Congress: Pass the Fair Minimum Wage Act

Dear New York MoveOn member,

I'm Roger Hickey of the Campaign for America's Future, and I started a petition to the United States Congress, which says:

Pass the Fair Minimum Wage Act of 2013, which would raise the minimum wage to $10.10 an hour and provide the first increase to tipped employees in more than 20 years. It would also index the minimum wage to the cost of living.

Raising the federal minimum wage to $10.10 per hour would boost the paychecks of over 30 million workers in the U.S. The majority of these workers are adults with full-time jobs, and nearly half have some college education.

If the minimum wage had kept pace with inflation since 1968, it would be $10.60 today. That's why we need a fix like the Fair Minimum Wage Act of 2013, which would raise the minimum wage and index it to the cost of living, ensuring workers a salary they can live on.

Tell your representatives and senators to support the Fair Minimum Wage Act today.

Click here to add your name to this petition, and then pass it along to your friends.

Thanks!

–Roger Hickey
