Dear MoveOn member,
Right now, Congress is debating who will get about 1 trillion dollars in economic relief from the coronavirus pandemic.
Call Senators Charles E. Schumer and Kirsten E. Gillibrand now to demand they direct the aid to those who need it the most in this crisis, not billionaires and CEOs.
Here's where to call:
- Sen. Schumer - (202) 224-6542
- Sen. Gillibrand - (202) 224-4451

We don't need to look far to see the pain caused by this health and economic crisis. From parents missing work to be with their kids, to hundreds of thousands of laid-off or out-of-work folks, to countless small businesses closing, to those suffering from health problems, so many in our communities need immediate support. We have to ensure that everyone has the health care, housing, and economic relief they need to stay afloat.
Congress has been in this kind of position before, and must not repeat its past mistakes. When an economic downturn hit in 2008, the federal government bailed out big banks and industries, without proper regulations to ensure the relief would be shared with workers and provide support to communities. Those who profited from that bailout are asking Congress to line their pockets again, and we can't let that happen.
We need bold, ambitious plans that provide immediate support and lay the groundwork for a more equitable, sustainable economy—one that empowers workers, families, small businesses, and communities. That includes measures to get cash assistance to everyone immediately, protect housing, and ensure that everyone is able to take leave from work to care for families, as well as programs that rein in big industries and invest in Main Street, not just Wall Street.
Negotiations are happening right now. Call Sens. Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand to demand they put people before profits and ensure economic relief is targeted to help the people most affected.

We need leaders and institutions across governments at all levels, philanthropy, and business to do everything they possibly can now to protect our public health and financial stability during this crisis and fix the institutional problems that prevent people from thriving in their day-to-day lives.
Decisions are being made right now that will affect all of us for years to come. Don't miss your chance to weigh in; call Sens. Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand now.
Thanks for all you do.
