip in to help demand an independent investigation.

We're calling on Democrats to stand unified in the resistance and to shut down the business of the Trump administration until this investigation is conducted thoroughly. That means no nominations. No legislation. Full resistance.

But we must also demand that Republicans stop talking big—and actually get in the game. They have the power to launch an independent investigation and give the American people a shot at uncovering the truth. If Republicans won't rise to the challenge, then it's our job to demand that Democrats grind Senate business to a halt.

Can you pitch in $3 now and help MoveOn demand that Republicans get on board with a real, independent investigation into Trump's Russia ties?

Yes, I'll chip in and demand an independent investigation.

Thanks for all you do.
