Tell the electors in person: Reject Trump

MoveOn members are joining allies in one last-ditch effort to ask the electors in person to reject Donald Trump.

Dear MoveOn member,

The latest headlines about the Russian government's interference in our presidential election read like something out of a blockbuster Hollywood thriller. Except they aren't part of any blockbuster script. They're real.

This week news broke that the Russian president himself was involved in the efforts to influence our November election—in favor of Donald Trump.1

Amid this chilling news—and without the necessary access to an intelligence briefing regarding the extent of Russian tampering—538 members of the Electoral College will meet on Monday, December 19, in state capitols across the country to choose the next president of the United States.

That's why MoveOn members are joining allies in one last-ditch effort to ask the electors—in person—to reject Donald Trump.

Will you join fellow MoveOn members and our allies on Monday, December 19, in a national action to save our democracy?

Just click this link to RSVP. When you click this link, you’ll be directed to a website created by a coalition of MoveOn allies who are organizing these peaceful, legal gatherings. (And note: If you agree to participate in this action, you agree to terms found here.)

If you live too far from your statehouse to attend, please help spread the word by forwarding this email to friends and family members in New York or elsewhere who you think might be able to attend an action!

Aside from Russia's election tampering, Trump has alarming financial entanglements, and there are concerns regarding his corruption that have yet to be fully understood or resolved.2

Responding to this crisis, 94% of MoveOn members who participated in a recent member vote voted to launch a campaign to urge the electors to vote their conscience and reject Trump.3

The charge to reach electors has transcended party lines. News outlets report that over 20 Republican electors have indicated that they are considering changing their vote.4

MoveOn members know that this campaign to prevail upon the electors faces steep odds, but we've got to continue—to demonstrate our resistance and our resolve to not sit silently as the corrupt and questionably-elected Trump tears apart our nation.

Please join an event at your state capitol on Monday, December 19, by clicking this link. (Click here to review MoveOn’s participant agreement. By signing up, you’re agreeing to abide by its terms.)

No matter what happens on Monday, we’ll need MoveOn members to lead the resistance to Trump and Trumpism in the weeks and months ahead. Onward!

Thanks for all you do.

—Jo, Nick, Emily, Stephen, and the rest of the team
