Call Sens. Schumer and Gillibrand: Stop a war before it begins

Dear MoveOn member,

America has an incredible opportunity to finalize an agreement that would prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons and demonstrate that diplomacy is a realistic alternative to war.

Will you call Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand right now to tell them that you strongly support this diplomatic agreement?

Please call now—and say something like, "This agreement with Iran will make the world safer. The alternative is putting us on a path to another Mideast war. I'm calling on my senators to strongly support the agreement."

Here's where to call:

Senator Charles Schumer
Phone: (202) 224-6542

Senator Kirsten Gillibrand
Phone: (202) 224-4451

Then, so we know how it went and have up-to-date information on what members of Congress are telling their constituents, please report your call by clicking here:

Americans support this deal by a large margin.1 But war hawks are planning to spend as much as $40 million on fearmongering ads, lobbying, and other campaign tactics to bully Congress into sabotaging diplomacy.2

We can't outspend the war hawks, but we can out-mobilize them if we all speak up. The Senate is going on summer vacation next week, and it's critical they hear from us in Washington before they head home.

Can you call Sens. Schumer and Gillibrand right now to voice your support for this diplomatic deal?

This deal would be a historic achievement, making us all safer and disavowing the militarism and warmongering that led us into Iraq.

You can tell a lot about this diplomatic achievement by who stands against it and the language they are using. Ted Cruz compared the Obama Administration to Islamic terrorists for pursuing peace.3 Mike Huckabee compared this deal to the Holocaust.4

The other side will say anything, do anything, and spend anything to make sure diplomacy fails.

All month, we'll be asking members like you to call your senators—today's your day. Can you make the call right now?

Senator Charles Schumer
Phone: (202) 224-6542

Senator Kirsten Gillibrand
Phone: (202) 224-4451

Over the next month, we'll share opportunities to visit members of Congress when they are home for recess. Earlier this week, we joined other grassroots groups and members of the Congressional Progressive Caucus to deliver pro-diplomacy petitions signed by hundreds of thousands of Americans to Capitol Hill. And just yesterday, thousands of MoveOn members joined a call with President Obama to talk about this historic opportunity.

Your call today will contribute to this loud, powerful, collective call for peace.

Thanks for all you do.
