Blue wave?

To take back the House, we need to win by ELEVEN points. That's brutally unfair, but it's our reality. And, with a 12-point lead right now, we are within 1 or 2 points of meeting that goal—or falling short. What we do—or don't do—will make a huge difference.

Hi, MoveOn member!

This is Robert Fox, MoveOn's Chief Operating Officer. I don't write to you very often, but we have an unprecedented opportunity right now, and I need your help to seize it. So I hope you'll read this message.

Recent polls have Democrats ahead by a whopping 12 points in the generic ballot.1 And in many races across the country, bold and diverse progressive candidates are challenging incumbents. It's incredibly inspiring.

But there's a problem—and it's a huge one: To end Republican control of the House, it looks as though Democrats need to win the national popular vote by at least 11 points.2

Yes, you read that right. Because of Republican gerrymandering, the AP reports that "to win a majority in the U.S. House of Representatives, Democrats would need a tremendous electoral wave not seen in more than 40 years to overcome Republican advantages from gerrymandered districts in key states."3

As you read this message, we are preparing to run the biggest midterm election program in MoveOn's 20-year history. That's why I'm asking you directly:

Will you chip in $5 a month, so that we can finally put a check on Donald Trump and end Republican control of the House this November?

Yes, I'll chip in monthly to help MoveOn end Republican control of Congress and put a check on Donald Trump.

(The best way to help MoveOn run the biggest midterm election program in our 20-year history is to click here now and become a committed monthly donor. But even if you can't chip in monthly, then please click here right now, because MoveOn needs your help.)

Poll numbers for Democrats have been consistently climbing over the past few weeks. That increases the odds that we can make a decisive difference—electing bold, inspiring, and diverse candidates—and take back the House.

But remember: To take back the House, we need to win by ELEVEN points.4 That's brutally unfair, but it's our reality. And, with a 12-point lead right now, we are within 1 or 2 points of meeting that goal—or falling short. What we do—or don't do—will make a huge difference. That's why I'm asking for your help today.

To win this fall, we will have to beat Trump's propaganda machine. We have a cutting-edge program to do just that with both old-fashioned shoe leather and social media, and I want to ensure that it's fully funded.

We can expect billionaires such as the Koch brothers to pour as much money as possible into races across the country to keep Republicans in power. We can't match that funding one-to-one, but we don't have to. Because no matter how much money the GOP pours into races, they cannot match our grassroots organizing.

But to stay on track with our field organizing program, we DO need to hit our grassroots fundraising goals. That's why I'm asking:

Will you chip in $5 a month, so that MoveOn begins August in a strong position to run the largest midterm elections program in our 20-year history?

Yes, I'll chip in monthly to help MoveOn run its largest midterm elections program ever.

No, I'm sorry, I can't chip in monthly.

I know it's still summer, and Election Day may seem very far away, but the reality is that every day from now until Election Day will be more intense than the last, with critical expenses for me to approve. Your support will help determine how many volunteers we can recruit, how many events we can plan, and how much support we can give to candidates.

And on top of our elections work, I need your help to continue all of our critical work to block Trump's Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh, and to ensure that we are ready to act on any number of emergencies that will come out of the Trump White House.

So I hate to ask so strongly, but this is too important of an election not to give it our all, and we're entering our final sprint. If you have been waiting for the moment to get off the sidelines, a monthly donation is a great way to get involved right now. And if you've been an active supporter, I'm grateful, and I hope that you'll consider making your support monthly, so that we have the resources we need to win.

Will you please chip in $5 a month, or whatever you can afford, so that MoveOn can run the largest midterm elections program in our 20-year history?

Yes, I'll chip in monthly to help MoveOn run its largest midterm elections program ever.

No, I'm sorry, I can't chip in monthly.

Thanks for all you do.

100

In 100 days, we head to the polls for the first national election since Trump took office. In 100 days, we have a chance to end GOP control of the House and elect a bold, energetic new generation of progressives to Congress and state and local governments.

Dear MoveOn member,

100 days.

In 100 days, we head to the polls for the first national election since Trump took office. In 100 days, we have a chance to end GOP control of the House and elect a bold, energetic new generation of progressives to Congress and state and local governments. In 100 days, we can create a genuine check on the toxic Trump Republican agenda that has only worsened an already-rigged system and has unleashed a constant flood of attacks on communities of color—including Muslims and immigrants.

In 100 days, we can make history together.

MoveOn members are already fueling this big blue wave—through special elections across the country, supporting dynamic candidates in primaries, hosting early actions to mobilize volunteers, and building the infrastructure to win on November 6.

In fact, as of today, we have already endorsed 100 candidates—as part of our plan to endorse 100 U.S. House candidates to end GOP control of Congress and 100 state and local candidates to build a long-term progressive movement of leaders across the country.

Here's a little bit about our first 100 endorsed candidates who, in 100 days, will be part of the blue wave that will transform this country:

  • These 100 candidates look more like America than today's Congress. Seventy percent of them are women and 60% people of color, and they bring with them insights and experiences that will ensure all our communities are represented in the halls of power. They come from walks of life that will fill Congress and state offices with new ideas and perspectives.
Lauren Underwood - Illinois' 14th Congressional District: Lauren is a registered nurse, with hands-on experience in America's health care industry. She was appointed by President Obama to serve as a senior adviser at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, where she helped implement the Affordable Care Act, broadening access for those on Medicare, improving health care quality and reforming private insurance.
Gina Ortiz Jones - Texas' 23rd Congressional District: Gina has dedicated her life to public service. She is a veteran, a member of the LGBTQ community, and a first-generation American. Gina would bring a unique perspective in Congress that's sorely missing and fight for progressive values such as health care for all and a fair and humane immigration system.

Rashida Tlaib - Michigan's 13th Congressional District: Rashida is a lifelong Detroit resident and daughter of Palestinian immigrants. She made history in 2008 by becoming the first Muslim woman ever elected to the Michigan House of Representatives, where she secured funding for free health clinics and education and championed legislation to protect homeowners from fraudulent mortgage bankers. She's also a fighter. Rashida took on the Koch brothers and forced them to reduce pollution on Detroit's riverfront. And when Donald Trump came to speak in Detroit in 2016, she was one of a dozen women who were arrested for protesting his sexism and bigotry.

Ammar Campa Najjar - California's 50th Congressional District: The son of a Mexican-American mother and a Middle Eastern immigrant father, Ammar was raised in San Diego and spent four years of his youth living in Gaza. Ammar is a staunch advocate for Medicare for All, unions, and for programs to support small businesses owned by minorities, women, immigrants, and veterans. Ammar's experience in Gaza, where he witnessed war and poverty, emboldened him to become a strong supporter of peace and economic justice.

Felicia French for Arizona Felicia French - Arizona State House District 6. Felicia is a third-generation Arizonian, retired U.S. Army colonel, former medical evacuation helicopter pilot, Afghan war veteran, senior medical adviser, and an educator. She wants to help reform Arizona by advancing education for all, promoting sustainable economic growth, and banning the sale of assault weapons.
Rachel Crooks - Ohio State House District 88: Rachel is a millennial woman running for office for the first time. She has spent the past decade working in higher education, assisting international students in local universities. The experience has been transformative for her, as she now firmly believes that "when we learn about others, we also learn about ourselves." Rachel is one of the 19 courageous women who came out during the 2016 election to accuse then-candidate Donald Trump of sexual misconduct.
Everton Blair - Georgia Gwinnett County Board of Education: Everton is a graduate of the Gwinnett County school system and a former AP calculus and geometry teacher. Everton has worked with superintendents and education leaders across the country on local, state, and federal education policy, giving him a unique perspective to address the issues facing students in Gwinnett County's public schools. If elected in November, Everton would be the first person of color and the youngest person ever elected to the Gwinnett County Board of Education.
Cara McClure - Alabama Public Service Commissioner: Cara is a single mom, has been homeless, and has been a frontline activist for her community in Birmingham. She is the founder of Black Lives Matter Birmingham. Public Service commissioners supervise and regulate the state's electricity, gas, water, railroad, and telecommunications companies. As Cara has said, "it's very expensive to be poor," and she's running for this position because people shouldn't have to decide between paying their utility bill or buying groceries or medicine. If elected, she would be the first Black person ever to serve on Alabama's Public Service Commission.
Beto O'Rouke - Texas' U.S. Senate: A native of El Paso and a fourth-generation Texan, Beto was elected to represent his hometown and the 16th District in the U.S. House in 2012, winning in a race against an eight-term incumbent. Now he's got Ted Cruz on his heels as his inspiring campaign picks up momentum. Beto is running a campaign that rejects all PAC donations and has been a leader on standing up to the horrific injustice of the Trump administration's immigration policies.
  • These 100 candidates are running on bold ideas. Ideas that could unrig the system, creating a fairer and more just country for us all. The vision that health care is a human right, proposals for a federal jobs guarantee, the demand to transform the criminal justice system, the call to legalize marijuana, proposals to respect all immigrants and end ICE's reign of terror, breaking up big banks and other monopolies, divesting from fossil fuels—ideas that in Congress, state legislatures, and local councils could transform America.

  • These 100 candidates are upsetting conventional wisdom and winning. Our challenger candidates have already been defeating establishment incumbents in the primaries.
Alexandria Ocasio Cortez made national news in her insurgent and inspirational primary victory for New York's 14th Congressional District in Queens. MoveOn was one of only a handful of national organizations to endorse her campaign, after members in NY-14 overwhelmingly voted to support her.

Ram Villivalam (left) who ran for state Senate and Brandon Johnson (right) who ran for Cook County Commission are both union organizers and won their competitive Illinois primaries against the local political machine.

Summer Lee (left) and Sara Innamorato (right), both proud Democratic Socialists, ran for Pennsylvania state House, defeating longtime incumbents.
  • These 100 candidates can win. Many of our Democratic challengers have outraised their Republican incumbents. All of our candidates are motivating volunteers in huge numbers—and it's still early in the cycle. And as MoveOn members support these candidates with time, funds, technical support, and more, we all are fueling a blue wave.

There are still 100 days until Election Day—and anything can happen. We can't take anything for granted. Big Money is against us. The power of incumbency is against us. Trump, McConnell, and the Republican corporate donors will take unprecedented action to retain power.

But we know that people power can prevail.

And for the sake of our country, we must prevail. We need elected officials who will stop the attacks on our health care, will stop the egregious giveaways to Trump's corporate backers, will hold accountable a corrupt administration and Cabinet, and will demand answers from those who have abused children and families through the cruel family separation policy.

We are inspired by the 100 candidates MoveOn members have endorsed so far—and excited to endorse 100 more. And we're even more excited to ramp up our work—knocking on doors, getting out the vote, and marching to the ballot box in 100 days.

You can see the full list of candidates MoveOn has endorsed so far this year here.

And if you're inspired to help make sure we elect these visionary leaders in 100 days, you can click here to chip in.

Thanks for all you do.

Terrible news: Massive voter purges

Terrible news: A shocking new report finds that 16 million voters were purged from the voter rolls before the 2016 election. And an aggressive new round of voter purges in advance of the 2018 election could cost us control of Congress this November.

Dear MoveOn member,

Terrible news: A shocking new report finds that 16 million voters were purged from the voter rolls before the 2016 election.1 And an aggressive new round of voter purges in advance of the 2018 election could cost us control of Congress this November.

The study, conducted by the non-partisan Brennan Center for Justice, finds that voter purges have skyrocketed since 2013, when the Supreme Court gutted the Voting Rights Act.2 Millions of voters, including disproportionate numbers of Black and Latino voters, have simply been wiped from the rolls.3

We can't let Republicans steal yet another election. MoveOn is organizing our largest midterm voter mobilization effort ever to make sure that people are registered and able to cast their ballots on Election Day, and we need to act quickly to make sure that voters hear from us in time. Will you chip in $3?

Yes, I'll chip in to help stop GOP's voter suppression and end Republican control of Congress.

In Georgia, Republican Secretary of State Brian Kemp removed nearly 600,000 registered voters from the rolls this year.4 Ohio Secretary of State, Republican Jon Husted, has disenfranchised 2 million people since 2011, and when the Supreme Court told him to stop, he simply ordered county officials to restart the purges.5 It's the same story in state after state.

Voter purges aren't the only kind of voter suppression that we're facing this year. Of the 60 seats most likely to flip from red to blue this fall, more than half are in states with voter ID laws that make it harder for low-income and people of color to vote.6,7

We clearly can't count on the Supreme Court to defend the rights of voters—they're the ones who gutted the Voting Rights Act in the first place. And with Republicans in control of the process in so many of the states where the outcome of the election will be decided, we have to win with good old-fashioned shoe leather: registering voters who might have been dropped from the rolls and then reminding them to get out and vote in November.

MoveOn has launched the biggest midterm Get Out the Vote effort in our 20-year history to stop GOP voter suppression from stealing this election and to help elect bold, progressive leaders to Congress. But with just 101 days to go until Election Day, we're counting on your help to finance this effort. Will you chip in $3?

Yes, I'll chip in to fight back against GOP's voter suppression and end Republican control Congress.

Thanks for all you do.

I'm hosting a Resist & Win Potluck for MoveOn members like you

There's one in your community too.

Dear Eddie,

My name is Jessie, and I'm a college student, a trainee social worker, and a MoveOn Resist & Win Leader. This weekend, I'm hosting not one but two Resist & Win Community Potlucks. Folks like you and me will be coming together with our neighbors, sharing a meal, and making plans to help end Republican control of the House.

I live about an hour from Salt Lake City, and I'm co-hosting a potluck there. But I'm also hosting one in Provo, a smaller town closer to me. There are progressives in towns and cities across the country who are ready to organize and fight back against Trump's attacks on our communities. And what better way to kick off our organizing from now until November 6 than by breaking bread together?

There's a Resist & Win Community Potluck near you in Brooklyn. Can you make it?

WHERE: My driveway (in Brooklyn)
WHEN: Sunday, July 29, 11:00 AM
WHAT: Connect with MoveOn Members near you at a Resist & Win Community Potluck!

Most of the time, when I go to rallies and protests, I head to Salt Lake City, where I joined thousands of other MoveOn members at the Families Belong Together marches last month. That incredible mobilization reminded me that even in dark times, there's still hope. Millions of people are fired up, and not just in big cities like Salt Lake City, either. In supposedly conservative suburbs like Provo and small towns like Turlock, MoveOn members are coming together this weekend and next week. And I hope you'll join us.

Click here to RSVP for your nearest potluck in Brooklyn.

See you in the streets—but first, I hope, at a potluck.

Your fellow MoveOn member,
–Jessie H.

Re: Stacey Abrams

Stacey Abrams is a terrific candidate, and she'll be an even better governor—but we all need to get in this fight to make sure she's able to keep building an unbeatable grassroots team.

Dear MoveOn member,

Democrat Stacey Abrams is INCREDIBLE—and she has a real shot at getting elected Governor of Georgia. And when she does, she'll make history by being elected our country's first African American woman governor, EVER.

The national Republicans and their powerful friends know that Stacey can win—and they're terrified of it. Donald Trump has been tweeting up a storm about her opponent. And coming out of Tuesday's Republican runoff election in Georgia, the party's attacks against her are getting more and more vicious.

Oh boy. In a fight with Stacey Abrams, they're way out of their league.

Will you chip in $3, or whatever you can afford, to support Stacey Abrams' campaign for governor?

Yes, I'll chip in right now to help Stacey Abrams win.

I'm fired up to fight for Stacey Abrams. Like me, she didn't grow up wealthy or well-connected. She's the daughter of a librarian and a shipyard worker. She's never shied away from a tough fight.

As the top Democrat in the Georgia House, she fought to level the playing fields for women, students, seniors, veterans, and working people. I know that as governor, Stacey Abrams will build a Georgia where more families can get ahead.

Stacey Abrams is a terrific candidate, and she'll be an even better governor—but we all need to get in this fight to make sure she's able to keep building an unbeatable grassroots team.

Please, click here to chip in $3 right now to help Stacey Abrams fight back, win, make history, and get things done for Georgia's working families.

Thanks for being a part of this.

Have a petition idea for Inwood?

Petitions are powerful. Start a petition today to make your voice heard.

Dear fellow MoveOn member,

I didn't know the power of petitions until I started creating them. They have helped me build real-world people power that helped save a few local families from being broken apart by Trump's deportation machine.

Click here to create your own petition to build power and support an issue, a person, or a group of people you care about in Inwood, or anywhere else in the country.

Here's one quick story:

We had 2 1/2 days. On a cold Saturday in November, 2017, we were asked to help a member of our community, Miriam Martinez-Lemus, avoid deportation before she was to board a plane for Guatemala and leave her daughter—who has diabetes and is a citizen of the United States—to fend for herself. Miriam's daughter's doctors said the medical system in Guatemala was not equipped to care for a child with complicated juvenile diabetes.

We immediately launched a MoveOn petition—signed by more than 10,000 MoveOn members like you—that lifted up Miriam's story, attracted media attention, and helped us mobilize dozens of people to a local demonstration and a vigil, which were also covered by local media.

And we won. The MoveOn petition effectively helped build the people power we needed to keep Miriam where she belonged—with her family.

By using MoveOn's user-friendly petition tools, you can create your very own petition.

Do you have any ideas for a petition for Inwood or nationwide that could build power on an issue you care about? Click here to start building power with your petition.

I know from personal experience that the MoveOn team will be there to support you, from helping build support for your petition by connecting you to other MoveOn members to reimbursing you for printing costs to deliver your petition in person—one of the best ways to get your message heard and make an impact.

Will you start a petition right now on an issue that you're passionate about that affects your community, or even the entire nation?

Thanks for all you do.

Last week, a brightly colored banner reading "Save Roe, Stop Kavanaugh," was hung out of an apartment window in Washington, D.C. across the street from the MLB All-Star game. It got a ton of attention, including on national TV, in part because one of the attendees of the game was Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh himself.

Dear MoveOn member,

Last week, a brightly colored banner reading "Save Roe, Stop Kavanaugh," was hung out of an apartment window in Washington, D.C. across the street from the MLB All-Star game. It got a ton of attention, including on national TV, in part because one of the attendees of the game was Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh himself.1

Which got us thinking: What if we gave "Save Roe, Stop Kavanaugh" banners to MoveOn members across Maine and Alaska, so Senators Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski are met with them at every turn when they're home for August recess? Both states are made up of small cities and towns, where banners popping up all over would get noticed.

Will you chip in $3 now to help create and distribute "Save Roe, Stop Kavanaugh" banners to thousands of MoveOn members across Maine and Alaska in time to greet the senators when they go home for August recess? If we can raise the money to cover the costs, we'll create a sea of these banners across the two states that Senators Collins and Murkowski cannot ignore.

Yes, I'm in! I'll chip in now.

Legal experts agree that Kavanaugh "already has one of the clearest records against Roe vs. Wade of any recent Supreme Court nominee."2 If he's confirmed, he's expected to be the fifth vote—all men—to end Roe v. Wade, criminalizing abortion and punishing women.3

Kavanaugh praised the late Chief Justice William Rehnquist's dissent in Roe and later abortion cases.4 He ruled last year against a young immigrant woman in detention obtaining an abortion.5 And he's made clear in his decisions that he's not deferential to precedents even more settled than Roe.6

The future of safe, legal abortion is in Sens. Collins and Murkowski's hands—and both women have said that they support a woman's right to control her own body.

We can stop Kavanaugh's confirmation, but it's going to take all of us coming together to make it happen. He's already more unpopular than Robert Bork.7 And we only need one Republican—Sen. Collins or Murkowski—to oppose his nomination if the Democrats all stick together.

Are you in? Click here to chip in $3 now to help get "Save Roe, Stop Kavanaugh" banner flying high on thousands of houses, office buildings, stores, and even places of worship—sending a crystal clear message to the senators about just how much is at stake as they travel around their states.

Deep-pocketed conservatives backing Kavanaugh are spending millions of dollars on TV ads, online ads, and billboards.8 But they can't match us on true grassroots efforts. Banners like this will be much more persuasive in showing senators where actual constituents stand on Kavanaugh—and in rural communities where billboards are rare, banners will be far more visible.

You might hear pundits say Kavanaugh's nomination will be hard to stop, but remember they said the same thing about Trump's repeated efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act.

Because millions of us raised our voices, we beat the odds and blocked Trumpcare. Now we need to do it again.

All of this takes major resources, and we didn't budget for this new idea of local banners.

Can you chip in $3 to bring "Save Roe, Stop Kavanaugh" banners to the states on the frontlines of this fight?

Thanks for all you do.

Sign the petition: These farm workers are suffering

Soaring temperatures in outdoor work will make thousands of Americans seriously ill this summer. Heat stress can result in heat exhaustion, heat stroke, and even death.

Dear MoveOn member,

Soaring temperatures in outdoor work will make thousands of Americans seriously ill this summer. Heat stress can result in heat exhaustion, heat stroke, and even death. Climate change is rapidly increasing this hazard for U.S. workers, and yet there are no national protections in place to prevent this growing occupational danger.

In California, we dealt with this problem by helping to establish the first permanent outdoor heat regulations in the nation. In 2015, we were able to improve these regulations to protect even more workers.1 Now we need to bring the rest of the country in line to protect outdoor workers.

Tell the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to implement a national heat stress standard requiring employers to protect workers from extreme heat.

Implement a federal heat stress standard for outdoor and indoor workers in all industries so that workers are protected from dangerous heat on the job.

In the absence of national protections, three states have implemented some form of protective heat standards for their workers. It's time to catch up and issue a federal standard that protects workers from heat stress.

In recent years, record-high temperatures have been seen across the country. But many states don't have adequate laws to protect their workers. Workers often suffer from heat exhaustion, which can escalate to heat stroke and even death. And this danger is increasing rapidly with climate change.

The solution is simple: Heat illness can be prevented by access to water, shade, and rest breaks. But many employers won't provide these basic needs voluntarily. In Sunnyside, WA, dairy workers dealt with temperatures ranging from 97° to 105° for days.2 Dairy workers work year-round, day and night, regardless of weather.

Many employers deny workers these basic needs—putting countless people at risk every summer. Some may even die. Take action now before any more lives are lost by signing this petition to OSHA.

Click here to add your name to this petition, and then pass it along to your friends.

Thanks!

I am one of only 38

This year, we have a chance to elect a Congress that more than ever before looks like our diverse, progressive communities—and one that will serve as a true firewall against Trump and his toxic agenda.

Dear MoveOn member,

Of the 535 members of Congress, I am one of only 38 women of color.1

Sometimes, I am still taken aback by how small that number is. But when I look at the slate of incredible progressive candidates running for office this year, I am so optimistic about what we can accomplish—and soon!

Two of those inspiring candidates, Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar, have elections coming up in the next few weeks.

There are at least 3 million Muslim Americans across the country, but not a single Muslim woman has ever been elected to Congress. Rashida and Ilhan can change that and would be leaders in the fight against Donald Trump and to build a country that is welcoming for everyone, from day one. But in order to do so, they need your help.

Will you chip in $3 right now to help fuel Rashida and Ilhan's campaigns to victory next month?

Yes, I'll chip in right now.

Both Rashida and Ilhan have incredible stories, and they are exactly the leaders we need right now.

Rashida is a lifelong Detroit resident and daughter of Palestinian immigrants. She made history in 2008 by becoming the first Muslim woman ever elected to the Michigan House of Representatives, where she secured funding for free health clinics and education and championed legislation to protect homeowners from fraudulent mortgage bankers.2,3

She's also a fighter. Rashida took on the Koch brothers and forced them to reduce pollution on Detroit's riverfront.4 And when Donald Trump came to speak in Detroit in 2016, she was one of a dozen women who were arrested for protesting his sexism and bigotry.

Ilhan was born in Somalia, and her family fled the country's civil war when she was eight years old. She got her start in politics at age 14 interpreting for her grandfather at local Democratic Party meetings, and she's been an organizer ever since.5

In 2016, Ilhan made history by becoming the first Somali American ever elected to a state legislature after running an inspiring campaign that increased voter turnout by 37% in her district.6 She's already become the assistant minority leader in the Minnesota Legislature.

I would be so proud to serve with these two women in Congress. Click here now to chip in $3 to their campaigns, so they have the resources to win their elections and make history in a few short weeks.

Since Trump was elected, communities across the country have been under attack, from the Muslim Ban to the humanitarian crisis at our border to the rise and increased acceptance of white supremacists by this administration and the Republican Party to attacks on women's rights and the LGBTQ community.

It is absolutely essential that we rise up together not only to protect our communities but to also elect people from the different communities to help lead the fight against these destructive forces. It is only through organizing, visibility, and representation that we can make transformative change.

This year, we have a chance to elect a Congress that more than ever before looks like our diverse, progressive communities—and one that will serve as a true firewall against Trump and his toxic agenda.

Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar can and should be two of those new leaders. Click here right now to chip in $3 to help these powerhouse women join me in Congress.

Thanks for all you do.

Putin Republicans

This is a clear moment that demands a reaction from every member of Congress—and especially from Republicans who have enabled Trump for too long. And it's a critical moment for MoveOn members to take action.

Dear MoveOn member,

Putin Republicans.

That's what we're calling Republicans who won't hold Donald Trump accountable for his craven, reckless, betrayal of American democracy in Helsinki. Putin Republicans are those who continue to defend Trump the way he defended Vladimir Putin on Monday, as Trump attacked U.S. institutions, agents, and intelligence and backed down in the face of Russia's attacks on our open and fair elections.

It's not just the usual critics who were aghast at how Trump groveled before Putin—a growing number of Republican politicians and even some Fox News pundits have rebuked him.1

All of which gives us an opportunity: to cleave open the schisms in the Republican Party, force Trump's defenders to finally rebuke him and take meaningful action to check his reckless actions, and help even more voters see Trump for the self-serving, reckless charlatan he is.

We're launching a rapid-response series of actions to ask Republicans in Congress whether they will hold Trump accountable or else brand them as Putin Republicans as we hold them accountable. Will you chip in $3 to help out?

Yes, I'll chip in $3.

Here's what we're going to do:

  • Demand that members of Congress act or else be branded as Putin Republicans. We'll generate hundreds of thousands of signatures demanding meaningful action, tens of thousands of calls, and hard-hitting videos and social media content that will be seen tens of millions of times, and we'll support rapid-response vigils and actions, including more than actions across the country today.
  • Continue to defend Robert Mueller's investigation. It has produced 36 indictments—including charges against 12 Russian agents for cyberattacks just days before Trump acted as Putin's sidekick.2,3 We'll build momentum for Congress to pass bipartisan legislation defending the investigation—or else hold accountable Putin Republicans who block these protections and continue their Trump-cover-up crusade against Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein. And we'll shore up the Nobody Is Above the Law network of more than 900 events with 375,000 participants if Mueller or Rosenstein is fired.
  • Demand Congress say "hell no" to any lifetime appointments while Trump's team is under criminal investigation. The man attacking our agencies and defending Putin does not get to appoint the judiciary—especially Brett Kavanaugh, who has written extensively about the right of presidents to act above the law.
  • Hold Putin Republicans accountable—through impeachment of Trump, if necessary, and at the ballot box this November to kick Putin Republicans out of the Capitol and end GOP control of Congress.

Will you help us expose, brand, and hold accountable the Putin Republicans including Trump and his enablers in Congress by chipping in $3 now?

Yes, I'll chip in.

There is no doubt that Russian agents interfered with American elections. There is no doubt that Trump has sought to undermine independent investigations to hide the truth about that interference. And there is no doubt that Trump has pursued an agenda that has served Putin's interests—from declaring the European Union a "foe" to threatening to upend NATO.4

This is a clear moment that demands a reaction from every member of Congress—and especially from Republicans who have enabled Trump for too long. And it's a critical moment for MoveOn members to take action.

We'll be in the streets today and in the days ahead, on the airwaves and phones and social media, and we'll be in districts around the country as we ask every Republican: Are you ready to defend America, or are you a Putin Republican? And then we'll hold accountable those who choose Putin and Trump's agenda over American democracy.

MoveOn members have been at the forefront of the fight for an independent investigation with remarkable vigor and support already. Now help us build upon our work at this critical moment.

I'm in.

Thanks for all you do.

Wednesday: Demand Democracy from Republicans (RSVP)

Join a vigil to hold Donald Trump and his Republican defenders accountable.

Dear New York MoveOn member,

Yesterday, Donald Trump stood in front of the world's media and said that he believes Russian President Vladimir Putin over every U.S. intelligence agency when Putin claims that Russia didn't meddle in the 2016 election. He even suggested that we should make Russian intelligence agents part of the Mueller investigation, rather than the subjects of that investigation.

Tomorrow, we have a chance to escalate our outrage and demand that we hold Trump—and the Republicans who are failing to take action—accountable.

On Wednesday at sundown in over 100 cities and towns around the country, we're coming together for "Confront Corruption: Defend Democracy" vigils, where we'll demonstrate that the American people will fight for our democracy even as Trump backs down before Russian attacks.

Can you join us Wednesday for a rapid-response vigil to defend democracy?

When: This Wednesday, June 18

Where: Near you (click here for the closest event)

What: Vigils to bear witness to the attacks on our way of life

This link will take you to a website hosted by March for Truth, where you can find more details and RSVP. Don't see an event in your area? Sign up to host one!

The past two years have shown that Republicans in Congress will give Donald Trump a pass on almost anything, from his response to the Charlottesville attack to his relentless assault on the Mueller investigation. But Trump's horrendous showing in Helsinki appears to have riled up people across parties. Spontaneous protests erupted at the White House last night to greet Trump, and just take a look at some of the summit's coverage in local newspapers around the country:

frontpages""

MoveOn members have been at the forefront of calling for and defending the independent Mueller investigation into Russia's interference in our elections and the Trump team's involvement. We have consistently called out the anti-democratic, self-dealing practices of Trump and his kleptocratic Cabinet and family. And we have been in the fight to defend our democracy from Big Money, gerrymandering, and other right-wing attacks. Now that it's clearer than ever Trump won't defend Americans from Russia's attack, it's a critical moment to show up and take action.

Click here to find a vigil near you.
