Dear MoveOn member,
Hands off Medicare.
That was the core message at today's event on Capitol Hill, where I stood alongside Senators Chuck Schumer and Bernie Sanders, House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, Social Security Works, and dozens of other allies. Together we delivered the signatures of MoveOn members like you—calling on members of Congress to say "no" to any plan that would cut, privatize, institute vouchers or dismantle Medicare as we know it.

We can't wait until January to start this fight. Republican leaders, including Paul Ryan, have made it clear they want to cut and privatize Medicare.1 And Trump's pick to lead the department of Health and Human Services has made it clear that this is a top priority for him as well.2 Attacking Medicare could go hand in hand with the GOP’s efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act and strip health care from millions of Americans.
The fight to save Medicare, the Affordable Care Act, Social Security, and Medicaid is essential for protecting all Americans, from of all walks of life, who rely on these programs.
That's why it’s so crucial that all Democrats stiffen their spines in order to be an effective opposition against the dangerous policies of Trump and the Republicans. This is a fight we can win, blunting the momentum of Trump.
Democrats won more votes in this election than any other party, and we all need to fight tooth and nail for the values that voters believe in. That fight starts now.
Thanks for all you do.
