Obstruction of justice: Call now

Dear MoveOn member,

Yesterday, The New York Times reported that Donald Trump asked then FBI Director James Comey to shut down an investigation into Michael Flynn, Trump's former national security advisor.1

Make no mistake: This is huge—it’s clear obstruction of justice. Even some Republicans in Congress are beginning to say that, if true, these revelations will warrant impeaching Trump.2

We need to see the Comey memo. We need Comey to testify publicly. A special prosecutor must be appointed to get to the bottom of this. And we need a full, independent investigation launched immediately to get all the facts before Republicans can stamp out this smoldering ember.

Please call your lawmakers in both the House and Senate right now. Here's where to call:

  • Representative Gregory W. Meeks - (202) 225-3461
  • Senator Charles E. Schumer - (202) 224-6542
  • Senator Kirsten E. Gillibrand - (202) 224-4451

Tell the person who picks up the phone that you are a constituent and where you live. If you leave a message, be sure to include your name and full mailing address, so that they know that you are a constituent. Here's an example of what you might say:

"I'm outraged by the reports about Donald Trump interfering with an FBI investigation. Comey must testify in public, and all related documents must be released. A special prosecutor must be appointed to get to the bottom of this. If news reports are true, this is obstruction of justice, and Congress must impeach."

After calling, click here to tell us how your call went. We'll make sure to tell members of the media how many calls MoveOn members are making today.

News reports say that this could be the first of numerous memos Comey wrote after meetings with Trump. And the case for an independent investigation was already boiling over even before this week's news broke.3 If Trump committed obstruction of justice, he needs to be impeached.

We're closing in on holding Trump and the GOP accountable for Trump's toxic and corrupt presidency. Let's keep demanding the truth and keep the momentum going.

Thanks for all you do.
