Call Senator Schumer: Thank him for supporting the Iran nuclear deal

Senator Schumer is under attack for his support of the Iran nuclear deal. Senator Schumer is under attack for his support of the Iran nuclear deal.

Dear New York MoveOn member,

On Friday, Donald Trump recklessly decertified the Iran nuclear deal, a provocative step that could lead to the collapse of the deal and put us on a path to war.

Fortunately, Senator Chuck Schumer—leader of the Senate Democratic caucus—quickly came out to defend the deal, asserting that he wouldn't let the deal come undone.

It is critical that senators—especially leaders like Sen. Schumer—speak out for diplomacy. This agreement has been working, as Trump's own advisers and Cabinet members admit, and Democrats will play an important role in rejecting new sanctions that would undermine this diplomatic achievement.

Sen. Schumer is getting attacked—by Trump over Twitter and in the pages of the New York Post.1 It's critical he also hear from the majority of New Yorkers who support the Iran deal.

Can you call Sen. Schumer right now to thank him for defending diplomacy and to make sure his office can withstand right-wing pressure?

Here's where to call, pick any of the offices that are closest to you:

  • Senator Charles E. Schumer
    • Binghamton, NY: 607-772-6792
    • Buffalo, NY: 716-846-4111
    • Melville, NY: 631-753-0978
    • New York, NY: 212-486-4430
    • Peekskill, NY: 914-734-1532
    • Syracuse, NY: 315-423-5471
    • Rochester, NY: 585-263-5866
    • Albany, NY: 518-431-4070

You can say: "Thank you for standing up for diplomacy and committing to defending the agreement with Iran. Your constituents stand with you. Stand strong and reject any proposals to change the terms of the deal or pass new nuclear sanctions."

This agreement was President Obama's signature diplomatic accomplishment, and it is working. The other nations and the European Union that signed on to the agreement, and the UN inspectors, all affirm that Iran is in compliance.2 Trump's dangerous move is just political showmanship.

But the power is now in the Senate to stop any moves that would destabilize the entire agreement. Sen. Schumer will be key to holding that line. He criticized the deal in the past, but has now seen that it's working—and that it's essential to defend it from Trump.

Let Sen. Schumer know that we agree with him and that we'll support him in his defense of the Iran deal.

Call now and say thanks!
