Dear New York MoveOn member,
Five years ago, fast-food workers across the country stood up and said that a $7.25 minimum wage is a starvation wage and that it needed to be raised to $15 per hour.
At first, people said they were nuts. They were dreaming too big. They needed to think smaller. Be pragmatic and don’t push too hard. Sound familiar?
But they kept fighting. And MoveOn members across the country joined them. And courageous leaders like Bernie Sanders joined them. And this month, New York became one of the first states in the country to raise its minimum wage to $15 an hour.
Real change is possible if you think big and have a vision. That’s exactly why MoveOn exists and supports efforts like the Fight for $15 and Bernie Sanders' campaign.
This weekend will be the most important of the campaign to help Bernie win New York. That's why hundreds of MoveOn members are swarming their local Bernie offices to help get out the vote on Sunday at noon. Here's the nearest event to you. Can you join this Sunday?
Where: Long Island West Bernie office (in Garden City)
When: Sunday, April 17, 12:00 PM
What: New York's Democratic primary is this Tuesday, and we need to pull out all the stops to help Bernie Sanders win across the Empire State. That's why this Sunday, April 17, MoveOn members are "swarming" the local Bernie campaign office in Garden City with a surge of volunteers.
Let's keep fighting for big change together and help Bernie win in New York on Tuesday.
Thanks for all you do.
—Matt, Erica, Justin, Emily and the rest of the MoveOn for Bernie team
