Tomorrow: MoveOn's membership-wide endorsement vote

We are launching a formal presidential endorsement vote!

This is a big decision: Should MoveOn endorse a candidate in the Democratic presidential primary? Cast your vote now.

Dear MoveOn member,

The 2020 presidential election is 130 days away (not that we're counting!) and we want to give the millions of MoveOn members across the country a chance to weigh in on the Democratic presidential nomination prior to the August convention. We will soon launch a formal endorsement vote to determine whether you believe MoveOn should endorse Joe Biden and campaign to help get him elected as the next President of the United States.

This decision is in your hands. MoveOn endorses candidates for office only by a vote of MoveOn members. It's who we are.

A key reason MoveOn exists is to elevate people's voices in our democracy, which has been rigged by the undue influence of big money and powerful interests—and that's exactly what this vote is about. If there is substantial alignment among members, we will endorse and do everything in our power to help Joe Biden become the next president of the United States.

Visit our endorsement website to learn more about the 2020 presidential endorsement process.

The rules for MoveOn's 2020 endorsement vote follow.

Rules:

1. Voting is open to anyone who has become a MoveOn member by June 25. While any person may cast a ballot, only the votes of MoveOn members prior to the start of the vote will be counted. The MoveOn membership includes everyone who has opted in to receive emails or text messages from MoveOn.

2. Voting will open Friday, June 26, and close the following Tuesday, June 30, at noon ET. Check your email and text messages tomorrow for your official ballot.

3. This is a big decision, and one thing we've heard loud and clear from MoveOn members is that it's important for us to stand together. To win the 2020 presidential endorsement of MoveOn members, a candidate must earn a supermajority—66.67%—of votes cast. If a candidate doesn't hit that threshold, we won't make an official endorsement.

4. We'll announce the results the following week after a secure confirmation of the ballots cast.

No matter the outcome of the vote, we've heard loud and clear that MoveOn members of all stripes want us to work to help the Democratic nominee in defeating Donald Trump and getting him out of the White House—and we'll do that.

How to Vote:

If you already regularly receive emails or text messages from MoveOn, you are a member and eligible to vote. You will receive a ballot via email and/or SMS when voting starts.

When MoveOn members voted to endorse Barack Obama in 2008, we went all in to help him make it to the White House. A MoveOn endorsement means votes, volunteers, fundraising, and enthusiasm heading into the fall, just months away.

Please be on the lookout for your ballot on Friday, June 26!

Thanks for all you do.
