Dear MoveOn member,
There's a lot of uncertainty about what will happen in the primaries and the general election, but here's what we know for sure: MoveOn members like you will play a critical role in carving out a path to victory in 2020. And, in order to pave the way for progressive governance, Democratic primary candidates must come up with big ideas that will energize volunteers and voters, and make our country a place where everyone can truly thrive.
Democratic presidential primary candidates Senator Cory Booker, Secretary Julián Castro, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, Senator Kamala Harris, Senator Amy Klobuchar, Congressman Beto O'Rourke, Senator Bernie Sanders, and Senator Elizabeth Warren understand the power of the MoveOn community and the power of big ideas. That's why they've agreed to present their big ideas to us at the MoveOn Big Ideas Forum, the first event of its kind in MoveOn's 20 year history, on Saturday, June 1st at 3:45p.m. ET/2:45p.m. CT/1:45p.m. MT/12:45p.m. PT.
At the online watch party, you'll be able to watch the MoveOn Big Ideas Forum happen in real time, while also chatting with thousands of MoveOn members and progressive movement leaders from across the country and sharing your reactions to the candidates' big ideas. Once you register for the online watch party, you'll also have the opportunity to submit questions for candidates that MoveOn will consider asking at the forum. All you need to join the big ideas online watch party is a computer or phone with an internet browser and an internet connection.
At the Big Ideas Forum, Democratic presidential candidates will each share one "big idea"—a bold, visionary, transformative proposal or policy that could tackle the most-pressing crises we face and push our country forward. Each candidate will present this big idea in five minutes or less—followed by a moderated discussion by forum hosts, including Karine Jean-Pierre, MoveOn's chief public affairs officer, and EquisLabs co-founder Stephanie Valencia, featuring questions from fellow MoveOn members.
Big ideas are one of the keys to winning in 2020—which is why we're asking candidates to share their big ideas and pushing these ideas into the center of the political discussion. But it's not only the candidates' voices that are critical. How all of us react to the big ideas, share them, challenge them, and champion them could help boost these particular ideas in the months to come and help build momentum for the very idea that big ideas must be central to how the media and voters evaluate this primary season.
Thanks for all you have done with MoveOn in your community—and for all you will do in the primary and general elections ahead.
—Kate, Allison, Erica, Mark, and the rest of the team at MoveOn
