Hi, MoveOn member!
This is Robert Fox, MoveOn's Chief Operating Officer. As "the numbers guy," I write to MoveOn members very rarely. But I'm writing to you today because the fate of two of our three branches of government is up for grabs, and I need to be honest that we need your help, Eddie.
On Tuesday, confirmation hearings begin for Donald Trump's Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh. If the 53-year-old, ultra-conservative, Republican political operative is confirmed, the Court will lurch to the right—and likely stay there for decades—ensuring the system is rigged to benefit the rich and powerful even more than it is today and with devastating consequences for women, Black and brown Americans, immigrants, and the LGBTQ community.
We just helped lead the largest mobilization ever against a Supreme Court nominee. And with the confirmation hearings about to begin, it's go-time to stop Kavanaugh.
And at the same time, there are just 10 weeks until the most consequential midterm election in our lifetimes. The MoveOn staff just wrapped up an intensive final two-day planning session, and next week we begin our final sprint to Election Day, when we'll end Republican control of Congress and elect bold, inspiring progressive leaders to federal, state, and local offices all over the country.
It's a lot to do all at once. And it's going to take a ton of energy, time, and—importantly—money. Which is why I'm asking you:
Will you chip in $3—or whatever you can afford—to help MoveOn raise $140,000 before September 1 (tomorrow), so we are on firm financial footing as we enter the fall?

We have to walk and chew gum at the same time right now—by giving it our all to save the Supreme Court and seeing through the biggest elections program in MoveOn's 20-year history (not to mention also fighting as hard as we can on the other issues and crises that our country is grappling with).
I know firsthand just how much you and our other members have invested in this movement already. I wouldn't ask you again if it weren't so important. With your support, we will take our very best shot at stopping Kavanaugh, while creating a blue wave that washes out the Republican-controlled Congress.
MoveOn is ready for this challenge. We've been preparing for it for months, planning, budgeting, and organizing in order to have the biggest impact as possible—and we hit the ground running months ago.
We're closing in on the finish line now, which means it is time to buckle down and work even harder to stop a very dangerous Supreme Court nominee and also ensure that when we all wake up on November 7, we wake up to a brand-new Congress that will actually take on Trump, inspiring leaders at the state and local level who will stand up for our communities, and a president who knows his days are numbered.
