Dear Rebuild the Dream member, After President Obama's speech last week, Washington is suddenly focused on the jobs crisis that we've all been watching unfold in our communities. And while President Obama's plan is a good start, it won't be nearly enough to solve this crisis. So the leaders of the Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC) are taking advantage of the renewed focus on jobs to propose a plan that could solve the crisis.
Echoing the call that hundreds of thousands of us made in endorsing the Contract for the American Dream this summer, the CPC now has a "Rebuild the American Dream Framework." At its heart is Representative Jan Schakowsky's plan to put 2.2 million Americans back to work teaching our children, policing our streets, and rebuilding our infrastructure, by asking millionaires and corporations to pay their fair share. The most important message we can send Congress right now is that they need to pass the president's jobs bill, and then go further. The crisis we face demands no less. And the best way to send that message is to get a huge number of Representatives to co-sponsor Rep. Schakowsky's bill. Rep. McCarthy hasn't signed on to Rep. Schakowsky's jobs bill.
