YOU'RE INVITED! |
March and rally in Brooklyn for a clean Dream Act! |
|
| Where: | Grand Army Plaza in brooklyn, ny | When: | Saturday from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. | What: | "No Holiday Cheer for Us? No Holiday Cheer for You!" Join immigrant youth, their families, community leaders, and allies to march from Grand Army Plaza to Senator Chuck Schumer's Brooklyn home in support of a clean Dream Act now. | Thursday night, Congress—again—failed to stand with Dreamers and pass a clean Dream Act. Members of Congress, including 17 Senate Democrats, voted to deport Dreamers and opted to head home to their own families while 800,000 Dreamers and their families are forced to spend their holidays in fear and uncertainty. As Senate Minority Leader, Senator Schumer promised to deliver a clean Dream Act this year. Thanks to inspiring organizing by immigrant youth, thirty Senate Democrats voted the right way Thursday, but Sen. Schumer failed to unite his caucus and use their leverage, and ultimately stalled once again on passing a clean Dream Act. It's been almost four months since Trump terminated the DACA program, and 122 immigrant youth are losing their DACA protection every single day. Despite vast and growing bipartisan support for the Dream Act, Congress still hasn't taken action. Join immigrant youth and families from Make the Road New York, New York Immigration Coalition, MoveOn, United We Dream, Indivisible Nation BK, CREDO, Working Families Party, Bend the Arc Jewish Action, Women's March, and more as we deliver this message to Sen. Schumer: "No holiday cheer for us? No holiday cheer for you!"
Let's close out 2017 letting Sen. Schumer know the Resistance is strong, here to stay, and demands a clean Dream Act now! Will you be there as our joyful, peaceful crowd brings this critical message in the holiday spirit? | Join the march and rally for a clean Dream Act! | | | |
