My heart is pounding (We must take back Congress)

I was a teenager when Dr. Anita Hill stood up bravely to a shameful disgrace of a process when she brought forth her own testimony.

Dear Eddie,

I held my breath during Dr. Christine Blasey Ford's testimony yesterday—to keep from either screaming or breaking down. Or both.

Here's what's true: We cannot undo the GOP's vile behavior before, during, and after yesterday's hearing. We can and will keep pushing to stop Kavanaugh's confirmation, which is still in question. And, with a pivotal election in 39 days, we can and must channel our outrage into accountability by wresting control of the House—and Senate—away from Republicans on November 6.

Will you sign up to help contact voters in a pivotal race near you? There's an important action happening near you, hosted by MoveOn members: Canvassing for GOTV on Tuesday, October 2, 3:00 PM .

I was a teenager when Anita Hill stood up bravely to a shameful disgrace of a process when she brought forth her own testimony. When the GOP (and, to their shame, Democrats) handed Clarence Thomas—a sexual abuser—a lifetime seat on the most powerful court in our nation while hurling blistering insults and doubt at Ms. Hill, the survivor of Thomas's abuse.

Well, yesterday, Republicans tried again to meet Dr. Blasey Ford's account of Brett Kavanaugh's attempted rape with cruel and cynical attempts to distract from her account.

But you know what? They failed.

Because a nation was watching. MoveOn members—who believe survivors such as Dr. Blasey Ford—were on the move, from Washington, D.C., to Minneapolis. Together, we made more than 10,000 calls to the Senate yesterday alone. We joined the Women's March, NARAL, and UltraViolet in rallying by the thousands in Washington. More than 250,000 thousand of us signed petitions of support for Dr. Blasey Ford, Deborah Ramirez, and Julie Swetnick.

And we will not yield.

Because this Tuesday, we have the chance to support a new generation of candidates who are leading the way to take back Congress. Can you join your fellow MoveOn members in Elmhurst?

We will not allow Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, Deborah Ramirez, Julie Swetnick, or any survivor of sexual violence to face the same enduring scorn as Anita Hill endured. We will not have our daughters bear the same burden and shame that we—and all survivors—have carried forward these 27 years.

Remember, we can't change what happened in that Senate hearing room, but you can be damn sure we can take back Congress on November 6. And with that win, begin a national transformation, a national healing that is long overdue.

Click here now to take part in a historic organizing wave that will sweep out vile misogynists and usher in a new day.

In the face of great personal risk, Dr. Blasey Ford shared her trauma with the entire nation.

Let's join together in these next 39 days to make Donald Trump and Republicans pay for the cynical and deeply disrespectful circus they've created to ram through archconservative Brett Kavanaugh.

And when we win on Election Day, let's join together as a nation and say that we believe survivors. We believe women. We believe Anita Hill as we believe Dr. Blasey Ford.

And let's build from those common truths. Together.

Thanks for all you do.
