A Democrat just asked the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn Roe vs. Wade

After I ended my campaign for president, I made a promise that I wouldn't stop fighting for bold, progressive policies and candidates who will move our country forward.

Dear MoveOn member,

After I ended my campaign for president, I made a promise that I wouldn't stop fighting for bold, progressive policies and candidates who will move our country forward.

That's why I'm thrilled to throw my support behind Marie Newman, a progressive fighter running for Congress in Illinois' Third Congressional District, just outside Chicago.

Marie's opponent, Dan Lipinski, is an eight-term Democratic incumbent who votes with Republicans time and again.

He voted with Republicans to oppose the Affordable Care Act, the Dream Act, and the Equality Act.1 He's a staunch opponent of keeping abortion safe and legal. He even just joined Republicans to call on the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade.2

Marie, on the other hand, is on the right side of all of these issues and others. She has been a lifelong fighter for hardworking families like the one that she grew up in.3 And instead of playing Washington politics, I know that she'll work to ensure that the people that she represents and folks nationwide, too, can get better health care and a good education—and that immigrants in her district and around the country will be protected from Donald Trump's cruel and inhumane agenda.

Marie's election day is next Tuesday, and she is up against a well-funded, eight-term incumbent. She's an underdog who needs our support.

Will you join me and chip in $3 now to help Marie Newman's campaign get out the vote and win on Tuesday?

You might be wondering why I'm weighing in on a local race like this one. It's because so much is at stake in this election.

At a time when the Trump administration is hellbent on attacking immigrants, targeting Americans' health care, and undermining a woman's right to choose, we need champions in Washington who will stand up for our values and protect the most vulnerable among us. Marie will do just that, and that's why I'm proud to support her.

Two years ago, Marie took on Lipinski for the first time and came so close to winning; she fell short by just 2% of the vote. We can't let that happen again.

Mar, will you rush a donation of $3 Marie Newman's campaign and help elect her, a progressive champion, to Congress?

Thanks for being in this with me.

–Julián
