Huge NY Times scoop: Trump paid NO taxes?

The New York Times just published a blockbuster story based on never-before-seen Trump tax records, showing that Donald Trump may have paid nothing in federal income taxes for nearly two decades.

Dear MoveOn member,

The New York Times just published a blockbuster story based on never-before-seen Trump tax records, showing that Donald Trump may have paid nothing in federal income taxes for nearly two decades.1

This story of Trump the billionaire skipping out on his fair share has the potential to break through with the unusually high number of voters who are still on the fence. As The Washington Post reported, undecided voters in a focus group in North Carolina "gasped" when Trump said, in the first debate, that not paying taxes would make him "smart."2

MoveOn's video with Senator Elizabeth Warren asking what Trump is hiding by refusing to release his tax returns has already become a viral mega-hit, with over 26 million views. And now, we're preparing an emergency plan to spread this spread this powerful storyline even further.

If we can raise $100,000 today, we'll rush to buy up ad space in battleground states and make sure undecided voters hear that Trump is a likely tax dodger. But ad space is quickly dwindling.

Can you chip in $3 to help us expose the truth? Just click here.

These new details on Trump's taxes are damning on two levels:

First, they're a reminder that—counter to the image he projects on reality TV—Trump has been a failure in business, a "fraud," as Sen. Warren put it.3 That's important because so much of Trump's political pitch rests on his ostensible success.

Second, they demonstrate that he's very likely a cheat and a freeloader. Teachers, janitors, and all the rest of us do our jobs and pay our fair share. But an incompetent billionaire may well have used his massive business failures to skip out on paying any taxes—for decades.

We need to get the tax story to the right people, right now. Will you chip in $3?

Yes, I'll chip in.

Thanks for all you do.

P.S. Your contribution will also support our massive, ground-breaking field operation in the battleground states. We have more than 100 organizers teaming up with tens of thousands of volunteers to knock on more than a million targeted doors in swing states to persuade undecided voters and make sure that no progressive stays home on Election Day.

We’ll be giving them critical talking points on Trump’s tax dodging, along with new materials, to help ensure voters understand that Trump likely has not paid his taxes for 18 years—and maybe more.

Let’s be clear: If you or I avoided paying our taxes for nearly two decades, we’d be going to prison—but Donald Trump may be getting away with it, year after year. The least we can do is make sure he’s never elected president.

Chip in $3—or whatever you can—now.

Want to support our work? Senator Elizabeth Warren says, "I'm so enthusiastic about MoveOn's smart and targeted plan to hire a network of organizers in key battleground states to mobilize and train volunteers to knock on hundreds of thousands of doors. It's bold and ambitious—and exactly what is needed to help swing Senate races, resoundingly defeat Donald Trump, and give Democrats a fighting chance to take back the House."
