Sign the petition re: rigged immigration system

Sign the petition to stop Trump's attacks on immigrants.

Dear MoveOn member,

The Trump administration has proposed cruel rules to punish immigrants in America seeking green cards—but right now is a period when the federal government MUST accept comments from the public! I hope you will join me in signing a petition—which we will formally submit as public comments on this measure—to hold the Trump administration accountable for its extremist immigration proposal. We only have until December 10 to push back and make our voices heard as part of the comment period. Sign the petition to join us in the public record today.

The Trump administration unveiled a new proposed regulation that penalizes immigrant families for simply accessing basic needs to feed their children and keep their families healthy. Immigrant communities, long the target of attacks by Trump, will now live in fear of seeking the basic support they need. We cannot let this stand.

Under the proposed regulation (CIS No. 2499-10
DHS Docket No. USCIS-2010-0012), Trump would be able to establish a rigged immigration system where green cards would only be available to the wealthy few who are trying to immigrate to this country. All the while, those with modest financial means are left uncared for, forgotten, and denied the possibility of a permanent future in this country.1

This extremist, anti-immigrant measure betrays our fundamental values. We are a country largely made up of immigrants, and this proposal undermines what our country is built upon. Just like the termination of DACA, the cruel family separation policy, and the Muslim Ban, this proposed rule criminalizes immigration and represents an extremist attempt to close America's doors to all but those with financial means.

We have until December 10 to submit as many comments as possible to push back against these proposed policies.

The Trump administration is required by law to post this unjust proposed order on Regulations.gov for 60 days before finalizing the regulation. This means that the public can weigh in before the 60 days are up. If people like you and I post comments against the order, we stand a better chance of disrupting or even stopping it. When the Trump administration attacks marginalized communities, he attacks the character of our nation. People nationwide have taken a stand each time this administration has launched an attack on the most vulnerable among us, and now it's time for us to take a stand again.

Let's step up and push back against these extremist policy proposals before its too late.
