Trump just gave us a huge political gift

Donald Trump just handed us an enormous political gift—and if we take advantage, it could end his chances at re-election.

Dear MoveOn member,

Donald Trump just handed us an enormous political gift—and if we take advantage, it could end his chances at re-election.

For years, Trump has promised not to touch Social Security, Medicare, or Medicaid.1 But a few weeks ago, he admitted at the World Economic Forum in Davos that he would pursue cuts if re-elected.2

Then, last week, Trump released his 2021 budget cutting these programs by $1.7 TRILLION.3

Cutting Social Security is opposed by eight of 10 voters over 50. And when you look at a list of the states with the most voters over 50, it's like a carbon copy of the key battleground states: Florida, Pennsylvania, Michigan, New Hampshire, Wisconsin … 4

If Trump underperforms among seniors by even one to two points in these key battleground states, the election is over.

Will you donate $3 to help call out Trump's attack on Social Security and Medicare? This could crush any hopes of Trump winning re-election.

Cutting Social Security in an election year is such a politically radioactive idea that, frankly, we can't believe our good luck.

To take advantage, we want to make sure every dime we spend is specifically targeted at the voters who really care about this issue. TV is terrible for that, because if you buy a television ad, you're going to be charged for everyone who might see the ad, whether they are likely to care or not.

But social media is a totally different ballgame. Sites like Facebook allow us to make sure our ads are reaching exactly the right people in the right states. Want to target independent voters over 50 in key battleground states who always vote? We can order that right up.

Everyone knows that senior citizens vote at a higher rate than any other age group, and they tend to skew toward Republicans. So if you're a Republican president trying to win re-election, going after their benefits is a pretty bad idea.

Let's put it this way: If you were literally trying to create an issue designed to peel off Trump voters and swing the key battleground states in the 2020 election, this would be it.

But if we're going to take advantage, we need to blow it up ourselves. Democratic candidates are working to secure the nomination, and the mainstream media is too distracted with Trump's latest celebrity pardon or outrageous tweet to focus on kitchen-table issues like this.

Since we never thought that Trump would give us such a huge gift, we don't have funding set aside for ads going after Trump's Social Security cuts. We only need to raise $20,000 to run a test ad campaign targeting these voters, and if it works, we'll go bigger. Will you donate $3?

Yes, I'll donate $3 to help blow up Trump's Social Security cuts and end his disaster of a presidency.

Thanks for all you do.

This could ensure Trump's re-election

This time around, those campaigns are even more sophisticated—which is why MoveOn is investing big in working to stop in their tracks disinformation campaigns meant to suppress Democratic votes (particularly from young people and people of color) and propel Trump to a second term.

Dear MoveOn member,

During each election cycle, MoveOn makes a big bet on a program that we believe will help win the election—combining people power and cutting-edge innovation to meet the political moment. And in 2020, our big bet has turned some members of MoveOn's staff into characters in their very own spy thriller—because this year we are hoping to invest in an ambitious and cutting-edge program to combat disinformation and online voter suppression.

Disinformation is false information deliberately spread in order to influence public opinion.1 Remember the Facebook ads in 2016 that spread the blatant lie that Democrats could vote from home via text message? Or viral fearmongering lies that millions of noncitizens were voting in the election? Or ads from the Trump campaign targeting Black voters in Florida, saying, "Hillary Thinks African Americans Are Super Predators"?2 Those were disinformation campaigns explicitly designed to suppress Democratic voter turnout and help Donald Trump win—and they worked.3

In 2016, Trump ran an unprecedented digital ad campaign that was fueled largely by disinformation.4 And that, coupled with disinformation campaigns from foreign governments like Russia and domestic groups with a vested interest in Trump's victory, helped lead him to victory.

This time around, those campaigns are even more sophisticated—which is why MoveOn is investing big in working to stop in their tracks disinformation campaigns meant to suppress Democratic votes (particularly from young people and people of color) and propel Trump to a second term.

But here's the problem: These disinformation campaigns are primarily spread on social media, and corporations like Facebook have a vested interest in doing nothing to stop them, because these campaigns make hundreds of millions of dollars for the platform.5 That's where we come in.

If we can fully fund our program, our staff of digital sleuths will be tracking disinformation networks online, following the threads to their source, exposing their impact, and demanding that social media platforms like Facebook take them down. But to do it, we will need a steady stream of funding for the rest of the year.

Mar, will you join our sleuthing squad and help dismantle the disinformation networks working to re-elect Trump by chipping in $5 a month?

Yes, I'll fuel MoveOn's work to stop disinformation and Democratic voter suppression!

No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.

Digital disinformation and voter suppression is A LOT to tackle, which is why we are taking a multi-pronged approach. Here is just some of what MoveOn is planning to do:

  • Run mobile billboards targeting Facebook and its employees. Starting after Super Tuesday, these billboards will run between Mark Zuckerberg's neighborhood in San Francisco and Facebook's Bay Area offices, demanding that Facebook change its ad policy to stop profiting from ads from political candidates that openly spread lies and disinformation.
  • Track down and take down right-wing networks that are working to spread lies, demobilize and intimidate Democratic voters, and make it harder to vote. MoveOn has hired an investigations team that is working behind the scenes to track disinformation networks targeting Democratic voters to demobilize and intimidate them. When we find those networks, we will mobilize to force Facebook to remove them, which will also get rid of most of the content they shared and prevent other voters from being exposed to it.
  • Live-monitor disinformation being spread during the primaries and especially during key political moments, with a plan to do this for the general election as well. On the day of the Iowa caucuses, right-wing social media began spreading conspiracy theories about the Iowa voter rolls, which the Iowa secretary of state said was meant to "disenfranchise Iowa voters."6 During each primary contest, our research team is live-monitoring the spread of disinformation to help better track the networks behind these lies.
  • Run pressure campaigns to demand that Facebook and other social media companies take action. Facebook's current policy expressly allows political candidates like Trump to run blatantly false ads, like the "Super Predators" ad he ran in 2016 to suppress the Black vote. And Facebook has shifted the responsibility for identifying and stopping disinformation from other state and nonstate actors to third parties and individual users. But it cannot continue to skirt its responsibility for providing a platform for these lies to spread.

Will you help us fully fund this campaign throughout 2020 so we ensure that Trump is not propelled to another victory through nefarious, racist, and xenophobic disinformation campaigns? Just chip in $5 a month.

Yes, I'll chip in monthly.

No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.

Here's the reality: A leaked internal document from Facebook quoted an employee stating that Trump "got elected because he ran the single best digital ad campaign I've ever seen from any advertiser," and the bulk of that campaign was powered by disinformation.7

That was in 2016, when Trump was trailing behind the Democrats in fundraising and was working with a small team of political amateurs. This year, Trump is outspending nearly all of the Democratic candidates and running far more Facebook ads than he ran in 2016.8

And it's not just his campaign; it's the vast network of right-wing disinformation accounts and sites that help to propel dangerous, violent, racist fake news and conspiracy theories that turn into real, quantifiable impact at the voting booth.

That is what we are up against, and the stakes could not be higher.

We must do everything we can to stop Trump from stealing an election like this. Please, Mar, will you help us put a stop to disinformation by chipping in $5 a month?

Yes, I'll fuel MoveOn's work to stop disinformation and Democratic voter suppression!

No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.

Thanks for all you do.

Join us as we demand the Supreme Court protect abortion access!

On March 4th, the Supreme Court will hear a major abortion rights case

Dear MoveOn member,

In less than two weeks, the U.S. Supreme Court will hear a case challenging a deceptive Louisiana law that, if allowed to take effect, would close all but one abortion clinic in the state. This law, despite claims by anti-abortion politicians, does nothing to protect patients' health. Its true goal is to eliminate access to abortion care. The Court's decision in this case will have a profound impact on the future of abortion access nationwide.

Join MoveOn and the Center for Reproductive Rights for a rally to protect abortion access on Wednesday, March 4 at 8 a.m. as the U.S. Supreme Court hears the case of June Medical Services v. Russo. Folks are traveling from all over the country to join us on this critical day for abortion rights.

This unjust law requires abortion providers to have medically unnecessary and often impossible-to-obtain admitting privileges within 30 miles of where they perform abortion care. Medical experts such as the American Medical Association (AMA) and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) oppose these types of laws as medically unnecessary and burdensome.1,2 This admitting privileges law is part of an ongoing, nationwide effort to regulate abortion out of existence—effectively banning abortion without directly touching the 1973 landmark Supreme Court decision in Roe v. Wade. From 2011 to 2017, anti-abortion politicians have pushed through 401 restrictive state laws to reduce access to abortion care.3

This is a straightforward case. In 2016, the Supreme Court found an identical Texas law unconstitutional in the case Whole Woman's Health v. Hellerstedt. Less than four years later, nothing has changed that could justify a different outcome, but Trump has stacked the court which could reverse decades of precedent and violate our rights.

Low-income people, people of color, young people, immigrant communities, and rural communities already face the greatest obstacles in accessing health care. Laws that restrict abortion, such as admitting privileges requirements, create additional and often insurmountable burdens to accessing health care. If this law is allowed to stand, other states with right-wing legislatures can pass copycat legislation that will result in closures of the remaining clinics across the South and Midwest. Fewer clinics means more delays in care, greater travel distances, longer waits for appointments, more time off work required, lost wages, and higher cost of care—pushing abortion care entirely out of reach for many.

If you are one of the majority of Americans who support abortion rights, we need you with us on March 4. Thousands of supporters will gather outside the Supreme Court in D.C., the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans, and online everywhere to send a clear message to the Supreme Court and anti-abortion extremists:

Abortion is and always will be #MyRightMyDecision, no matter where we live.

Stand by our side in D.C., New Orleans, or online as our partners at the Center for Reproductive Rights argue this case before the U.S. Supreme Court.

It's up to us to make enough noise that we can't be ignored. We hope to see you March 4 at the #MyRightMyDecision Rally!

Thanks for all you do.

We're demanding that Facebook take action to stop disinformation

During each election cycle, MoveOn makes a big bet on a program that we believe will help win the election—combining people power and cutting-edge innovation to meet the political moment.

Hi, Mar, it's AOC!

I want to tell you about a powerful, progressive fighter who can shatter my record of being the youngest woman to serve in Congress. Her name is Jessica Cisneros, and her win would get us one step closer to a better, more just America.

Dear MoveOn member,

This is Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and I'm writing to you today because I want to tell you about a powerful, progressive fighter who can shatter my record of being the youngest woman to serve in Congress. Her name is Jessica Cisneros, and her win would get us one step closer to a better, more just America. But, Mar, she needs your help.

Jessica is running to represent the people of South Texas. She's 26 years old, she's a human rights attorney, and if she's elected, I'll have a strong ally in the fight for Medicare for All, getting corporate money out of politics, and fixing our broken immigration system.

But I can tell you from personal experience that the pathway to power for people like Jessica is blocked every step of the way.

Jessica is running against Representative Henry Cuellar, an eight-term Democratic congressman in a deeply blue district, who votes with Donald Trump about 70% of the time.1 He's known as "Big Oil's favorite Democrat," boasts about his "A rating" from the National Rifle Association, opposes abortion, and has referred to undocumented immigrants as "rapists and murderers."2

When we vote Trump's cronies out of office and instead elevate progressive leaders like Jessica Cisneros, we'll have the power to make transformative change.

Will you join me in helping to elect Jessica Cisneros by chipping in $3 now to her campaign?

Jessica is deeply connected to the problems and struggles facing our communities. She was born and raised in the border town of Laredo, TX.3 Her parents are Mexican immigrants. As a kid, Jessica saw families like hers torn apart by a broken immigration system. She saw her parents struggle to keep a small business afloat, while politicians in Washington protected large corporations.

While Jessica is fighting for a better future for all of us, her opponent wants to maintain the status quo. He's the single largest recipient of oil and gas PAC donations in the House in the 2020 election cycle.4 He calls the Green New Deal "a farce and a fairy tale."5

And he has received piles of money from the private prison industry, including from the GEO Group, the private prison company that funds migrant shelters where several migrants have died.6 In defending private prisons, he said, "Without them, rapists, murderers, and other offenders would not be incarcerated and instead present a clear threat to our communities."7

The people of South Texas deserve a Democrat like Jessica who is going to fight for the interests of real people, not of big corporate donors like ExxonMobil and the private prison industry.

Mar, will you rush a donation of $3 to Jessica Cisneros's campaign? Her primary is on March 3, so we don't have much time.

I am so grateful to MoveOn members. You were there early to endorse my campaign. You were there at the Women's March. You were there when we stood together to publicize the horrors of family separation. And every day, you're fighting alongside me for Medicare for All, debt-free college, and the Green New Deal.

Only together can we truly make progress on big issues. And that includes bringing more bold, progressive leaders to Washington. Jessica is the next-generation leader that we need, and I hope you will join me in lending your support to this critical effort.

Pa'lante!

–Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

Susan Collins' worst week ever

Since day one of Trump's presidency, Collins has shown that she will never stand up to Trump or Mitch McConnell.

Dear Mar,

When Susan Collins voted against the impeachment of Donald Trump, she said she thought he'd learned his lesson and wouldn't do the same thing again.1

How's that going, Senator Collins?

Everything Trump has done since his acquittal has proved that the only lesson he learned was that he can do literally anything and Republicans like Collins and other so-called "moderates" will never hold him accountable.

In fact, since day one of Trump's presidency, Collins has shown that she will never stand up to Trump or Mitch McConnell.

From tax cuts to Brett Kavanaugh to impeachment, Collins has been there to help McConnell push through Trump's agenda—all while disregarding her constituents and disingenuously expressing deep concern about how troubling all of this is.

Enough is enough. No one other than Trump himself bears more responsibility for the sorry state of our democracy than Collins—and she must go.

Can you chip in $5 a month to help defeat Susan Collins and other vulnerable Republicans this November?

Yes, I'll chip in monthly.

No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.

In the week since Collins uttered the inexplicable words that Trump had "learned his lesson," Trump has publicly insisted that he did nothing wrong and that the whole investigation was an illegal hoax, and he has declared that he absolutely wouldn't do anything differently.2

Then, Trump began taking revenge on those who testified honestly during the impeachment investigation. He fired the ambassador to the European Union Gordon Sondland. He had security throw Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Vindman out of the White House, and even fired Vindman's twin brother for no reason at all.3

Of course, Collins responded with a concerned statement that she opposes any retribution against impeachment witnesses.4

And now, Trump has triggered the biggest crisis at the Justice Department since Richard Nixon's Saturday Night Massacre, by overruling the amount of prison time that federal prosecutors would seek for his buddy Roger Stone, leading all of the Justice Department lawyers working on the case to withdraw.5

What's Collins going to do about that? As usual, nothing.

The good news is that voters in Maine are sick and tired of her act. The latest polls say that she's the least popular member of the entire Senate with her own constituents.

We can beat Collins and end Republican control of the Senate, but it's going to take a huge effort. Will you chip in $5 a month to help make it happen?

Yes, I'll chip in monthly to help defeat Susan Collins and end Republican control of the Senate.

No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.

Change the rules of the Senate to ram through Neil Gorsuch on a near party-line vote? Collins voted for that.

Trump's massive tax giveaway to the rich? Collins voted for that, too, in exchange for McConnell promising to help her stabilize the Affordable Care Act insurance markets. Of course, when McConnell broke that promise, she did nothing.

And who could forget Collins casting the deciding vote to confirm sexual predator Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, after promising not to support a nominee who was "hostile" to Roe v. Wade.6

Collins has gotten away with pretending to be a moderate for too long. Now it's time for her to go. Will you donate $5 a month to help defeat Susan Collins and other vulnerable Republicans in 2020?

Yes, I'll chip in monthly.

No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.

Thanks for all you do.

Stop Killing our Mountain Lions

Add your name to show your support.

Dear MoveOn Member,

I'm Rob Mandell, a MoveOn member, and I started a petition to Gov Newson, State Legislators and CA Dept of Fish & Wildlife, which says:

Enjoin any further "depredation" permits on California Mountain Lions and set new rules (or pass law) prohibiting any killing of Mountain Lions except where there is an imminent threat to human life. Set aside funds to compensate livestock owners for predation losses and for any cougar relocation deemed appropriate.

Last week, the Cal Dept of Fish & Game allowed a livestock owner to kill a collared and protected California Mountain Lion known as P-56 because the cougar had been eating some of his livestock. The killing occurred within or near the boundary of the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation area. Mountain Lions are rare, endangered and far more important to Southern California's wild areas and ecosystems than livestock. The killing of P-56 leaves only one breeding age male in the entire Santa Monica Mountains range. We can pay someone for a lost sheep. We cannot buy a new Mountain Lion. At a time when we are contemplating spending millions on a migratory bridge for cougars, it is senseless to kill them for doing what they do — prey on other animals for food. Their habitat is dwindling and their populations are at at all time lows. And they are beautiful, majestic creatures who give a sense of wilderness to this important urban park here in Southern California. Killing them for someone's convenience is shameful and a crime against nature. In the long run, it will cost far less money just to pay for the lost livestock or take other non-lethal action. We can do this!

Click here to add your name to this petition, and then pass it along to your friends.

Thanks!

Hi, Mar, it's AOC!

This is Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and I'm writing to you today because I want to tell you about a powerful, progressive fighter who can shatter my record of being the youngest woman to serve in Congress.

Jessica is running against Representative Henry Cuellar, an eight-term congressman in a deeply blue district, who votes with Donald Trump about 70% of the time.1 He's known as "Big Oil's favorite Democrat," boasts about his "A rating" from the National Rifle Association, opposes abortion, and has referred to undocumented immigrants as "rapists and murderers."2

When we vote Trump's cronies out of office and instead elevate progressive leaders like Jessica Cisneros, we'll have the power to make transformative change.

Will you join me in splitting a $3 donation between Jessica Cisneros's campaign and MoveOn's efforts to elect progressives up and down the ballot?

Mar, will you join me and rush a donation of $3 split between Jessica Cisneros's campaign and MoveOn's critical election efforts? Her primary is on March 3, so we don't have much time.

I am so grateful to MoveOn members. You were there early to endorse my campaign. You were there at the Women's March. You were there when we stood together to publicize the horrors of family separation. And every day, you're fighting alongside me for Medicare for All, debt-free college, and the Green New Deal.

Only together can we truly make progress on big issues. And it can't be done without enough progressive lawmakers in Congress. To bring about change, we need to bring more bold, progressive leaders to Washington. Jessica is the next-generation leader that we need, and I hope you will join me in lending your support to this critical effort.

Pa'lante!

–Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

Can we send you a free "America for All" sticker?

MoveOn has just printed a big batch of "America for All" stickers, and we're giving them away for free, while supplies last.

Dear MoveOn member,

Last week, MoveOn unveiled our $20 million 2020 election program, "America for All." For the next nine months, we will be working to inspire the 7 million "high-potential voters" across 10 critical battleground states to turn out to vote. We'll mobilize MoveOn members and our allies to volunteer and organize in their communities. And we will flex our digital muscles to protect the right to vote from online disinformation and voter suppression campaigns.

This is the biggest and boldest election program in MoveOn's history, and although defeating Donald Trump and his Republican allies is critically important, our plan is about so much more than that.

It is about building a more equitable America, where immigrants, refugees, and communities of color are safe and welcome. Protecting the lives and dignity of trans Americans. Creating true equality for women. Fighting back against out of control corporate greed. Ensuring that health care is a human right. Tackling the climate crisis head on. And so much more.

To celebrate the launch of "America for All" and spread the message that in November we can choose to vote for a better future for our country, MoveOn has just printed a big batch of stickers, and we're giving them away for free, while supplies last.

Just click here or on the image below to get your free sticker now!

This November is our opportunity to build on the historic blue wave that MoveOn members and our allies powered in 2018 and elect bold progressives to positions up and down the ballot, including president of the United States.

The existential threat of Trump's presidency is almost over—but only if we all come together to fight for an America for all.

Click here to order your free sticker now and help spread the message of an America for All far and wide!

Thanks for all you do.

Roger Stone (petition)

Sign this petition demanding that the House Judiciary Committee and Department of Justice Inspector General look into the DOJ's reversal on Roger Stone.

Dear MoveOn member,

Sign this petition demanding that the House Judiciary Committee and Department of Justice Inspector General investigate William Barr's Justice Department!

The Department of Justice appears to be putting Donald Trump's friends above the law.

Following a tweet from Trump, the Justice Department undid the work of career civil servants prosecuting Trump's confidante, the convicted criminal Roger Stone, shortening the sentence they were seeking in his case. All four of the federal attorneys responsible for pursuing justice for Stone's crimes have resigned in protest.1

The Justice Department's internal watchdog must investigate the corrupt about-face made at the seeming behest of Donald Trump and call out cronyism within its own ranks. But given how compromised disgraced Attorney General William Barr is, we cannot trust the Justice Department to correct its course. The House Judiciary Committee, which has oversight of Barr, must also investigate independently.

Sign this petition demanding that the House Judiciary Committee and Department of Justice Inspector General look into the Justice Department's reversal on Roger Stone.

Donald Trump has already shown that he thinks he's above the law, and will act accordingly. But the Justice Department showing preferential treatment for Trump's criminal accomplices is a threat to the country. This turn has come within a week of the Senate GOP refusing to hold Trump accountable for his impeachable offenses. If the Department of Justice's Inspector General and the House Judiciary Committee don't act now, Trump will be shown that he is free to bend the law to his whim.

Thanks for all you do.

Lt. Col. Vindman

Sign this petition stating that we stand in solidarity with Lt. Col. Vindman and that Trump cannot retaliate against witnesses in his own impeachment trial.

Dear MoveOn member,

Will you sign the petition stating that we stand in solidarity with Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman and do not accept Trump's retaliation against witnesses who testified on impeachment in front of the House?

With a blank check from the Senate's sham impeachment trial in hand, Donald Trump is out for revenge. He's lashing out against anyone who put their loyalty to the country ahead of their loyalty to him—and against people whose only involvement is being related to individuals who testified before Congress.

Lt. Col. Vindman has been pushed out of his role at the National Security Council and was escorted from the White House. The American people will not sit quietly by as President Trump fires a decorated military officer in childish retaliation.1

Sign this petition stating that we stand in solidarity with Lt. Col. Vindman and that Trump cannot retaliate against witnesses in his own impeachment trial.

Alexander Vindman is the top Ukraine expert who was on the fated July 25 phone call where Trump tried to extort an investigation into the Bidens from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Vindman later testified before the House about what he heard on the call.

Vindman did this country a great service. He felt, in his words, a "sense of duty" to tell Americans the truth—and now, that honorable act has cost him his job, his career, and his privacy. It also led to the dismissal of Lt. Col. Vindman's brother, who had no involvement in the testimony. Vindman needs to know that Americans are thankful for his courage—and that Trump's attacks can't change the important truth that he told.

And the White House must be met with a nationwide outcry that we will not allow for witness retaliation and that we condemn Trump's abhorrent decision to punish Vindman for his patriotism.

Thanks for all you do.

Launching our 2020 election program

In 270 days, we will defeat Donald Trump and his Republican accomplices, while electing progressive leadership that will take our country forward.

Dear MoveOn member,

Today, we are formally launching our 2020 election program: America for All. And in 270 days, together, we will defeat Donald Trump and his Republican accomplices, while electing progressive leadership that will take our country forward.

You can watch and share it on YouTube, Twitter, or Facebook.

Since Donald Trump took office, his administration has relentlessly attacked and threatened communities across our country and beyond our borders, while trampling on the very foundations of our democracy. All the while, the Republican Party has stood by his side.

Trump has locked children in cages, tried to tear away our health care, condoned the rise in gun violence, rolled back our commitments to fighting climate change, and given away billions to the rich and giant corporations through his tax cuts while attacking student debt relief and food assistance for middle-class and poor people. And he's done it while emboldening white supremacists in the streets and in the White House and advancing a white nationalist agenda.

But the last three years have also seen an awakening in this country of millions of people who believe a better world is possible and have shown they are willing to stand up for it. We've been part of mass people-powered demonstrations: the night after the election in 2016; at the Women's March; at airports to protest the Muslim Ban; in the streets against family separation, gun violence, and more. We made hundreds of thousands of phone calls to Congress, showed up at town hall meetings, and organized and campaigned our hearts out successfully to prevent the repeal of the Affordable Care Act. We defended the Mueller investigation so the truth about Trump's abuses would come out, and then secured his impeachment.

And in 2018, we fueled a massive "blue wave," ending single-party rule in Washington and electing bold progressives up and down the ballot.

Now, it's time for us to take that energy, dedication, commitment, and solidarity that so many MoveOn members have shown over the past few years and translate it to the ballot box. There's no question that Trump will be successful in turning out his base this year, in what is likely to be the highest-turnout election in American history on both sides of the aisle. But there are more people in this country who see things our way than support Trump, and if all of us work together and show up to vote, we will win, not just sending Trump packing with a resounding defeat, but winning the Senate and House with a mandate for progressive governing.

November 3 is 270 days away. And what we do over those next 270 days is critical. This is why MoveOn is investing in a massive and game-changing election program. Here's what we'll do:
  • Mobilize millions of MoveOn members to volunteer in this election, contribute to candidates, and fuel the blue wave.
  • Inspire "high-potential voters" to vote, some for the first time. These are voters who may not have voted in 2016, including young voters, first-time voters, people of color, the middle class and the poor, and new Americans.
  • Protect the right to vote from social media and digital disinformation schemes that seek to undermine it.
It's a $20 million plan to go big all over the country, especially in 10 key battleground states—Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Maine, Michigan, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin—that are critical to winning the White House, flipping the Senate, and defending the critical House majority.

Trump and the GOP will have big money, the politics of hatred and division, and the power of incumbency. We also expect that Trump, knowing the Republican Senate will give him carte blanche to violate the law, will lie and cheat and seek to rig the election to the best of his ability.

But we have the people power—the power of culture and story and togetherness. And when we combine it with the best digital and mobile innovations and add high-impact applied analytics, all based in strong organizing, we can win this November. That's what we showed in 2018 and what we''ve been showing time and again during these past three years.

That same energy that mobilized us to win on health care, take the House in a landslide with the largest midterm turnout in a century, and reach this historic moment on impeachment is what we need fueling the movement over the next 270 days to vote Trump and his GOP accomplices out.

Thanks for all you do.
