What's possible—if we work for it

I was 62 years old when I decided to run for the U.S. Senate for the first time. I was a professor and policy wonk, who made fighting for middle-class families my life's work.

Dear MoveOn member,

I was 62 years old when I decided to run for the U.S. Senate for the first time. I was a professor and policy wonk, who made fighting for middle-class families my life's work.

My Republican opponent had a 65% approval rating, $10 million in the bank, and Wall Street on speed dial ready to help him win. The only way we had a shot at winning was to build the biggest grassroots campaign in Senate history.

And I am to this day grateful to the thousands of MoveOn members who were by my side in those early days and helped us win that powerfully important election.

As we head into the most important midterm elections in recent history, we need MoveOn more than ever. So I'm happy to learn that this week MoveOn is announcing its first 2018 endorsements for Congress. Eddie, these diverse, progressive, first-time congressional candidates need your help now—just like we needed you the first time I ran for office.

Can you chip in $5 a month to fuel MoveOn's work to support these candidates and end Republican control of Congress this November? Just click here.

(The best way to help MoveOn remain strong through election season is to click here now and become a committed monthly donor. But if you can't chip in monthly, then please click here right now, because MoveOn still needs your help.)

You've probably read the same headlines that I have—that Democrats' lead in the polls has dwindled and control of the House now looks like more of a toss-up. But that's not the whole story. If we support terrific candidates like this group that MoveOn's endorsing, and give organizations like MoveOn the resources to run a bold campaign, we can beat the odds by a wide margin this November.

As I've said before: When it comes to Donald Trump, we can whimper, we can whine, or we can fight back. Me? I'm fighting back.

The 13 candidates that MoveOn just endorsed are first-time congressional candidates who are also ready to fight back. And one of the best ways we can fight back together is to take back control of the House this fall.

This year, people all across this country are stepping up to do something extraordinary—running for office and taking on powerful interests and GOP incumbents to fight for their communities and working families.

Many of these candidates will face vicious attacks and smear campaigns. Right-wing Super PACs will spend hand over fist to stop them. Take it from me: To fight back, they need MoveOn.

These candidates are bold and progressive, with vision, grit, and focus. And MoveOn has a solid plan to help them and others like them win in November. But MoveOn needs your help to pull it off.

Can you join our fight and start a monthly donation of $5—or whatever you can afford—to MoveOn? You'll help support these candidates and end Republican control of Congress this November? Just click here.

Can't chip in monthly? Click here, because MoveOn needs your help.

Over the coming months, MoveOn plans to endorse and support a total of 100 candidates running for Congress in November. It's part of a massive elections campaign to take back the House, level the playing field, and begin building a new future for our country.

But in order to run the biggest midterm elections program in its history, MoveOn will need serious resources. Will you start your monthly donation of $5 now to help make it happen?

Yes, Elizabeth, I'm in! I'll chip in monthly.

No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.

I've seen it first-hand: By investing in MoveOn, you're investing in a team that combines the best of grassroots organizing, massive reach, digital tools, and constant innovation. In 2018, you'll be investing in a program that will do all of this and more, including:

  • Build a groundbreaking, first-of-its-kind initiative to share constituent videos with potential voters to help get out the vote. This program, called "Real Voter Voices," helps connect constituent stories with potential voters in their districts. MoveOn tells me that they've tested this program on recent campaigns in Virginia, Alabama, and Georgia—and the results showed that it could mean the difference between winning and losing in races across the country this November.
  • Endorse and support 200 inspiring progressive candidates for this year's elections—100 for seats in the House and 100 in state and local races. MoveOn has an entire elections team to identify amazing candidates and organize MoveOn members to volunteer, knock on doors, make calls, and donate to make sure that we not only win in November, but elect real progressives who will fight for our values.
  • Produce high-quality videos about candidates and issues that are seen by hundreds of millions of people before Election Day. Back in June 2016, MoveOn officially formed its first-ever video team, with the goal of creating powerful and persuasive videos to share with our social media audience. This year, Video Lab is continuing to expand that work by highlighting candidates, helping to educate audiences about important issues, and making sure that people get out and vote.
  • Run an innovative mobile program with a goal of sending 5 million texts this year alone. MoveOn has been building a program to connect with MoveOn members, volunteers, and voters for the past two years—even building its very own peer-to-peer texting tool called Spoke—and this year it will help drive volunteers to key districts and get out the vote.

Will you chip in $5 a month to help MoveOn support and elect a game-changing roster of U.S. House candidates—starting with the people announced this week and expanding to 100 candidates, all running on a proud progressive platform?

Yes, Elizabeth, I'm in! I'll start my monthly donation now!

No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.

Imagine a Congress that fights back against Trump and holds his administration accountable. Imagine a Congress that would make sure that every single person in America is guaranteed health care. Imagine a Congress that respects people of all backgrounds, instead of dividing and pitting people against each other for political gain.

We can't afford to wait until November if we want to win. Republicans are, in many cases, defending seats that were intentionally drawn—gerrymandered—to protect conservatives. And progressive candidates will certainly face an avalanche of attack ads financed by right-wing megadonors eager to protect their massive tax cuts, special breaks, and loopholes.

But together—if we start working right now—we can fight back, win, and make November 6, 2018 the day that our country turned the corner toward a more progressive future, where all of our kids and grandkids have a fighting chance to succeed.

Eddie, support from MoveOn members like you was essential to helping me win my first election in 2012—and I know it will be essential again for my reelection campaign this November. The best way you can help keep MoveOn strong is to give monthly. Which is why I'm asking you:

Can you start a monthly donation of $5 today to help send these amazing candidates to Congress to work with us in Washington next year?

Yes, I'll chip in monthly.

No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.

Thanks for all you do.

–Senator Elizabeth Warren

P.S. Here's a little bit about a few of the candidates endorsed by MoveOn this week. Some of them are running in the most competitive districts in the country. And every one of these candidates has a chance to be part of a wave that will knock Republicans out of the House of Representatives.

Colin Allred in TX-32 is a civil rights attorney and Dallas native who is running to fight for working families, not the special interests who have rigged the system. He's up against Representative Pete Sessions, one of the most conservative members of the U.S. House, and who has voted 100% of the time with Trump.

Kara Eastman running in NE-02 is a trained social worker, runs a nonprofit organization for green and safe housing policies, and serves on the board of her local community college. She supports Medicare for All—while her opponent, Representative Don Bacon, voted to take health care away from millions.

Andy Kim running in NJ-03 is a South Jersey native, Rhodes scholar, and national security expert. He's ready to serve the people, not giant corporations. His GOP opponent, Representative Tom MacArthur, voted to give massive tax cuts to corporations and was the author of a bill that would allow health insurance companies to deny coverage to people with pre-existing conditions.

Will you chip in $5 a month and help send the GOP packing this fall?

Yes, I'll chip in monthly.

No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.
