Join me in fighting for our democracy

Dear fellow MoveOn member,

I live in Prescott, AZ, and I'm a retired building contractor. I've been a MoveOn member since 2004 and made over 500 phone calls to "call for change" in the 2006 elections.

For years I've believed our system of campaign financing leads to corruption, so I was delighted when MoveOn launched the Fight Washington Corruption campaign to take on the big corporations who seem to be running Washington, DC. I'm hosting a rally here in Prescott in front of Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick's office to ask her if she will stand with us, the Other 98% of Americans who don't have corporate lobbyists in Washington.

Will you take that same important step and host a rally in your community outside Rep. Carolyn McCarthy's office in Garden City on Tuesday, August 10? Click here to get started:

Why did I decide to host this rally? Because we need a massive groundswell of community support to loosen the stranglehold that corporations have on our democracy, before that stranglehold becomes so complete that it is irreversible.

If not now, when? When will we reclaim our power and sweep Congress clean of the politicians who take their marching orders—and donations—from big business? When will we take big money out of our election campaigns so we can elect men and women who are first and foremost accountable to us...We the People?

To get our Prescott rally posted in MoveOn's online tool, I simply clicked on a link in an email like this one and followed the step-by-step directions—it was that simple. Will you take that same first step, and join me in sending a loud and clear message to Congress on Tuesday, August 10? Click here to get started:

From one MoveOn member to another—thanks for all you do,

–Bill Swahlen, Prescott, AZ
