BREAKTHROUGH: Tweet now to defend Iran diplomacy

Breaking: It's time to defend the diplomatic deal to limit Iran's nuclear program. It proves that the U.S. can win without war.

Congress must let diplomacy with Iran work! Tweet your senators right now and tell them to support the diplomatic framework with Iran that the Obama has administration has reached.

Tweet at Congress!
Dear MoveOn member,

American diplomats just scored a historic breakthrough for our nation.

Through tough, courageous, and principled diplomacy, the United States and five world powers have agreed on a framework with Iran that will ensure, through rigorous inspections and verification, that Iran can have only a peaceful nuclear program.1

Diplomacy won, averting war—for now.

The remaining details of this agreement will be worked out over the next three months. Unfortunately, some in Congress are already threatening to derail this and they need to hear clearly: Let diplomacy work.

I saw that you're on Twitter. Can you tweet your senators right now and tell them to support the diplomatic framework with Iran that was just announced by the Obama administration?

We've already got it started for you, all you have to do is click here to tweet your Senators now.

Here are the three top things to know about the deal with Iran:2

  • Freezes Iran's nuclear program
  • Drastically reduces its stockpile of nuclear material
  • Allows for permanent, short-notice inspections and extensive monitoring by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the United Nations' watchdog

Bottom-line, international security experts agree that this comprehensive framework—once implemented—will significantly reduce any risk posed by Iran's nuclear program.

Since tweeting just takes a second, can you also call Sen. Gillibrand, Sen. Schumer, and Rep. Meeks right afterwards? You can say: "I support the diplomatic framework with Iran just announced by the Obama administration. Congress must not sabotage these efforts through increased sanctions or any other diplomacy-killing legislation. Let diplomacy work"

Here's where to call:

Senator Kirsten Gillibrand
Phone: (202) 224-4451

Senator Charles Schumer
Phone: (202) 224-6542

Representative Gregory Meeks
Phone: (202) 225-3461

Then, please report your call by clicking here:

Let's be clear, there are only two alternatives to this deal—a nuclear and more dangerous Iran, or another costly war in the Middle East. Neither will make our nation more secure.

And that's why we have to take action today. Click here to tweet your Senators now.

It's up to MoveOn members to call on Congress to stand strong and let diplomacy work—a phrase MoveOn members projected two evenings ago in front of the U.S. Capitol in support of Iran negotiations.

Because we know diplomacy can trump war, and a diplomatic deal with Iran will stand alongside the Camp David and Good Friday Accords as a necessary and shining example of this truth. Together, we can make sure it comes to fruition.

Thanks for all you do.
