The cover-up in Trump's taxes

Watch and share Senator Elizabeth Warren's new video message to Donald Trump.

Dear MoveOn member,

Senator Elizabeth Warren has a new message for Donald Trump just in time for Tax Day.

And believe me ... You'll want to see it!

Will you watch and share this video of Sen. Warren making the case that the American people deserve to see Trump's tax returns and get the truth about what he's hiding?

Elizabeth Warren has a message for Donald Trump.

Not on Facebook? You can watch and share it on YouTube by clicking here.

Who pays Donald Trump? Who is getting rich off his presidency? Whose interests is he really working for? And what's he hiding? Those are some of the questions Senator Warren lays out and that we all deserve answers to.

Tomorrow, at more than 150 Tax March events around the country, tens of thousands of MoveOn members and fellow Americans will be on the streets demanding transparency and accountability from Donald Trump—or for Congress to step in to investigate Trump's taxes and financial entanglements.

This new video is a crystal-clear articulation of why it's so important we're out there. Watching and making this video spread like crazy will boost the Tax March by getting media attention and motivating people on the fence about attending their local event, and it will keep the drumbeat for thorough, independent investigations going beyond this weekend's marches.

The last time we teamed up with Sen. Warren to release a message to Donald Trump, it became the most-watched video in MoveOn history!

Click here to watch and share this video.

Thanks for all you do.

If Ossoff wins, Trump loses

Next Tuesday, we have a chance to set in motion a seismic shift in Congress that could lead to massive Democratic wins in 2018 and drive the nail in the coffin of Trumpcare. Next Tuesday, we have a chance to set in motion a seismic shift in Congress that could lead to massive Democratic wins in 2018 and drive the nail in the coffin of Trumpcare.

Dear MoveOn member,

Next Tuesday, we have a chance to set in motion a seismic shift in Congress that could lead to massive Democratic wins in 2018 and drive the nail in the coffin of Trumpcare—if we give our all right now by helping progressive candidate Jon Ossoff pull off an upset victory in next week's special election in Georgia.

Ossoff is currently ahead in the polls—for a historically Republican seat once held by Newt Gingrich! But right-wing donors are on the attack, spending millions running a racist smear campaign comparing Ossoff to Osama bin Laden.1

Will you chip in $3 right now to Ossoff's campaign and MoveOn's final push to get Ossoff over the line?

Yes, I'll chip in right now to help Jon Ossoff win on Tuesday.

Democrats hardly competed in this district in recent elections. But then incumbent Tom Price was tapped by Donald Trump to be secretary of Health and Human Services and the architect of the Republican health care plan, which would rip health care away from 24 million Americans.

Now, there's a perfect storm. An open seat, an unpopular president, a clear referendum on health care in America, and—this is the most critical—a compelling, authentic candidate who isn't afraid to fight for his progressive populist vision!

If Ossoff wins, Republicans across the country will know that no seat is safe, that there will be consequences for trying to repeal the Affordable Care Act, and that Trump's coattails are nonexistent.

Yesterday, Republicans barely pulled out a victory in another open seat in Kansas—one of the reddest districts in America, which Trump won by 27% in November—and only after the GOP flooded the race with money in the final days and Trump himself, along with Vice President Mike Pence and other high profile, national Republicans, intervened in the race.2

That's why MoveOn is doing what we do best, funneling the grassroots energy of our members into electoral victories. MoveOn members have already donated $266,000 to Ossoff's race directly, we've produced TV ads currently running in the district, and we're using innovative tools to engage our local members to volunteer and remind everyone to vote.

Will you chip in $3 now for the final week of work to help progressive candidate Jon Ossoff and MoveOn's efforts secure a victory that will terrify Republicans?

Count me in! I'll help win this election!

MoveOn members have demonstrated the importance of this race by investing heavily already. That's why we went ahead with a provocative ad campaign to make sure this election is understood as a referendum on Trump and Trumpcare.

And it's working. All across the country, eyes are watching this race. The resistance defeated every attempt so far by the Trump team to take away our health care, but as Republicans have shown us, they aren't done trying.

Winning this race would turn resistance energy into electoral impact. And it will be the next big sign that we have the power to stop the attacks on health care, a message that will be picked up by the media and be heard loud and clear in the halls of Congress and in races everywhere.

So, if you've been wondering what else you can do to fight the Trump Republican agenda and prepare for next year's fight to take back Congress, this is your chance.

Click here right now to chip in $3—or whatever you can afford—to help Jon Ossoff win next Tuesday.

Thanks for all you do.

Sean Spicer

Will you sign and share the petition demanding that Sean Spicer resign or be fired immediately as White House Press Secretary?

Demand Sean Spicer resign or be fired immediately.

Sean Spicer, Trump's chief spokesperson, said that Hitler "didn't even sink to using chemical weapons." Hitler murdered more than 6 million innocent people, many in gas chambers.

Spicer must resign or be fired for his false statement and continued misinformation.

Dear MoveOn member,

On Passover no less, Sean Spicer just told a room full of reporters that Hitler "didn't even sink to using chemical weapons" when describing Bashar Assad's alleged use of chemical gas on Syrian citizens.1

His apparent ignorance and his on-the-record erasure of the horrors of the Holocaust and the Nazi extermination of millions of innocent people—many in chemical gas chambers—are disgusting.

Will you sign and share the petition demanding Sean Spicer's immediate resignation or removal as White House Press Secretary?

Bashar Assad's alleged actions are horrifying. But Spicer's statement—erasing Hitler's use of chemical gas to kill countless people—is wholly unacceptable. And it needs be the end of his tenure as White House Press Secretary.

He has lost every shred of credibility as a public spokesperson.

Since Trump's dangerous, hate-filled presidential campaign, white nationalist violence and aggression have surged across the country. If Spicer is allowed to remain as a spokesperson for the White House, he puts all of us in danger.

Click here to add your name to this petition, and then pass it along to your friends.

Thanks for all you do.

Are you in for the Tax March?

Join an April 15 Tax March to demand the American people get to see Trump's taxes.

Dear MoveOn member,

For months, MoveOn members have been clamoring to see Trump's taxes—to find out who's been paying him and why. Now, as Tax Day approaches, it’s the perfect moment to turn up the heat.

The truth is, we don't actually need Trump to willingly show us his taxes. Congress has the necessary oversight power to demand that the Treasury release them. In fact, nearly every week, House Democrats propose legislation to compel the release.1

But Republicans are voting against these measures, covering for Trump, and denying Americans the opportunity to see who Trump has been working on behalf of over the last decade—and may still be working for now. Congress thinks that they're better off falling in line with Trump on this than looking out for their constituents.

We've got to show up with a clear question for our lawmakers, the Trump administration, and the media: Who pays Donald Trump?

Will you join us on April 15—Tax Day—at one of over 120 Tax March rallies around the country, from Los Angeles to Mar-a-Lago, to demand Donald Trump's taxes?

RSVP for a Tax March event near you!

These rallies, organized by grassroots activists and dozens of partner organizations, are a chance to publicly demand transparency and accountability. We shouldn't have to do this—every President in the last 40 years released his taxes. We need to show that we won't stand for undisclosed foreign entanglements and financial ties, nor will we let Trump and his cronies get richer at the expense of the rest of us.

Trump is already under FBI investigation for possible coordination with Russian cyberhackers. Every day seems to bring a new revelation about Trump's first National Security Adviser, Michael Flynn, working with foreign governments. Recently, we learned that Trump's campaign manager, Paul Manafort, had a $10 million a year contract to lobby for Russian interests in the US. The American people deserve a full account of Trump's ties to Russia. That begins with a full disclosure of his taxes and a thorough, independent investigation.

Trump says that loyalty is paramount to him, but who does he feel loyalty to? The American people should be his only employer, but who else holds his debts and pays his bills?

This isn't just some partisan football—it's about national security. But Congress is falling asleep at the wheel. A sign-on letter demanding Trump's taxes got 140 backers in the House, but only two brave Republicans.2 Maine Republican Senator Susan Collins has said she'd consider subpoenaing Trump's taxes in the Senate Intelligence Committee, but the committee's leadership hasn't done it.3 Let's ratchet up the pressure to force Congress to get us Trump's tax returns!

Join the Tax March on April 15 to demand transparency from our president. He works for us now, but it’s time we find out who else he may be working for.

The last few months have been humbling, making us realize just how fragile and broken our politics are. But they've also been inspiring and empowering because we've seen what we're made of. It's how we beat back the assault on health care against the odds, and stalled a xenophobic travel ban. On April 15, we’re keeping the fight alive and demanding transparency and accountability from our lawmakers.

Thanks for all you do.

Sunday's call will feature an all-star list of guests and trainers:

  • Representative Maxine Waters, of California’s 43rd Congressional District, will fire us up about the urgency of the moment, how our Resistance movement is building the drumbeat to investigate Trump and get hold of his taxes, and what we can do over the coming weeks to be heard by her colleagues in Congress.

  • Representative Barbara Lee, of California’s 13th Congressional District, will talk about the military escalation by Donald Trump in Syria and what a movement for peace and justice looks like in the Trump era.
  • Nelini Stamp, National Membership Director of the Working Families Party and member of the National Tax March Organizing Committee, will talk about the importance of the Tax Marches taking place across the country next Saturday, April 15 (to demand Trump's Tax returns) and how to get involved in making them amazing.

  • Beau Willimon, creator of the hit show "House of Cards," will share a view of the dark inner workings of Washington and why demanding transparency from Donald Trump and Congress is so crucial.

  • Autumn Zemke, Co-Chair of the Carson City Working Families Party, will talk about a successful Resistance Recess event her group organized during the February recess and share tips to supercharge Resistance Recess Round 2 actions.

  • Jennifer Epps-Addison, Network President of the Center for Popular Democracy, will moderate this Sunday's call.

Two months ago, we were faced with a unified Republican president, House, and Senate. Conventional wisdom was that we were about to lose on everything those Republicans had pledged to do. But we had hope. We got together and said "no!" We helped expose the reality that the promises to repeal the Affordable Care Act were empty and unpopular; that a "replacement" had to also be an improvement. And that we weren't going to let up, because we were organized, and we had each other—brothers and sisters in the Resistance.

Now, as we lurch toward military action that could embroil us in conflict while making matters worse in Syria; as Republicans, pretending they have a mandate to break the U.S. government, use the "nuclear option" to confirm extremist judge Neil Gorsuch to a lifelong seat on the Supreme Court; and as Trump continues to keep the potential conflicts of interest on his tax returns a secret, we need to speak up.

Talk with you Sunday!

Thanks for all you do.

—Victoria, Brian, Milan, Corinne, and the rest of the team

URGENT: Trump launched U.S. airstrike in Syria

It's up to MoveOn members to lead a chorus of people in every corner of this nation saying NO to bombing the people of Syria.

Dear MoveOn member,

News is breaking that Donald Trump just ordered the launch of dozens of Tomahawk missiles to strike Syria.1

It's an illegal and unauthorized escalation that could have devastating consequences, killing innocent Syrians and costing the lives of U.S. service members.

Things could spiral quickly in the coming hours, and it's up to MoveOn members to lead a chorus of progressives in every corner of this nation saying NO to bombing the people of Syria.

Will you sign an emergency petition to Congress right now?

Congress must force consideration of an Authorization for Use of Military Force, and members of Congress should vote "no" and halt Trump's march toward war.

Let's be clear: There's no doubt that Bashar Assad is a brutal dictator who has slaughtered his own people and is complicit in the use of chemical weapons. But this is no humanitarian mission. These are missiles ordered by a flailing president with plummeting approval ratings, trying to show how "tough" he can be. The result will likely be increased suffering for the Syrian people. And this unilateral U.S. attack could possibly even draw in Russia and Iran, which have been close partners of the Assad regime.

The U.S. cannot bomb its way to peace, but it does have an essential role to play in the world, including 1) welcoming increased numbers of refugees fleeing Syria, 2) fully supporting international relief efforts for those most affected by this brutal civil war, 3) engaging in multilateral diplomacy at the United Nations to isolate Syria, and 4) sanctioning Russia and other nations which enable the Assad regime.

But none of this will be possible unless we first halt Trump's march toward war.

Please click here to add your name to an emergency petition calling for Congress to act.

Thanks for all you do.
