Which non-profits should we help?

Know of a great organization helping people in these hard economic times? Think it would be a good group for MoveOn members to support? Click below to nominate a group for our end-of-the-year giving campaign today:

Nominate a group

Dear MoveOn member,

Families in line at food pantries. Foreclosure signs on lawns. People living on the street in freezing temperatures. And one in 10 people unable to find work.

The economic crisis in our country is appalling. So this holiday season, as a community, we'll be asking MoveOn members to donate to organizations that help those suffering the most. And it's up to you and other MoveOn members to decide which ones.

Do you know of a great organization that's helping people during these times of economic crisis and could use our support? It could be providing food, shelter, clothes or other direct services, or it could be organizing to push Congress to create more jobs and fund more affordable housing—or helping in any number of other ways. This could be a group you know of because of their good works, or one that you're part of yourself.

If you do, please nominate that group to be part of MoveOn's end-of-the-year giving campaign today. Just click here to get started:

The deadline for nominations is Tuesday, December 21st, at 9 a.m. EST. After nominations are submitted, MoveOn members will vote on which organizations to promote to the entire MoveOn membership for an end-of-the-year fundraiser. Voting will open on December 22nd—keep an eye out for an email announcement, and for details on how to vote.

It's up to you who to nominate, with a few guidelines. Given the severity of the economic crisis,  all nominations must be non-profit groups focused on causes, consequences, and solutions relating to the economic crisis. They could be groups that provide direct services—like housing for homeless individuals and families, help for the unemployed, or food assistance—or they could be organizations that help through public education, research, or advocacy on these issues.

There are an incredible number of fantastic organizations helping people across the country. Can you nominate a group that you think other MoveOn members should support? Just click here:

Thanks for all you do.
