60daystostopawar.com. Seen it yet?

Visit the site and share this graphic that shows why now is the time to flood Congress' offices and town hall meetings.

The U.S. + Five world powers have reached a deal with Iran to stop its potential path to a nuclear weapon. The deal is supported by over 60 nuclear security experts, more than 100 American ambassadors, 75% of Democrats, and 54% of all Americans. But the architects of the Iraq War are fighting to kill the deal. John Bolton says, 'Preemptive military action is now inescapable' and Bill Kristol says, 'Airstrikes to set back the Iranian nuclear weapons program are preferable to this deal.' Opponents are pressuring Congress by spending over $40 million to put the U.S. on a path to war with Iran. But millions of dollars can't drown out millions of voices. Americans have added more than 700,000 petition signatures and more than 100,000 calls to Congress to defend the deal. Members of Congress have less than 60 days to decide whether or not to veto the deal. Now is the time to flood their offices and town hall meetings. Visit 60daystostopawar.com to find events near you or to call your member of Congress. Tell them: A vote against the Iran deal is a vote for war. MoveOn.org and Win Without War

Lieberman's back

In a backlash that has sent shock waves through Washington, D.C., more than 20,000 of us have pledged to withhold more than $11 million from Democrats who lead us towards war with Iran.
Dear MoveOn member,

Our pressure is working. In a backlash that has sent shock waves through Washington, D.C., more than 20,000 of us have pledged to withhold more than $11 million from Democrats who would lead us towards war with Iran.

Senator Chuck Schumer—would-be Democratic Leader in the Senate, and the only Democratic senator to publicly oppose the Iran deal so far—is feeling the heat. Politico reports that "with liberal groups furious over his opposition to the Iran nuclear deal, Sen. Chuck Schumer has been quietly reaching out to dozens of his colleagues to explain his decision" and assure them he won't lobby them to join his side.1

And in recognition that Schumer is against the ropes politically, a group backed by hawkish billionaires—and headed by none other than the pro-war former senator Joe Lieberman—has bought a video billboard in Times Square to support him.

Every undecided Democrat, from Senator Cory Booker to Representative Jerry Nadler, is watching what happens to Schumer. They're trying to figure out whether there's more political risk in supporting the deal—or opposing it. So this is the moment for us to double down.

Can you chip in $3 to help buy an opposing billboard in Times Square calling out Schumer—and pointing out that the war hawks who took us to Iraq now want war with Iran?

Yes, I'll chip in to help hold Senator Schumer accountable.

There's an amazing story about the group that bought the pro-Schumer billboard, a story that tells you everything you need to know about this fight.

The organization, United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI), used to be chaired by Gary Samore, a nuclear expert who runs a security program at Harvard. During negotiations with Iran, he was skeptical. But according to an article in the New York Times, after the Iran deal was finalized, Samore took a hard look at the text—and wound up supporting it.2 If you want to keep Iran nuclear-free, supporting the deal is the best path to do it.

But that put him on the wrong side of the group he chaired, which was funded in no small part by ultra-right-wing pro-war billionaire Sheldon Adelson. So Samore stepped down. And into his chair slid Joe Lieberman, the Iraq War's #1 Democratic cheerleader—and the target of a MoveOn-supported primary campaign in 2006 that cost him the Democratic nomination for his Senate seat.

Lieberman, predictably, opposes the Iran deal. And under Lieberman's leadership, UANI wasted no time in coming to the aid of Sen. Schumer, who was facing a wall of criticism from progressives, just as Lieberman had a decade ago.

The fallout from Schumer's decision will shape the future of the Democratic Party, the country, and the Middle East. Everyone's watching. That's why we have to lean in to this fight—and respond to the pro-war billboard in a way that can't be missed.

If we can raise the funds this week, we can buy an anti-war billboard in Times Square, and buy online ads to make sure that swing voters across America see our message. Can you chip in $3?

Click here to chip in, and help us hold Senator Schumer accountable.

We didn't stop the last war. We'll all have to live with that—those of us who didn't lose our lives to it. But we can stop this one.

Thanks for all you do.

Oklahoma is about to execute an innocent man

Having had the incredible privilege of playing Sister Helen Prejean in "Dead Man Walking," I have watched Sister Helen fight for 20 years to stop innocent people from being executed. Now, Sister Helen and I urgently need your help, as you can see from her note to you below. Oklahoma is about to execute an innocent man, and the only thing now that is going to give him a chance to live is public outrage. Sign Sister Helen's petition now asking Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin to give Richard Glossip a reprieve. —Susan Sarandon

Dear MoveOn member,

I'm Sister Helen Prejean, and I really need your help. Oklahoma is about to execute an innocent man. That's why I started a petition to Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin, which says:

Stop the planned execution of Richard Glossip on September 16. Richard was convicted of murder after Justin Sneed, the man who confessed to the killing, claimed Richard had hired him to do it, despite a breathtaking lack of evidence. Sneed got a life sentence in a medium-security prison, while the self-serving testimony that saved Sneed's life sent Richard to death row. Please grant Richard a reprieve to allow his attorneys time to gather and present evidence of his innocence.

Ten men on death row have been exonerated in Oklahoma in the past 35 years, four of them due to falsified testimony by criminals who had their sentences reduced in exchange for their testimony.1

Richard Glossip, who is scheduled for execution on September 16, was convicted solely on the testimony of his co-worker, Justin Sneed. Sneed confessed to the murder and avoided the death penalty himself by implicating Richard.2

A reprieve will give Richard's pro bono lawyers time to prove his innocence.

Click here to add your name to the petition, and then pass it along to your friends.

Thank you.

Unbelievable. Schumer. War.

Senator Chuck Schumer is on the wrong side of history. Let's make sure he doesn't take any Democratic colleagues with him.
Take the pledge: Commit to withholding contributions from individual Democrats—and from any party committee supporting them—if they succeed in sabotaging President Obama's diplomatic agreement with Iran.

Dear MoveOn member,

*** We could be starting down the path to a new war in the Middle East—and New York Democratic Senator Chuck Schumer is to blame. This isn't hyperbole. It's a message to all Democrats in Congress who would dare sabotage diplomacy. Please read on. ***

According to breaking news reports, Sen. Schumer has declared his public opposition to the Iran deal negotiated by the United States and five other world powers—a solid and verifiable diplomatic agreement that is the only way other than war to cut off Iran's pathway to a nuclear weapon.1

Republicans—like those in last night's ten-ring circus of a debate—have made defeating the Obama administration's Iran deal their top priority. But they can only prevail if Democrats join them. And make no mistake, the alternative to the Iran deal is war.

It's outrageous that Sen. Schumer—who's likely to be the next leader of the Senate Democrats—would make this dangerous move. Any Democrat considering joining Sen. Schumer must also be held accountable and must know that he or she too will pay a steep political price for attempting to sabotage the Iran deal.

That's why MoveOn members are pushing forward with an unprecedented donor strike—to get individual donors to pledge to withhold a total of $10 million in donations from any Democrat who joins Sen. Schumer in opposing the historic Iran deal and succeeds in sabotaging diplomacy, as well as from any party committee that supports them.

Can you sign our pledge right now—and agree to withhold your contributions from Democrats who undermine diplomacy and the party committees that support them?

Click here to join MoveOn members in pledging to withhold contributions from Democrats who undermine the president's diplomacy with Iran—and any party committee that supports them. (And when you sign, tell us how much you could give from now through Election Day 2016.)

If Sen. Schumer won't give the Obama administration's diplomacy a chance to work, then he's choosing to side with some of the same Republican war hawks who led us into the Iraq War. And he's breaking with the president to side with reckless members of Congress like Senator Tom Cotton, who's attempted to thwart diplomatic negotiations at every turn, and who believes that bombing Iran is our best option.2

Any Democrat who dares to join Sen. Schumer must see immediately that MoveOn members will fight, not just with our calls to Congress, our petitions, and our rallies—but with our checkbooks and our credit cards.

Can you pledge to withhold your contributions from pro-war Democrats who undermine President's Obama historic deal—as part of our public and sustained rebuke of Sen. Schumer's actions?

Yes, I'll sign the pledge and commit to withholding my contributions, so Democrats know that putting America on a path to war is completely unacceptable.

Remember, Sen. Schumer has been wrong before. He voted to give President George W. Bush the authority to start the Iraq War.3

That tragic mistake alone should have been enough for the senator. When America went to war in Iraq, it cost us more than $2 trillion.4 Thousands of Americans died and tens of thousands were wounded.5 And at least half a million Iraqis were killed.6

Does Sen. Schumer really want to do that to our nation again—when there is a sound and viable alternative that's supported by renowned national security experts?7

Ready to fight back? Then click here and sign the pledge, and join us.

Thanks for all you do.

This is bad. Very, very bad.

Planned Parenthood is in trouble. Big trouble. They need MoveOn members and others who support their vital mission to stand with them now.
Dear MoveOn member,

If you haven't been paying attention to the attacks on Planned Parenthood, now is the time. Because Planned Parenthood is in serious trouble.

The first major vote to defund Planned Parenthood is scheduled for tonight. And after two weeks of relentless smears, it's now being reported that Senator Joe Manchin—a Democrat who previously supported Planned Parenthood—has now switched sides and become the first Democrat to say he'll vote to completely defund Planned Parenthood.1

This is bad—very bad. Until now, it's been the same old conservative Republicans attacking Planned Parenthood. But if we start losing Democrats who used to be on the right side of this issue, then all bets are off. Will you chip in $3?

Yes, I'll chip in to MoveOn's campaign to help defend Planned Parenthood.

Two weeks ago, the idea that Planned Parenthood could get defunded was laughable. Now there's no question it could happen.

Today's vote is the latest and most serious step in what's shaping up as a months-long campaign to destroy Planned Parenthood. Even if we can stop the very worst defund Planned Parenthood bills in Congress, we're seeing former allies propose so-called "compromise" bills that would still impose damaging cuts.2 And we're seeing state-level efforts to attack or fully defund Planned Parenthood popping up all over the country.3

This isn't just a crisis for Planned Parenthood. It's an attack on the 2.7 million women and men who rely on Planned Parenthood each year for basic health care.4

Make no mistake: When a woman asks that fetal tissue be donated for medical research, Planned Parenthood is 100% right to honor those wishes. It's legal, it's ethical, and it's essential for finding life-saving cures for diseases like Parkinson's.

The good news is that Planned Parenthood's public support remains rock-solid. Millions of Americans trust Planned Parenthood based on firsthand experience, and 63% still oppose defunding Planned Parenthood.5

The key is to send a strong message to wavering senators and state legislators that they will be held accountable by the majority of voters who trust and support Planned Parenthood. We need to track these attacks over the coming months and push back against them as we've already begun doing—with phone calls, tweets, online ads, and more.

Will you chip in $3 to MoveOn's campaign to help defend Planned Parenthood?

Click here to chip in and help MoveOn defend Planned Parenthood.

Thanks for all you do.

URGENT: Senate to vote TODAY to defund Planned Parenthood health centers

Dear MoveOn member,

Senate Republicans have fast-tracked a new bill to cut off federal funding for Planned Parenthood health centers, and the vote is TODAY at 5:30 p.m.1

Given how deviously effective the attack on Planned Parenthood has been, even a few pro-choice senators who previously supported Planned Parenthood are starting to waver. Every champion, supporter, and undecided senator needs to hear from us today. We need supporters not just to vote right—we need them to speak out loudly to shift the political momentum.

Can you call Senators Kirsten Gillibrand and Charles Schumer now? Tell them: "Stand with Planned Parenthood. Vote against the dangerous attack on women's health and rights."

Here's where to call:

Senator Kirsten Gillibrand
Phone: (202) 224-4451

Senator Charles Schumer

Late last week, an anti-abortion group released its fourth deceptively edited video attacking Planned Parenthood for legally donating tissue—which is used for research into treatments for cancer, diabetes, stroke, and many other diseases.2 And the group says it plans to release a new video every Tuesday for at least the next few months.3

The goals of this Planned Parenthood smear campaign are simple—yet bone chilling: Shut down health centers and ban abortion.

It's not hard to see the group's motivations, given that one of the group's leaders also runs an organization whose members have bombed abortion clinics and assassinated an abortion provider,4 and another of its leaders spent two years in jail for planning a clinic bombing.5

Meanwhile, last week anti-abortion activists also hacked Planned Parenthood's website and published the names and contact information of more than 300 Planned Parenthood employees.6 And they launched illegal cyberattacks that completely shut down Planned Parenthood's and the National Network of Abortion Fund's websites for days, with Planned Parenthood's site still down.7

The Senate GOP has seized on these attacks and skipped the usual process to vote this afternoon on a bill, sponsored by Senators Mitch McConnell, Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, and 20 other Republicans, to strip all federal funding from Planned Parenthood—funding that provides women in communities across the country access to affordable cancer prevention screenings, well-woman visits, and birth control.

Enough is enough. Call Sens. Gillibrand and Schumer now. Tell them to stand with Planned Parenthood and reject the attack on women's health and rights.
