Calls needed today: Big vote Thursday on Citizens United

The Senate is debating overturning Citizens United. Can you call Sens. Gillibrand and Schumer right now? Tell them: "Thank you for co-sponsoring the Democracy for All Amendment to overturn Citizens United. You've done so much already, and the debate this week is your chance to make the case to the public about why we need to get big money out of politics. This is a long fight and this is how we'll win."

Dear New York MoveOn member,

Senators Kirsten Gillibrand and Charles Schumer are both co-sponsors or supporters of the bill to amend the Constitution to overturn Citizens United—which will get its first historic vote in the U.S. Senate as soon as this Thursday after hours of debate.

Mitch McConnell and other Republicans voted Monday to allow the bill to advance—and now they're trying to cast the debate and the vote as a waste of time.1

This week's debate could set the tone for years to come, and it's critical that our supporters like Sens. Gillibrand and Schumer know that we've got their backs and that we're counting on them to fight hard.

Can you call Sens. Gillibrand and Schumer? Tell them:

Undoing the damage of Citizens United is a long-term campaign, and one we're in for the long haul. If we show our supporters in Congress that we stand with them, we'll build our base of power for the fights ahead. It's good to say thanks!

Thanks for all you do.
