Call Rep. Meeks to defend DACA and insist on a clean Dream Act

Dear MoveOn member,

The last 36 hours have included fast-moving and conflicting news on whether Congress and Donald Trump are approaching a deal to defend DACA and pass a clean Dream Act in the weeks ahead.1

While it's good that Trump is feeling the pressure to fix the crisis that he created, what's crucial is that there is no deal yet—and 800,000 immigrants, and their families and communities remain at risk due to Trump's decision to end DACA.

Until there is real action to pass a clean Dream Act—one that does NOT treat 800,000 young immigrants as a bargaining chip to invest in Trump's toxic agenda, whether it's tax cuts for corporate billionaires, wasteful border walls, or funding Trump's deportation machine to target Dreamers' families at the border and beyond—we must keep the pressure on Congress.

MoveOn members have already made thousands of phone calls and participated in a grassroots delivery of 1.1 million petition signatures to Congress this Tuesday. We know that what we're doing is working, because Congress and Trump are scrambling to sort out a solution. So let's up the pressure!

Can you call Representative Gregory W. Meeks right now to let him know that voters like you demand a clean Dream Act, ASAP, and that you don't want a "deal" that adds more money to Trump's agenda to terrorize immigrant communities?

Here's where to call:

  • Rep. Meeks - (202) 225-3461

You can click here for a script and to let us know how your call went—knowing how many MoveOn members called will help us make the case that this is an urgent priority for Congress.

We can't count on Trump to uphold a deal. And we can't let Democrats treat Dreamers as a bargaining chip. The majority of Americans and the majority of members of Congress want to pass the Dream Act. There is no need for Democrats to settle for anything less than a clean Dream Act.

Until 800,000 young immigrants who have made their lives in America are given full protection of the law, Congress has failed in its duty. Now is the time to act.

Thanks for all you do.
