Sign this petition re: fracking in Chaco Canyon

We must protect Chaco Canyon. It is a sacred ancestral home for the Hopi, Navajo, and Pueblo people.

Dear fellow MoveOn member,

As an anthropologist, educator, humanist, member of the El Dorado County Indian Council, Inc., and 75-year-old citizen of this country, I have spent my entire adult life involved in teaching students and others the value of protecting Native American rights, culture, and prehistory. Fracking is one of the most destructive means of assault on our environment, and it will surely destroy Chaco Canyon and other National Parks if it is allowed to continue and expand.

Sign this petition protecting Chaco Canyon, which is a truly perishable natural resource and one of the finest examples of the architecture and prehistory of Native Americans. Fracking in these types of places is unacceptable.

Chaco Canyon is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In addition, it is a sacred ancestral home for the Hopi, Navajo, and Pueblo people. Oil and gas developments across the region are threatening the landscapes, cultural resources, and living native communities while ignoring federal law. We cannot let this stand.
