This is disturbing. On Friday, of the top 10 most popular Facebook posts, nine were from far-right extremists, including Ben Shapiro and Franklin Graham.1
And every weeknight, more than 3 million people tune in to watch Tucker Carlson on Fox News. It's the largest audience of any show on cable news.2
The right wing is dominating on TV and social media, reaching tens of millions of people and feeding them baseless lies and propaganda. Which is why it's no surprise that dangerous conspiracy theories about the COVID-19 vaccine and wild lies about a stolen election are spreading like wildfire across the country. In fact, a new poll shows that more than half of all Republicans still believe the 2020 election was stolen from Donald Trump.3
With our democracy and lives on the line, we cannot allow despicable figures like Carlson and Shapiro to spread their hate and lies and control the message.
To fight back, I've partnered with MoveOn to use our massive combined social media audience to beat back right-wing lies and disinformation. Together, MoveOn and I will create hard-hitting, viral videos and other content that dispels far-right conspiracy theories and gets the truth out to critical constituencies around the country.

We saw on January 6 the deadly consequences of the right-wing echo chamber, when Trump and his enablers ignited a white supremacist insurrection that left lawmakers running for their lives, dozens injured, and five people dead. And it could have been much worse.
So our work to beat back right-wing lies couldn't be more urgent. And MoveOn is uniquely poised to do this work through social media and on the ground.
MoveOn is a progressive powerhouse. For more than 20 years, MoveOn has taken on the right wing online and offline.
When Fox News, Trump, and other right-wing figures gained millions of followers and likes on social media, MoveOn launched its in-house Creative Lab to make videos and other content that could directly push back against the onslaught of Republican and right-wing talking points, racism, and lies. Since its launch, Creative Lab has produced thousands of powerful, fact-based videos that have been viewed hundreds of millions of times.
But, right now, MoveOn has a big problem. Donations to MoveOn have fallen sharply since last year, and unless MoveOn members step up, MoveOn won't have the resources to take on the right wing's conspiracy theories and lies.
