There is licking ... and there is loving. These days, the most loving thing we can do is to stop Trump—and get a chance to lick some ice cream in the process.
Trump and his Republican buddies came within spitting distance of repealing Obamacare. They passed a $1 trillion tax cut for millionaires and billionaires—and Trump says he wants to cut taxes AGAIN.1 The EPA is headed by a man who is gutting every environmental protection he can lay his corrupt hands on. And that's just the very tip of the iceberg.
Unless we are able to help Democrats take away control of the House from Republicans this fall, Trump and his administration will continue to dismantle our democracy, the gap between the super rich and everyone else will continue to grow, and things are certain to get far worse—worse than we can even fathom right now.
MoveOn is running a big, inspiring, and genuinely grassroots-fueled elections campaign to end Republican control of Congress and create a real check on this dangerous administration and its toxic agenda. MoveOn's endorsing 100 progressive congressional candidates, developing new, cutting-edge methods of voter persuasion, and providing the training and tools to thousands of activists around the country who will lead and organize in the races that will determine who'll control Congress come November 7.
The latest polls say that the election outcome is looking grimmer. Trump's approval rating is going up, and Democrats have lost much of their lead in congressional races.2,3
It's clear that we do not have this election in the bag—not by a long shot. And, while we hate to bring it up again, in 2016, many of us thought that Trump couldn't possibly win. But he did.
But we can still win this November, if we work for it. We've been awed over the years by the kind of organizing that MoveOn does. MoveOn's elections plan is a great program. But it can happen only if thousands of us come together and chip in.
