Bezos asks employees to give up paid sick leave

Add your name to show your support.

Dear MoveOn Member,

I'm R Karpinski, a MoveOn member, and I started a petition to Jeff Bezos, which says:

Jeff Bezos wants his workers at Whole Foods to pay for their colleagues' sick leave during the Covid-19 pandemic. Bezos and his Whole Foods CEO, John Mackey, said that one of the options available to workers was for them to "donate" their "paid time off" days to a pool that other workers could draw from. We want Bezos/Amazon/Whole Foods to pay their sick employees from the untaxed profits that they are making every day. Bezos is the richest man in the world, and can afford to pay his sick Whole Foods employees for the time that they lose during the Corona Virus pandemic.

The burden of coping with this pandemic should not fall on those who are least able to pay for it. Especially, when Amazon and Whole Foods receive huge tax breaks from the government. Bezos can afford to pay for these needy workers from his own personal wealth without breaking the bank. It is obscene that he is trying to foist this responsibility off onto his hourly workers.

Thanks!
