Dear MoveOn member,
Koch Industries General Counsel Mark Holden was, according to The Huffington Post, "unable to believe that a bottom-up group like MoveOn could raise as much money as it does."1
But that's exactly who we are.
Would you join me in having a little fun with this—by proving real MoveOn members DO exist? There are millions of us—including you! We'd like to deliver a card to Koch Industries with your name on it. The card says: "We are here. We exist! And our democracy is not for sale."
Last year, the MoveOn 1%—the one percent of MoveOn members who donated the most to MoveOn—donated an average of $330 each. That's as opposed to the hundreds of millions of dollars that the Koch brothers themselves will spend this year. There are literally hundreds of thousands of MoveOn members, nationwide, who donate just a few dollars when they can to help fuel our work.
Whether it's $5, $50, or $500, it's these small-dollar donations that keep us independent, keep us strong, and help us build a more just political system—and a more just country, together.
The Kochs should be surprised by how strong we are. And after our work together in this election, countering the corrupting influence of right-wing, big-money donors, they oughta be a little scared, too. Would you sign our card, and help us have a little fun with this?
Thanks for all you do.
