Hosting is simple and straightforward—but the calls and community-building at these parties make a real difference. Last election, over 56,000 individual MoveOn members came to call parties that helped win it for Obama, and folks overwhelmingly reported that the calls to other MoveOn members were powerful, fun, and gratifying.
This time, we're planning to make over 500,000 calls to help recruit volunteers for candidates in tight races—including progressive heroes like Barbara Boxer, Russ Feingold, Alan Grayson, Tom Perriello, and more. By calling fellow MoveOn members in these key campaign areas, we'll help make sure our candidates have the grassroots army they'll need to get out the vote.
And this particular weekend is really special. On October 2nd, hundreds of thousands of progressives will gather in Washington, D.C. for the massive "One Nation" rally—calling for bold action to create jobs and get America moving again. On the same weekend, thousands more of us will take action locally, including these Stop the Takeover call parties.
As a party host, you'll be enabling other folks in Inwood to get involved in the campaign. Here's what to expect:
- You'll invite friends and family—and we'll invite nearby MoveOn members, if you'd like, to help fill up your party.
- We'll ask everyone to bring their cell phone and a delicious dessert to share. (Saving democracy can be tasty, too.)
- We'll provide step-by-step materials to walk you through the event, including scripts and lists of names and numbers. We'll even have live volunteer support in case you have any questions during the party.
It's simple, but hosting is a huge service to other progressives in your area. Can you host a party on October 2nd or 3rd in Inwood? Click here to get started:
Thanks for all you do.
