Tom Price—Donald Trump's nominee for secretary of health and human services—could destroy health care as we know it. Not only does Price have a ready-made plan to repeal the Affordable Care Act, he pushes extreme policies that would affect nearly every American: he wants to slash and privatize Medicare and shift costs to seniors, gut Medicaid, allow discrimination against pre-existing conditions, and defund Planned Parenthood.^1,2

And on top of all that, he's facing calls for an ethics investigation over a string of stock trades in medical companies that he made while advocating for legislation that could affect their share price.³ Just last night, CNN broke the news that he "invested in a company, and then introduced a bill to help it" less than a week later.⁴

Tomorrow morning, we're joining Planned Parenthood to deliver hundreds of thousands of signatures to the Senate during Rep. Price's confirmation hearing, to oppose his nomination. Will you sign the petition now to make sure your name is included?

Block Tom Price's nomination for secretary of health and human services. His brazen apparent ethics violations and support for extremist policies—from privatizing Medicare to gutting Medicaid to defunding Planned Parenthood and repealing the Affordable Care Act—would hurt millions of Americans.

You can learn about Rep. Price by looking at his close associations. He is an active, long-standing member of the fringe Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, which has published reports pushing long-debunked claims that vaccines cause autism, HIV does not cause AIDS, and there is a link between abortion and breast cancer.⁵ In a 2011 speech to this group, he called their executive director "a hero of mine."⁶

Trump has made clear that Price will be driving his administration's health care agenda. Senators—especially Democratic senators who now more than ever need to stand up and fight—must look at his record and do everything they can to prevent Tom Price from becoming the secretary of health and human services.

In this dark moment, even as we think big about the positive agenda we're fighting for—Medicare for All—we've got to demonstrate that we'll fight back against those who would strip away the progress we've made.
