Dear fellow MoveOn member,

As a powerful force for political and social change in America, the Resistance deserves to have a prominent platform to respond to Donald Trump's State of the Union speech next week.

The Resistance—led mainly by women—is a movement of citizen activists opposing the harmful policies of the Trump administration and its Republican accomplices in Congress. Women who have never engaged deeply with the political process before have been driven to take action. They're starting new advocacy and candidate training organizations, and they're running for office in record numbers.¹

Tell CNN and other news networks to air a response from the Resistance after Trump's State of the Union speech on January 30.

The Resistance is not slowing down; millions of women and caring allies marched the day after Trump's inauguration in 2017, and people marched in record numbers again this month, around the country.

Movement leaders who have been working in the fights for racial justice, immigration justice, voting rights, LGBTQIA rights, health care, economic justice, and more, are ready to respond.

Activists, organizing on a scale never seen before in the history of our nation, are working to change America at the grassroots level, and they should have an opportunity to respond to Trump's speech. During the Obama presidency, cable news broadcast a Tea Party rebuttal separate from the Republican rebuttal after his State of the Union speech. The Resistance is broader than the Tea Party ever was—and the Resistance has a different message than the Democratic Party; it deserves its own televised response.
