RSVP: Anti-racist training series starting TODAY

Join us tonight to discuss the political and cultural significance of the Black Lives protests, to be a stronger ally, and to embrace a stance of anti-racism.

Dear MoveOn member,

What can I do to be "anti-racist"? How can I be an effective ally for Black Lives at this moment? What are the current protests rooted in?

Whether these are questions you've wrestled with before or are coming to for the first time amidst the explosive energy of the moment, these are discussions we all can be having with our families and communities with honesty and openness.

Which is why in partnership with NARAL, PCCC, Indivisible, NextGen, UltraViolet, and others, MoveOn is launching a livestream event series for our collective membership to discuss the political and cultural significance of the Black Lives protests. This series will focus on educating and organizing all of us to become stronger allies and fully embrace a stance of anti-racism.

Our first event will be today, Thursday, June 11, 5-6:15 p.m. ET/4-5:15 CT/3-4:15 MT/2-3:15 PT and will be built around telling the story of the protests, why the current anger being expressed is justified, and the role of police violence in the current landscape.

Through these discussions, we will push back against those who insist on condemning these protests, as well as help those who feel less connected to this moment understand why this affects them and how they can best show up now and going forward.

We have confirmed Marcia Chatelain, Ph.D., to discuss this moment from a historical perspective, Charlene Carruthers to speak on the nature of the protests themselves, and Rashad Robinson from Color of Change to discuss systemic racism in our current state of over-policing. I'll also lead a roundtable conversation on where we go from here.

Please click here to RSVP to join us TODAY and to get invitations for this important series of discussions at this pivotal moment. You can register for the event here, and we'll save you a spot on the livestream, send you a reminder before the discussion begins, and include you in future events in this series.

Thank you for being a part of this series and for bringing an open heart and mind as we learn together, grow together, and take action to improve our society—action rooted in the celebration and centering of Black lives and their liberation from centuries of violence, negligence, and oppression.

We look forward to working with you to help make this nation more in line with its stated values of equality and justice for all.

Thanks for all you do.

–Reggie, Thad, Julia, Olga, and the rest of the team
