Call now: Thank your senators for opposing Trump's Supreme Court nominee

No Supreme Court hearing while Trump is being investigated The confirmation hearing for Trump's ultra-right-wing Supreme Court nominee, Neil Gorsuch, began yesterday—the same day that we learned that Trump and his cronies have been under FBI investigation since July of 2016.

Dear MoveOn member,

The Senate Judiciary Committee voted yesterday on Trump's right-wing Supreme Court nominee, Neil Gorsuch. Now, a full Senate vote is expected by Friday.

Fortunately, more than 41 Democrats—including Senators Charles E. Schumer and Kirsten E. Gillibrand—have come out publicly stating that they will vote no on Gorsuch, and will use the tools at their disposal to stop his confirmation.1

41 is the critical number to stop Gorsuch under current Senate rules, which require 60 votes. So we can still stop Gorsuch, but only if enough Democrats stand strong.

Will you pick up the phone to thank Senators Charles E. Schumer and Kirsten E. Gillibrand for opposing Neil Gorsuch? We need your senators to hear loud and clear that we're counting on them to continue standing strong, especially while the Trump team is under criminal investigation.

Here's where to call: 1-855-971-2329

When you call, say something like this:

"Thank you for opposing Donald Trump's power grab and demanding Gorsuch meet the 60-vote threshold. The Senate should not change the rules to rush through a lifetime appointment, especially while the Trump administration is under criminal investigation. If you stand strong, we'll stand with you."

According to Senate rules, 60 votes are required for a "cloture" vote which would allow this nomination to proceed, but Senator Mitch McConnell is threatening the "nuclear option"—changing the rules to rush through this confirmation. This is why we need senators to use every tool at their disposal to stop this power grab—and why it's so important that we get the backs of the senators who stand up to oppose this nomination.

If confirmed, Gorsuch would have a damning effect on national policy for decades. We can't afford a Supreme Court justice who sides with corporations over workers and has a history of rulings that include subverting the education of a special needs student.2 And we can't afford handing Trump—whose ties to Russia are the subject of new revelations nearly every day—a lifetime appointment that could turn his four-year agenda into a 40-year legacy.

Will call to thank your senators, and urge them to keep standing strong?
