Kill health care?

Can you call Sens. Schumer and Gillibrand today? Tell them: don't leave for August vacation until you vote on health care. Americans can't wait for real reform.

Dear MoveOn member,

Let's be clear: Republicans aren't trying to make health care reform better—they're trying to delay it until it dies.

Some, like right-wing pundit Bill Kristol, even admit it: "This is no time to pull punches. Go for the kill."

And right now, too many Democrats are playing right into their hands. The Senate is saying they're not even going to vote on health care before their August vacation—and if conservative Democrats have their way, the House won't either.1,2

Every day Congress stalls, our chance for real health care reform grows dimmer. Can you call Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand today and tell them not to leave for August vacation before voting on health care reform?

Stalling reform is the Republicans' key strategy to stopping it entirely.3 But with real people's lives at stake, the status quo is simply untenable.

Every day, 14,000 Americans lose their insurance,4 and nearly 2,500 file for bankruptcy because of medical costs.5 And costs continue to spiral out of control—average family premiums will hit $22,000 a year over the next decade.6

Enough is enough. We've had years to debate health care reform—what we need now is action.

Can you call Sens. Schumer and Gillibrand right away? Tell them delay isn't an option—the cost of inaction is just too high. Then click the link below to let us know how your calls went:
