This graph shows the increase in COVID-19 cases in the U.S.

Well, now we can see the stark, devastating consequences of Trump's inaction and failed leadership.

Dear MoveOn member,

A majority of Americans still think that Trump is doing a good job handling the coronavirus crisis.1 But this new graph from Johns Hopkins showing how uncontrolled cases in the U.S. are compared to other countries impacted by the virus tells a very different story:

That line shooting straight up? That's us.

While the rest of the countries were taking coordinated, clear steps to stop the spread of the coronavirus, Trump was ignoring intelligence reports about the threat, downplaying the problem, shifting the burden to individual states, berating reporters, and pushing absurd conspiracy theories about medical professionals lying about the severity of the crisis to hurt him in the polls. And, still, months into this pandemic we have no national stay-at-home order, no national testing plan, and no national procurement and distribution of lifesaving medical supplies.

Well, now we can see the stark, devastating consequences of Trump's inaction and failed leadership.

And yet, a new poll released last night shows that a majority of Americans still believe that Trump is doing a good job managing the crisis.3

We have to get the word out, particularly to people who live in critical battleground states that Democrats need to win to defeat Trump in November, about how badly Trump has mishandled the crisis, and how his lack of leadership has led directly to the deaths of thousands of people.

To get the truth out, MoveOn is running a coordinated digital ad campaign targeting people who approve of Trump's handling of the crisis. Can you chip in $5 a month to help give us the funds to keep it up and running for as long as it takes?

Yes, I'll chip in monthly.

No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.

The list of how Trump and his administration have failed in this crisis is endless.

They pushed for a stimulus bill with a $500 billion slush fund for corporations, while at the same time cutting benefits for workers in need.4

Trump repeatedly called for widespread use of an untested malaria drug as a magical cure for the disease, while refusing to let health experts like Dr. Anthony Fauci tell the truth about the lack of scientific evidence about whether it is effective in treating COVID-19.5

He has refused to invoke the Defense Production Act to compel companies to make more desperately needed ventilators and personal protective equipment for frontline workers.6

The administration fired a respected Navy captain who asked for help protecting the crew of his aircraft carrier from the rampant spread of the disease.7

And Trump has stoked racist violence against Asian Americans by using dog whistles to blame China and Chinese people for spreading the virus.8

These are the stories that every American needs to hear. And these are the narratives that we must get out before people head to the polls in November or else Trump can continue to claim he is succeeding and could easily walk into a second term in office—putting the nation and our democracy at unimaginable risk.

Mar, will you help us keep our ads running in battleground states through Election Day by chipping in $5 now?

Yes, I'll chip in monthly.

No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.

Stay safe and be well.

Thanks for all you do.
