Dear MoveOn member,

Red alert: Paul Ryan and Republican extremists are scrambling one more time to try and rush Trump's rejected, train-wreck of a health care bill through Congress—as early as tomorrow (Friday).1

Just like the original bill, the new bill would take away health insurance from 24 million people.2

But the new bill is even worse than the original, because now Trump and the GOP are trying to end protections for pre-existing conditions as well. Their plan would be devastating for tens of millions of Americans.

We have to stop it now—for good. We may have have just over 24 hours—or a bit longer—to organize and flood key Republicans with calls and in-person drop-by visits. Our calls helped stop the first Trumpcare bill. We have to make sure to hit just as hard this time online, on the ground, and on the phones—with every tool in our arsenal.

Will you chip in $3 to help stop Trumpcare and hold Republicans accountable?

Yes, I'll chip in and help MoveOn's emergency campaign to stop health care repeal.

Check out the projected annual surcharges that patients with the following medical conditions can expect under Trumpcare:3

  • Lung cancer: $72,900
  • Arthritis: $26,580
  • Autism: $5,510
  • Pregnancy: $17,320

This is so outrageous that it’s not enough to just stop the bill. This should cost Republicans control of Congress—and that's what we intend to make happen.

Can you chip in $3 to help stop Trumpcare and hold Republicans accountable for their cruel and dangerous bill?

Yes, I'll chip in to help stop Trumpcare and hold Republicans accountable.

Here's what we're doing: First, we're sounding the alarm—before Congress votes as early as tomorrow—and pulling out the stops to prevent Republicans from ramming this through. We're pouring in calls, organizing drop-bys in-person in the swing Republican districts that could decide the outcome, mounting a big digital ad campaign, and more.

We know this can make a difference, because the last time that Republicans tried to ram through Trumpcare, we launched an emergency pushback effort, making more than 40,000 calls to Congress in a single day when a vote was supposed to take place—and, thanks in part to that and other grassroots efforts, the bill was pulled!

The Washington Post reported that calls were running 50-to-1 against the bill.4

Second, in the coming weeks and months, we will continue our grassroots campaign to stop Trumpcare and lay the groundwork for actual health care solutions, like Medicare for All. That means more town hall meetings, protests, hard-hitting videos from our Video Lab team, social media campaigns, and other actions to fiercely defend health care for millions of Americans.

And finally, we'll make sure that voters know why this bill is so awful and ensure that Republicans pay a steep political price for advancing and supporting it. That means reminding voters about just how terrible the Trumpcare effort was when they go to the ballot box in 2018.

Will you chip in $3—or whatever you can afford—to stop Trumpcare and hold Republicans accountable at the ballot box?

Yes, I'll chip in now.

Thanks for all you do.

–Anna, Nick, Ann, Milan, and the rest of the team

P.S. If you lived in one of the key House districts we're targeting in this rapid response campaign, you wouldn't be getting this email. You'd be getting a series of messages alerting you to emergency protests, and asking you to call your pivotal member of Congress. But for those of us living elsewhere, the most critical thing today is to make sure we have the resources for this unexpected and urgent battle. Please chip in $3 if you're able.
