"Yes We Can!" party in Rockville Centre

Volunteers are key to stopping the GOP takeover of Congress. MoveOn is holding "Yes We Can!" parties nationwide this weekend to recruit volunteers for campaigns that need boots on the ground. There's a party in Rockville Centre on Sunday, Oct. 10, 2010, at 1:00 PM hosted by MoveOn member Eve S.—can you come?

RSVP for the party

Dear MoveOn member,

I have a personal request. Can you give a couple hours this weekend to help stop a Republican takeover of Congress?

When you win an election by just a handful of votes, like I did in 2008, you know how much every last volunteer matters.

And this year, with dozens of Democrats facing incredibly close races, grassroots volunteers are going to be critical in determining the outcome of key races.

So I've joined with MoveOn to support hundreds of "Yes We Can!" house parties this weekend, where MoveOn members will gather together to call potential volunteers and get them connected to the congressional campaigns that need their help.

More than 50 congressional races are up in the air this fall, including those of longtime progressive leaders—like my Senate colleagues Barbara Boxer and Russ Feingold. And any one race could mean the difference between Democratic or Republican control of Congress next year.

It's a scary thought. But just like so many of you did in 2008, we can turn the tide by mobilizing a true people-powered election effort to reach out to every last voter in these key races and turn them out to vote on November 2nd.

But to find those volunteers, we need every person possible to help this weekend. Can you come to a call party in Rockville Centre on Sunday, hosted by MoveOn member Eve S.?
