You're invited: Take action to impeach Trump

Join a nearby event on the day of action calling for an impeachment inquiry against Trump.

Dear MoveOn member,

Can you join a local event near you on or around Saturday, June 15, to declare: It's time for Congress to impeach Trump?

Donald Trump and his administration have committed countless abuses of power—trampling the rights of communities across America and trampling the Constitution.

We are seeing more and more prominent political voices speaking up for Congress to begin an impeachment inquiry, and this week we crossed 60 representatives who have called for one.1 And that's why the time is now to push every member of Congress to act on behalf of constituents, country, and Constitution and begin impeachment now.

On Saturday, June 15, and on the days immediately before and after, across the country, MoveOn, By the People, and over 20 allies will be gathering for local events to demand impeachment. These events will be public, visible, family-friendly gatherings to engage and educate our communities about impeachment and demand Congress stop waiting and take action.

Click now to pledge to take action and to find whether there is already an action near you. (If you don't see one, you can host your own, and MoveOn staff, partners, and volunteers will support you every step of the way and recruit folks to join you at this important event.)

MoveOn members called for impeachment nearly two years ago—but this is the first time we're hosting events all across the country centered on that demand. In some ways, this is the right moment, as more members of Congress wake up to the need to act. In some ways, it's long overdue, when you look at the track record of this administration.

Torturing and traumatizing children at the border. Politicizing pardons to encourage law-breaking. Decisions to enrich himself and his family—at the expense of taxpayers and those in critical need. Incitement to violence with religious discrimination, bigotry, and embrace of white supremacists. Playing games with national security. And that's even before we mention the Mueller report.

The Trump administration's recent obstruction around the Mueller report and in defiance of congressional subpoenas—on top of nearly a dozen episodes of obstruction detailed in Mueller's findings, as well as countless pages detailing contact between Trump's team and Russian operatives—has led to a surge of members of Congress, Democratic leaders, presidential hopefuls, and even Republicans to call for the House of Representatives to open an impeachment inquiry—a formal process that could unearth the truth behind Trump's crimes and abuses and lead to his impeachment.

A few weeks ago, MoveOn and nearly a dozen allies delivered over 10 million petition signatures to Representatives Tlaib and Green. And now we're building on that by taking our advocacy for impeachment offline in communities around the country. Over twenty organizations are participating in the day of action, including Indivisible, CREDO, Need to Impeach, the Center for Popular Democracy, and By the People.

Here's the vicious cycle we're in: Members of Congress feel they don't have constituent support to call for impeachment. As a result, congressional leadership is tamping down impeachment talk and pushing for further investigations, but the Trump administration is stonewalling straightforward requests (such as for the full Mueller report!), and without further information, members of Congress feel they can't change their position. But the need and the demand for impeachment are already out there, and the more people learn about Trump's abuses, the more they'll come around. We can break the logjam by showing our elected officials that we will stand with them in holding Trump accountable.

So join us on June 15, and on the days immediately before and after, at local actions across the country—some with champions who support impeachment, some demanding more action from Democrats and Republicans alike—as we fight for our communities and our country.

Thanks for all you do.
